Aurelien Tchouameni | signs new contract til 2031, to be official after the World Cup

This is a weird one as there is a lot of reports coming out of Spain that Rodri is potentially being signed by Madrid. You have to think the new improved contract for Tchouameni makes no sense if Rodri comes in. If Tchouameni's contract is not yet signed, as odd as it will be, I can still see him leaving.

When Mitten reported his contacts in Spain said "he could still leave" even after the news of contract extension agreed, I dismissed it, but maybe they saw the potential Rodri pursuit coming post world cup. And the new Tchouameni deal that was agreed but not signed was just to cover themselves in the event they can't get Rodri.

Maybe I'm overthinking it and it will just be Camavinga shipped out instead

United may have moved on from this though and may be unprepared to revisit it. The timing of the Santos signing suggested it was done after finding out Tchouameni was planning on extending his contract.

In the unlikely event we did end up revisiting this, I suspect Madrid get a very good deal on Rodri and I hope we'd use that as a guide to not get ripped off on the fee for Tchouameni.

Just trying to think of the last time a player signed a new deal then ended up leaving shortly after

Dont want him. He is too limited on the ball and looking at PSG and Spain taking the crowns this summer, I want us to have players who dominate the ball.

He is good defensively but too safe with passing.

Gossip merchants are now making money primarily from YouTube subscribers. This is the worst year I've seen where they aren't picking up transfers like Santos and Rogers but also they are making utter rubbish up like Ederson.

Who do you think provides defensive ability and passing ability at the same time? I can't think of many.

@giorno

I've wanted to know, if a marquee signing was going to come from RM who are the most likely from RM in order from Tchouameni, Valverde, TAA, Vinicius, Guler, Bellingham & Camavinga?

I’d take him but I’m not sure how much he’d cost or how well he’d turn out

Funny enough Mitten a few weeks back said that the feeling at Madrid was that he could still be sold interesting that there has been zero formal announcement on a contract and a deal on Rodri is heating up.

Sound alike Frankie De Jong again. Please! Please! Let him go. Please! Please! Come to Utd.

#move.on
Difference is Tchouameni is happy to come if Madrid decide to sell him. Personal terms were a sticking point with de Jong as he just didn't want to leave Barca.

Here's what he said for anyone who missed it.

What do you mean, which one would be a marquee signing or which one would be more likely to leave?

Bellingham and Guler aren't leaving unless they force their way out. And the club will bend over backwards to retain them, especially Bellingham

Vini won't leave this summer unless someone makes him a truly stupid offer - chances are he'll leave on a free next year

TAA, Tchouameni - don't think he's leaving but if a big enough offer comes and he accepts it, we sell I think

Camavinga I think we'd like to sell actually but he doesn't want to leave

Valverde - i have no idea. Big offer and I think we leave it to the player...

So which of those is the most likely to be sold if you had to pick one, personally would say Camavinga

If this Rodri to Madrid is true, they've now fecked it because No1 is going to sign Tchouameni if he's actually signed his new contract with the increased wages.

The numbers were immense that were verbally agreed to, so Tchouameni and agent would then use that as a yardstick for their new contract. United won't sign him for anything like the numbers mentioned he was going to sign for at Madrid for his new contract.

Its Luckhurst so truckful of salt needed. Could even be setting up a later tweet to have a go at us-"yet Utd still attempted to sign him even though his new contract was already signed and he had a restraining order against us as well but Utd kept asking" kind of nonsense you expect from him.

But IF theres truth in it, at least Tchouameni will know we really want him.

What we seem to know is Tchouameni will love to play for Madrid for as long as they want him to stay

And if they don't he would love to play for Man Utd.

Mitten said something like that and I trust him. He rarely speaks to transfer targets but hes got amazing sources, being based partly in Spain puts him in a unique position here.

After the new contract he said his source said "they may still sell him". So I find this development on Rodri interesting. Mitten said it was still improbable at that time, but Rodri can change everything.

Are we really in for this guy? Big presence but some glaring technical deficiencies, namely that first touch...

I very much doubt we are

If he is for sale Im certain we will get him in and push the boat out.

We are flushed with technical profiles in the middle now. We need someone physical, a leader, someone with experience and a complimentary blend do Tielemans and Mainoo.

Anyone saying we shouldnt buy Tchouameni, i hope is happy with Sander Berge. No disrespect to the latter but one is just a decent PL player while the other has won CL and La Liga as a starter.

Where is the encouragement coming from? Why is this a hot topic? If he is signed a new deal or already signed, surely this is click bait or is there a credible source saying he could be swayed or wants to join us? Alternatively is this a way to negotiate a bigger pay rise from Madrid?

Most reliable I can offer is Mitten's contact in Madrid saying they could still sell despite signing new deal

I don't put that much stock into how a player performs with their national team as the systems could be different and they're asked to do different things.
He may not have been at his absolute best performance wise, but stylistically at least, that was normal for him.

Luckurst having a proper blinder this summer

Feels like a lot of domestic based journos are as out of the loop as we are when it comes to club dealings this summer , probably for the better

Yeah not exactly surprising news

Why would anyone pay 300k and 80 Million for a midfielder who will just pass it to man next to him like 99 out of 100 times and is nothing special defensively?

Literally goes against nothing they are saying to be honest

I don't know why people just make up shit like this when there's a bunch of evidence all over the internet that proves that wrong.

How can he be one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, and "nothing special defensively?" Of course he is excellent defensively, that's why he is a starter for Real Madrid and France.
