Aurelien Tchouameni | signs new contract til 2031, to be official after the World Cup

He's staying put at Como next season reportedly

Well that could be good news for United, then, there might just be an opportunity opening up in a couple of years...

Rev up those engines and pack those tents my fellow muppets...

This will be the place to be and set up camp at in a month and a halfs time

Hold fire on that third midfielder Utd, this is the one guy I would have even put above Anderson on shortlist. Surely signing this guy would be too good to be true unfortunately

He'd be my no.1 priority this summer tbh. Definitely feels like it's influencing our summer strategy so far

That Alvarez is a decent source for Madrid news, however expect him to come out after World Cup and said he wants to stay anyway. We still have to at least give it a go though because he is one of best in world.

This is exactly what I said would happen as it was reported months ago that Real wanted midfielders more in the profile of Modric and Kroos so with them just signing Bernardo Silva and apparently after Rodri or Enzo whilst already having Valverde who’s captain, Bellingham, Guler and Camavinga so Tchouameni is the clear odd one out and will bring money in to fix other positions like a right winger and a centre back after already bringing in Dumfries and Curcurella.

I've said this before but, surely if Madrid were actually interested in Mateus Fernandes, they would have to sacrifice one or more of their current MF, they already have at least 6 in their squad including..
Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde, Guler, Tchoumeni, Ceballos

If they were to add Fernandes, and potentially Enzo & Rodri, that could be close on €250m of investment. I'm also hearing that they are interested in Bouaddi too.
Whichever way you look at it, they will surely have to make some MF sales.
Don't forget Chema back from loan too

Would he actually want to leave though is the question as all signs so far is he wants to stay at Real. I also noticed his name wasn't referenced in that Real Madrid section of the transfer dealsheet either unfortunately. So feels like that Alvarez is jumping to conclusions a bit.

I mean Tchouameni is first choice for arguably the best international team in the world so would he really want a back up role to Bellingham, Valverde and Bernardo Silva and that’s before someone like Enzo or/and Rodri so could find himself as 6th choice and then there’s the possibility of both Chema and Paz coming back too before you then factor in Guler and Camavinga.

Real have just done £80 million on Dumfries and Curcurella and still need another centre back and a right sided forward with talk of them wanting Olise who’d cost around £150 million so bringing just one of Rodri or Enzo means they’d have to balance the books a bit, the only one who brings a good fee in is Tchouameni.

Ive not been impressed with him today

Expensive, both in terms of transfer fee and wages, and i'm not entirely sure he's all that suited to the PL

This fits with the reports a couple of months ago of Real wanting midfielders more in line with Modric and Kroos.
I’m good as long as those plans don’t involve a certain Matheus Fernandes.
They’ve been linked with Rodri and Enzo mate as well as just signing Bernardo Silva then there’s the prospect of Chema and Paz also coming back so I think it means more that they want deep lying playmakers and creative midfielders over hard working defensive midfielders like Tchouameni, reports come out that Valverde and Bellingham will be the two key midfielders so Tchouameni being sold to bring in £65-£80 million to finance Real upgrading in other areas like Olise makes sense.

Seriously those of you that want him what exactly is he good at?

Every time I watch Madrid I don’t see him dictating play or progressing the ball much. He is decent defensively but nothing special from what I have seen.

So what exactly is he good at to warrant all this attention? From what I can see he has failed to fill the shoes of Modric and Kroos or to live up to the hype prior to his signing

Even today he is half asleep with his defending and his passing is unimpressive

I am confident he's suited to this league, however not gonna worry about fee or wages unless it happens

So why is he around 90% for progressive passing then?

How far did the passes go? And where?
Stats vs what I see when I watch vs even what Madrid fans say about him don’t seem to add up. Madrid fans don’t think he takes enough responsibility or risk with the ball either from what I can see

Fact Xabi Alonso was crying out for a CM that dictates play and Ancelotti was far from impressed with the replacements for Kroos and Modric says alot

But you did not answer the question. What exactly is he good at, that warrants all this hype?

I'm not concerned what Real fans think of him, if club didn't want him then would be stronger links of him leaving

Apparently José also has Felix Nmecha high on his list. Would definitely allow Tchou to join us

What is he good at, very simple question. You seem to like him so surely you have reasons?
We wanted him before he went to Madrid and I saw good reason back then

Because Bellingham and Guler drop deep everytime so he can make a 5 yard "forward" pass to them

Forward passing is his biggest weakness, those stats are lying to you

I am still firmly on the train even though Real fans clearly don't seem to think he offers enough to their midfield

Obviously getting ahead of myself here, but lets live in a world where we sign both him and Fernandes. Who are the two that start with Bruno?

So what's to say he hasn't still got the player at Monaco in his locker, you don't just lose ability

Paying for potential and paying for an established player is not the same. Especially wages wise

Still doesn't put me off him whatsoever

He's tall with that athletic body. Looks like a good idea of a DM.

Same. He had so much time and space playing alongside the CBs when in possession, but he didn’t do anything useful. That’s very concerning, given that he will be pressed a lot more in the PL….

Defensively, he wasn’t anything speical either.

serious answer is that he plays deep in a team that faces a lot of low blocks. He makes a lot of forward passes because all his teammates he can pass to are ahead of him

Anyways, if you want a solid if unspectacular DM who doesn't do nearly enough with the ball but is also fairly safe in terms of not losing it, and offers decent defensive protection, he's your guy

Real Madrid needs a completely different profile

Agree. Rice is twice the player.

The issue is one of decision making, not any technical flaw(he's excellent actually). That's very difficult to change at his age

I really wanted him when he was at Monaco but seems not to have developed much. Huge potential, ended up a bit limited player

Don't care how much he is slagged off in here, none of you including our Real fan is gonna change my mind
