Five substitutions are permitted in Serie A I believe so gives him a decent chance of some game time. Hopefully it'll be a good loan so he can get a permanent move somewhere.

Good luck to Axel. I doubt he will feature for United, so here is hoping he has a successful career elsewhere.

Hopefully he does really well over there so we can sell him this time.

Tuanzebe is an error-prone.

Does Napoli have a defensive crisis or something? Generally these loans to top 4 teams in other leagues are not not good, because there's very little incentive to play our players over their own youth prospects.

Came on to shore the game up, one header out and a few touches so will see how he features in other games.
He wasn't on for long, but I though he looked pretty good, actually- a few nice touches and at least one really nice vertical pass out of defence.

Manolas left to Greece and Koulibaly went to AFCON, they only have 2 CBs, and now Axel.

Played pretty regularly under Smith - didnt get a look in once Gerrard arrived
He played only half the minutes under Smith, hardly a regular. He was 3rd choice under Smith and he was 3rd choice for Gerrard. Smith played a back 3 which was terrible and even hooked Axel at half once because he was so shit. When Smith played a 4 it was Axel who was dropped. Gerrard switched to back 4 and their results improved. He came off the bench twice for Gerrard so that’s also wrong.

He didn’t play because he was shit and considerably worse than Konsa and Mings. Gerrard is performing and looking to solidify himself as an option for Liverpool’s next manager. He’s not going to hamper his chances over some petty shit if Axel was actually any good. He isn’t though, so was rightly sat on the bench where he belonged.

He started 8 of Smith's 13 matches in charge this season so yes he was playing regularly under him

Im sure Gerrard dumped him because hes a United player on loan - TBF to Gerrard it might not even be the rivalry reason as new managers often dont use loan players, happens all the time after clubs change managers than the loanees get dumped

Anyway its a great move to get from Birmingham to Napoli so fair play to his agent - lets hope he gets game time

His agent sounds a bit delusional if you ask me. If you believe the press, our players don't half surround themselves with some half-wits.

His agent is also his brother so he's obviously looking at it from a personal point of view as well as business. But, yes you're definitely correct regarding players surrounding themselves with halfwits.

Don’t want him back based on his stupid agent comments alone.

That's sad, really thought he would turn into a solid starter for us in the future.

A few say this but sadly most of our "star" juniors we have wraps on aren't as good as we think. Who would have thought Angel Gomes is doing nothing in France. Very very hard to step up from juniors to seniors. Most can play good professional soccer but not elite at a high level. Shows how good CR, Rooney, Giggs, Becks, Mason, Rash are.

He’s never looked a player capable of playing at the highest level. Championship career ahead.

Trying to work out whether United are agreeing to loan him to clubs that are bad moves, or he just underwhelms everywhere.

Google got him as 24 yrs old. We should be looking to move on. He's been here under a few managers now and if he was any good would have been playing for the first team by now.

He is so shiite, he was quick to criticise the club in their handling of loans and the like. Can't even get game time in a mid table PL club then can't make a Europa league squad.

Better loaning a player to a shit team with a clear gap in said position than to a team where there are already established players/starters. Feels like we've too often loaned players out based on promises, rather than their being a clear position for a player to play in.

I was dubious when I heard he was going from not getting a game at mid-table Villa to a loan move at a side competing for the Serie A title.

Have to say I’m surprised. I don’t think he ever looked top class, but he seemed to have an excellent attitude and enough ability to as good as guarantee a solid career.

Anther player that United held onto for too long, maybe.

I guess him pocketing Neymar that one time is the defensive equivalent of Macheda’s goal against Aston Villa.
