Thank you for five years of service Aaron.

There was a period when he was shutting down some of the best wingers in the world regularly.

Can remember his first in the 9-0 win v Southampton as well.

Just post any POSITIVE thoughts or memories here. 190 games in five years is a great return.

Constantly shutting down Sterling every time we played city

Zaha losing hope when he was through on goal but realised AWB was bearing down on him. The fact he actually mentioned it in the post match interview was funny.

His absolute monster second half in the League Cup final vs. Newcastle - which was about as close to a 10/10 sub appearance as you're likely to find from a defender.

Honestly, I've given him a lot of flack over the years and wanted him to move on for a while now - but it has been nice knowing we at least had one player who was probably the very best player in the world at one specific thing (in this case - one vs. one defending).... He filled the void left by Fellaini's chest control.

Destroying Saint-Maximin in the Carabao Cup final in 2023 after coming on at half time. The poor lad got pocketed so bad he switched wings and got subbed shortly after.

The funny thing is ASM was having the game of his life up against Dalot in the first half and Aaron totally shut him down when he came on.

His first season. We signed him to play to particular strengths - which he did well on. When given a man marking job, he never disappointed

There was a period of about a year, when he pocketed Sterling in 2/3 games where teams would not play their left winger in the usual position because AWB would take them out of the game. Culminating in a game against City where Sterling ended up playing off the right

It's probably one of the few times post-Fergie where teams actively tactically adjusted to our strengths and abilities

Madness to think he got the 9 - 0 started with his goal

Has it really been 5 years? Wow that went quick, genuinely feels like 2!!

Thanks for all the hard work Aaron, all the best.

A quality finish too (he almost missed it) :D

I won about £500 on that fourth goal. Shaw was in great form and I put a bet on Cavani to score a header from a Luke Shaw cross. One of the loudest celebrations I've ever done

His performance in the FA Cup final was exceptional , especially when Doku came on. Probably best I'll remember him for.

I'll miss him and do think we would have benefitted by keeping him on, he's a very very useful type of player to bring on in certain situations and supremely reliable in the aspect that we all know he excells at.

Wish him well.

That one time he cleared a ball at the back post out for a corner. Didn’t think he had it in him and I celebrated that clearance like a goal.

I'll always remember him being caught driving whilst being banned from driving. Good times.

Agree ... However it does seem we needed to sell to get other players in and he wanted more playing time.
He's one of those whose name will pop up whenever we face a tricky left winger who starts ripping our RB to shreds on a regular.

All the time he shut down wingers and you see how demoralised they got going against him.

His perfect slide tackles so good that the wingers don’t even appeal for anything.

Zaha just being purely afraid of him.

Such a good 1v1 defender.

His dribbling in the 2-1 win over City at Old Trafford 2 years ago. it was around the 60-minute mark and we were losing 1-0. then he started nutmegging every city player he faced for around 40 seconds, that massively lifted the crowd and we went to score twice in the next 20 minutes.

I think I remember this one. He looked like Iniesta on speed.

We never saw it again of course.

Has his limitations going forward but I don't think anyone can deny he is immense defending one-on-ones and there aren't many better at timing those last ditch tackles.

Oh my god yes!

His weird drag back and skills with his gangly legs were great too!

I’m gonna miss him to be fair, even if it’s for the best.

So many games where we were pinned back and he shut some of the best footballers on the planet. He’s one player whose sale is the right decision but I have nothing negative whatsoever. He’s always been highly professional and his one on one defending is immense.

That preseason game against Inter in his debut season was something special considering the dross we had before.

Always enjoyed knowing he was right back when opponent had a dangerous left sided attacker. Didn't offer enough in attack but he was very capable of marking good attackers out of a game

When we beat City 2-0 at Old Trafford just before the covid shutdown, he went past Sterling and the City leftback in one smooth dribble into our box followed by gasps from the crowd. He went on to make a terrible cross after that brilliant bit of play though. He was so crucial in all of our good performances against City, including the FA Cup win.

He and Tuanzebe shut down Neymar and Mbappe in that PSG game, right?
Zaha, Sterling, ASM all got pocketed by AWB.

The shock when he gave away his first penalty, because he almost always got it right on the lunge in the box before that. I was flabbergasted

I felt the ‘Spider-Wan’ hype got to his head a little bit then, was a really daft penalty.

He really has all the tools to be a very good dribbling wing back and I'll never understand how coaching didn't get this out of him. I would have taught him the "Matthews" move (inside outside) and had him practice this over and over. He should be great at that given his skills and quickness.

I wish you well AWB!
