@Cassidy for giving what feels like an honest assessment rather than just following the current narrative.
It also reinforces my belief that a lot of posters base their opinions on reputation rather than actually watching the player, which is why I still think Baleba is our best option at No. 6.
What I do wonder, though, is what some people actually expect from a No. 6. He does his job well. He’s not meant to be an all-action midfielder, and he’s never been that type of player for Madrid or France.
That said, I do think he has more to offer going forward. The thing is, he reads the game so well that he probably sees attacking as wasted energy when he can influence the game from deeper areas.
It’s similar to how we saw a different side of Casemiro when he arrived here. I’ve always believed there’s a better player in Tchouameni than the one we regularly see for Madrid and France. The Premier League feels like the perfect environment for him to show that.
