We'll have to wait till after the 2nd leg of Monacos CL qualifier. They lost 0-1 at home to shaktar yesterday. 2nd leg next week. If Monaco fail to qualify, no dobut they would be more receptive to selling a player or two.

Would fecking love this but would be surprised if it's true and if he leaves this summer. He's fantastic though.

I'd rather we sign Yves Bissouma or Camavinga to be fair
From what I’ve read across the forum from people who watch Ligue 1 Tchouameni is the far superior player over Camavinga as far as being a pure defensive midfielder which is what we need, Camavinga MAY well go on to be a massive upgrade over McTominay and Fred as he’s a box to box with ball winning qualities but it’s a pure defensive midfielder we NEED.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
I’m watching yesterday’s Monaco CL game - on BT app for those interested - 80 minutes in and I’m hoping his head is already in Manchester as he’s been pretty poor. Some very sloppy passing - assuming it isn’t the norm but he does have an 80% pass completion rate which for a DM playing in France seems low. What you do notice is how exceptional at pressing he is - he’s very quick and looks very good both positionally and physically. The YouTube videos make him look good technically even if the tempo is non-existent so I’m guessing it’s just early season sloppiness but if Fred put in a passing performance like this the Caf would go into meltdown.

Not to be too pedantic but it's a bit more like Choo-ameni.
That's pretty pedantic to be fair.

There might be a barely distinguishable elongation on "choo" as compared to "chew", but they're surely so similar in sound as makes no real difference.

Isn't this practically the same situation Martial was in a few years back ?

I'm starting to hate the term "generational talent".
It is someone who stays at the top for ten years.
I thought it meant a one in a generation player but it doesn't so I really do not pay much attention to it any more.

bring him home

He better be bloody good with a name like that because otherwise I can't be bothered to learn how to say it and spell it!
You have “Januzaj” in your username and he hardly lit the world on

Both sadly true.

That being said, we scouted him since he came through at Bordeaux, so we would likely have a big old dossier on him and if it was positive, I think we'd splurge.
Interesting — our targets normally are players we’ve been scouting for a while. We’ve had our eye on Sancho ever since he wanted out from City in 2017, and we all know how close we were to signing Varane initially.

What could be a price for Tchouameni?
Seen numbers from around £25-35M, the latter from when his name was popping up at the start of the off-season in relation to other teams. But not from any good sources that I recall, just paper talk.

I'm reading he would be valued at around £35 million? If he's as talented as some claim then worth it at that sort of money?

It just means anyone who isn't shit.

Yeah, and it's no surprise we were linked to Saul when he looked available for the same reasons.

I'm still not convinced this lad is available though, but maybe if they go out of the CL there could be an opportunity.

He's a huge talent and already very well-rounded defensively for someone so young. Great physically, too and should adept well to the demands of the Premier League. He'd be an excellent signing.

As you say, he's very keen to press, but he also likes getting the ball forward quickly - he'd fit in well with a high-tempo side that likes to move the ball quickly while under pressure, which is what Ole appears to be trying to build.

He can disppose McFred easily so we can have a 4-3-3 formation. In big games we can add one of McFred to the midfield by pushing pogba to the left.

Him or Bissouma would be an ideal signing but this news is not new anyway.....we were linked to him back in April and so chelsea..he is a talent

He's excellent without the ball and if anything we'd sign him to eventually be an upgrade on McTominay and Fred. With that being said, if we were to sign only one midfielder, it should be a better passer than him.

But Fred is no Pirlo in passing…
He completed 88% of his passes last year. He's no Pirlo which is rather obvious but he's a consistent passer which I would expect of that kind of midfielder whereas this guy would have to improve on his numbers if he's going to be a top player in that role.

Order of preference for me. Tchouameni could play in a 2 with Pogba if he stays. Hopefully he's not seen as a straight replacement.

it looks like Fred is carrying over his form from the summer Copa America where he was brilliant for Brazil

You think two major contributors will be “easily disposed” by a 21 year old that’s never set foot on a premier league pitch?

Pogba CAN NOT PLAY in a 2 man midfield.....how many times does this have to be pointed out and proven time and time again

Very much doubt that, since he is a different type of player.

“Excellent without the ball” isn’t what I want to hear from our central midfield anymore.
