Aurelien Tchouameni | signs new contract til 2031, to be official after the World Cup

Issue with Madrid is that, if they want to sell, they sell, if not, we should focus our energy elsewhere.

He's a good player, but at 300k/w, it would be an issue for me.

Bruno will come instantly asking for this, then Mbeumo and Licha will ask more etc etc, so very dangerous to go all out.

I think he's our De Jong of 2026, so let's switch focus

Uh oh Ramon Alvarez who is reliable for Real says they can rely on this guy, Valverde, Bellingham, Guler and Bernardo Silva for upcoming season. Ah well guess that means only Camavinga is up for sale and we don't want him.
This is the same journos who also said Tchouameni is not untouchable for Jose 3 weeks ago. So I'd take what he says with a pinch of salt.

This was the exact point made by Andy Mitten on Talk of the Devils. He doesn't want to leave, but if RM want to cash in, he's open to it. Tchouameni is not clawing at the walls to leave and play for us, he just knows RM have the final say.

I think we should not be signing reluctant players. Don't need players pining for their exes.

I don't think there will ever be a time we get a RM player at the height of their power, with the club desperate to keep them, and the player wants to force an MUFC move. Even if we were winning the league every few years it would be crazy hard to achieve. But there is no doubting Tchouameni's skill and talents if RM do want to sell.

In that same episode, Mitten compared Tchouameni's prospects of joining to those of Casemiro. He was saying Casemiro was approaching RM for another contract, happy to stay, but the club wanted to move on. Mitten said players at RM can feel it when the club is moving on so they don't fight it tooth and nail.

He won't want to sell him. Tchouameni has been wanting an Improved contract at Real and has apparently turned down their first offer as wants more. I worry this is like the Ramos saga, both the player and real using us as a negotiating tactic.

"I want 300k a week or I can go to the man Utd for that"
"our final offer is 275k, if you want more, go to man Utd and we will take the 80m"

With him not being Spanish and a club legend we do have more chance though, it will be solely down to money. This guy isn't leaving the biggest club in the world, challenging every year for the league and cl, already earning in excess of 200k a week to come to England and play for a club that struggles to even qualify the cl and is nowhere near winning the league anytime soon unless we put mega money down in front of him

So it's change a bit. Reports that we have usually are that he wants to stay unless silly wages (probably like Casemiro), but United doesn't want to offer that.

Nevertheless, I a m probably a bit deluded, but with a 110M€ transfer, 300k/w wages on 5 years it means a full package of 190m€.

I think that we can do both Scott and Baleba, if you pay Scott 85M, Baleba 60M€ and you give them 100k/w and 75k/w you have roughly the same package for the two and you have two different profiles that can be used wisely and be rotated. Of course there won't be much CL experience, but to me most important thing is to compete locally, be able to match Arsenal, City, Pool, Spurs and Chelsea, and a midfield of Mainoo-Scott-Baleba-Ederson would be fantastic.

No passers in midfield. And Scott and Baleba won't accept that wage.

And why on earth they would accept that please make it make sense to me , it would be first for a player to go for 85 m and just get 100 k week salary if any agent brings that kind of deal to player and try to convince them it's a good deal they should be sued for Malpractice

Problem is Baleba played more like Eric djemba djemba last season, them 2 signings and our first 11 may be no better than this year. It's. A lot of money to stand still or potentially go backwards

On paper, he is just perfect DM to play alongside Bellingham and Bernardo in 433. You get yourself world class DM who is physically strong and can eat ground, then playmaker who can create, and then world class box to box. If anything, Valverde should be playing on the right because you need defensive type of right winger or right midfielder to help Trent's defensively and provide balance to the team as both Vini and Mbappe are not good defensively.

Honestly, I can't see why Mourinho doesn't want Tchouameni in his team to get the best out of Bernardo and Bellingham and his superstars. The only reason Real Madrid are selling him if the president or the General Director doesn't want to give him new contract and forcing him to leave as he only has 2 years left in his contract so he needs to be sold before his value drops significantly. All of these noises could be because his agent is pushing for new contract, but he might be available if Real Madrid are not interested to give him new contract.

Well that’s worrying if true and seems like he’s way overhyped on here.
I mean is it? These clubs all have exceptional midfielders already, which they don't need to replace
Rodri has admittedly looked great at the WC, but he looked way off it for City last year and has been linked with a move away. I don’t know what will happen there but with their rumoured sales in midfield, I thought they may be in the market and could be interested.
Rodri is the best in the world until proven otherwise, they'd be mad to give up on him so soon. As I said - City might become interested in Tchouameni next year, but not now
PSG have a strong midfield and even their young backups are good too, but if one of the best French CMs came available, who could also free up Vitinha, then I could see them being interested.
Free up Vitinha to do what? He plays the role his best role for them already. They are the best team in the world with the best midfield in the world. They're not changing that

And individually their midfielders are all better than Tchouameni, too, I think. At the very least Vitinha and Joao Neves are on a completely different level and Fabian Ruiz when I've seen him these last two years was, too.
Liverpool struggled last season in this area, looking completely porous. The likes of MacAllister and Gravenberch looked miles off their previous season. I think they’ll enter the midfield market before too long and, if their pockets are as deep as the previous summer, then why not. Though if he’s not even better than the midfielders who tanked there last season then I suppose this whole conversation is moot and I actually don’t even see why we’re interested, especially at the prices mentioned.
He's different. Defensively he's way better than Gravenberch or Mac Allister, but in possession he's much worse

So if Liverpool are looking to change their midfield to add a pure defensive presence, he'd make a lot of sense for them
Chelsea and Arsenal could change tact and go for a more combative CM.
they already have Caicedo and Rice
Chelsea were linked with Xhaka and not too long ago Arsenal had Partey in there.
Both of those guys are on a completely different dimension on the ball compared to Tchouameni. They're classic DMs, like Xabi Alonso or Rodri. Tchou is more of a pure destroyer/defensive presence
Both Rice and Caicedo do seem to advance higher up the pitch these days so an option to sit in behind may be viable. But again, I’ve seen posters on here say that Tchouameni is actually one of the best passers of the ball, and I’m getting the feeling from your post that this isn’t how you see him at all? It isn’t something I’d really seen from him, to a high level, but some of the posters on here are absolutely insistent that he is.
He's got a great pass on him, but he doesn't use it. He's FAR too conservative on the ball to act as your midfield hub, dictating play and setting the tempo. He just doesn't do it

Again, watch him for France. That's how he plays. He's good at what he does, the question is whether what he does is what your team needs

i'd be shocked if Arsenal were looking at a player of his type

Chelsea, well, they try to sign everybody, so less suprising
According to our resident Real Madrid supporter, he’s not as good as the likes of Gravenberch, so he’s not even worth that type of money. Probably not worth the £80m either and also not worth you getting so worked up over.
I'm not sure he's worse than Gravenberch, just very different. Keep in mind I do think Gravenberch would be well worth £80m in this market. Great player

We tried that with Guler last year, and it didn't really work

We're not actively trying to sell him. We simply wouldn't reject a huge offer, since we'd rather have someone more of Rodri's type in there

But I don't think Mou is unhappy if he ends up staying or has no plan to use him

Makes me so sad. For us, I mean.

Important News at Real Madrid

Real Madrid has ACCEPTED two offers from the Premier League for Tchouameni and Camavinga!

Weeks ago, I shared José Mourinho’s transfer list with you, and Camavinga is on it. I also mentioned that the club sees Tchouameni as the key player to sign for the midfield.

Well… Real Madrid has ACCEPTED two offers from the Premier League!

The fact that Real Madrid accepted the offers speaks volumes about their intentions regarding the two players.

The offers, however, have been rejected by the two players, who were being offered—for now—the same salary they earn at Real Madrid.

These are the key names to unlock the two signings that Mourinho continues to demand; he has spoken with José Ángel Sánchez to insist that he wants another center back and another midfielder. I have the names on a very short list, but I’m saving them for another day.

Reliable for Real according to Reddit (Tier 2) and one of their big forums (fororealmadrid). Seems somewhat in line with the other recent reports.

"I also mentioned that the club sees Tchouameni as the key player to sign for the midfield." seems like an iffy translation, but probably in reference to us. Hard to tell if the Camavinga interest is from a different club entirely or not.

There has to be something in this otherwise we wouldn’t still be bothering, months after our initial talks were confirmed on TOTD.

After mentally going in circles, I think this will happen after the World Cup.

Come on lad - you know you want to

We tried that with Guler last year, and it didn't really work

That's because it's Guler not Bernardo Silva, 2 different type of profile.

Signing Rodri after signed Silva probably makes less sense due to their age.

They're bullshit merchants guys

Wait for the athletic/romano, they're the only ones in any way believable when it comes to Madrid(and even romano isn't all that good)

Romano knows feck all about him I think. Hes lagging Athletic and changing his tune as they do.

The issue for Real is that it’s decision time. He has 2 years left, so it’s sell or renew his contract time. If they want to cash in, this will probably be the last time to do it and extract maximum value.

This is based on nothing but a hunch on my part, but I reckon we’ll end up signing him for something like €100m and they’ll sign Rodri for half that. In terms of financing other deals, it’s probably their best option for the short to medium term.

I think so too. Probably also because I want to believe that our board isn't so stupid that they let our other targets go to rivals, without having some inkling that we will be able to sign a premium player like Tchouameni later in the WC. Maybe I'm wrong and they are so stupid, but I sincerely hope not!!
