Very interesting turn of events. I'm not the biggest Tchouameni fan, on the ball he just doesn't do enough for me. But he would massively improve us physically, definitely a floor raiser.

So after all the crying and ‘ban Luckhurst’ moans, we are now seeing the substance in his recent reports. Never understood the whole censorship drive, if you don’t believe a report, then don’t believe it. That said, unless we are talking indy and similar pretend journalists who operate under the user names ‘transfer expert’ - banning posts is so overly emotional and childish to me. Luckhurst is a weasel and unlikeable, but is obviously an actual journalist. Either choose to discuss his posts or don’t, by all means - but outlawing his posts just seems.. silly.

These newest rumors do not bear enough substance to start defending one of the worst journalists covering United. I'd wait a couple more days before jumping to his rescue.
I agree about the censorship part though. Transfer talk is all about rumors and speculation. As long as there's at least a certain minimum standard of credibility, everything should be fair game to post.

I could be wrong, but I’m sure I saw reports saying Camavinga is a lot less willing to move than Tchouameni. Obviously all changes if he’s straight up told to pack his bags, but…
I think they would be open to selling Camavinga even if they don't sign Rodri however the player has been pretty adamant that he is not going to move no matter what. The initial talk about Tchou being the one to go really relates to that as he has been less dogmatic about the issue and whilst his preference is to stay he has also indicated he does not want to be on the bench and he would be open to a PL move. The biggest issue for us is that I just do not see INEOS paying what Real are likely to ask nor do I imagine we would be willing to meet his salary demands, would love to be proved wrong.
Andy Mitten said that Tchouameni’s stance is that he’s happy to stay at Madrid but if he’s not wanted he’s happy to play for United. Casemiro and Varane’s reaction to playing for the club should tell you that the club still carries a lot of prestige even to players who have won and seen it all.

I’m not defending Luckhurst at all. I could not care less about him. It’s more the opposite, I’m very anti-emotional attachment to journos, think the ‘tier’ stuff and constant discourse about reliability every summer just makes me feel old, because even caring as much as people seem to seems like teenage stuff. To me.
Of course, there does need to be a degree of quality control, but the reality is, the window is just a few short months. We will all see what will and won’t happen within a definitive deadline of a few more weeks anyway, but the need to apply so many controls to off-season conversation will always be odd to me. Nobody needs to believe anything. Whether it’s true or not will be revealed soon enough anyway, let people talk about it if they want. But beyond the twitter chancers who change their names every summer and delete all their tweets, pretending to work for publications etc - why can’t people essentially talk about something they heard/read on the news anyway?
