I just don't see it - same with Yoro and Rio; they are not alike.

Heaven is much more comfortable on the ball than Brown - plays more like a midfielder at CB with the ball; a little like Martinez in that respect, but not seen the long range passing yet. Brown was much more all action - great recovery pace, sliding tackles to make AWB blush, and tough as nails. I feel Heaven is fairly tough, but he's also more refined. Not sure who he reminds me of - not close to Rio physically, but he does use the ball more like him than Brown, imo of course.

He reminds me (the lesser version) of van Dijk.

Honestly I think he's more akin to Rio than Yoro is. Really calm on the ball and still has some growing up to do. Honestly so happy we pulled off this deal.

Yoro i'm just not convinced at all, would like to see him at CB. Heaven on the other hand, certified baller. He'll make, no doubt about that!

Burnley 2:2 Man Utd New
Genuinely think we should try him at CM in the FA Cup game. Hes not a CB at all.

Thought he was kind of poor today to be honest. Didn't have a ton to do, but didn't really deal with it well. Missed sitter too, but he looked a bit awkward as the RCB in a back 4. He's young and learning and all that, needs to relearn normal back 4 vs the instincts you get in a back 3.

Think it should be Martinez vs Heaven for LCB and Yoro vs De Ligt for RCB when hes back.

I think he would really benefit from a loan playing week in week out at the PL, for a low table team.

He has huge potential but that's another goal caused by lack of urgency and sensing danger recently (Leeds, Bournemouth). It sort of shows that he's a converted defender, and largely played at youth levels where you don't get punished in the same way by slight misjudgements.

Shame he missed that chance but I thought he showed a lot of resilience after the own goal which was a bit of a freak. Played assuredly at he back and even made a few forward runs with the ball to get attacks moving. He seems to have quite a lot to his game which is a huge positive at his age.

I think Martinez was telling him off for that. It was like his muscle memory was still 343, and he was leaving Martinez alone on the halfway line instead of just playing the ball forward. Thought it was an erratic performance and he seemed upset with himself when he was subbed. He's obviously super young. But the 3-4 performances prior were very positive, so he'll shake it off.

I didnt clock that but fair enough and understandable. Quite funny how I deem that as pretty impressive whilst Ayden's getting an earful from an actual professional for it

Missed a sitter but overall he was good.
Dalot fell asleep to let the player get behind him anyway but that is hardly surprising.

Doing that thing of not closing down the space, being standoffish again and then to make it worse, had his hands before his back before he even got anywhere near the player. I thought he was decent aside from that.

When it comes to young players, it's often said 'he'll learn from that' but I'm not really sure about these tendencies, technical approaches and readings of the game. You really need someone to sit you down and have an experience player in that position to teach you those things; Martinez seems like he's doing a job on the pitch with his vocal guidance there. Hopefully Fletcher will give him other wise words of advice though to keep that concentration and hunger going.

He's clearly a talented footballer but he needs to get more aggressive. Dangling a weak leg out to block a cross is not good enough, that's how deflections like tonight happen.

As stated also, looks uncomfortable at rcb but I still prefer him to Yoro at the moment.

I think it's a bit harsh to blame him for that. He was much more aggressive than previously - he faced a similar situation for Semenyo's first goal a few weeks back and didn't even attempt to close him down, this time he was much more proactive. It's a good sign that he's picking up on where he went wrong.

I primarily blame Casemiro for not tracking the runner but I think all of our defenders (outside of Maguire and De Ligt) are too lax when it comes to the basics of defending: getting tight to your man and blocking shots and crosses like your life depended on it.

Yeah he kind of half came out to the guy, but he needs to get right in the guy's face and block the ball. It's happening every game with all our defenders really, it's no coincidence that we can't keep a clean sheet, even in matches we're controlling.

Heaven is a very promising young player - no more, no less. He was an absolute bargain and I’m very glad we have him, but the jury is out regarding his ceiling. He’s had some nice moments , but some tough ones as well. We’re fortunate he’s played as well as he has, given the injuries we’ve had. However, I think he’s currently being asked to do too much (again, primarily due to injuries). He’s not good enough yet to start every match. Hopefully when some players return his progression can be managed a bit more carefully. We’ve been playing minnows, but have some legitimate teams coming up. All of the minutes may help him, but it’ll cost us points.

Are people not realising he is left footed and is playing right CB? Normally, even the most experienced CB find it difficult to do well in wrong footed positions. You body positions are unnatural. Also, he has been playing at 3CBs system for so long, it will take to adjust.

I agree, got the right ball carrying skills for the middle. Would love to see him as defensive mid.

There were rumours that he left Arsenal because they didn't want to play him as a DMF. He's so comfortable on the ball.

Without looking, I would wager the majority of CBs in the league who play as the LCB in a back 4 are right footed...

Picking up Yoro's habit of just standing there with his hands behind his back. Yoro does it on the half way however.

You can also see that Heaven used to be a DM/CM in his youth days, moves gracefully with the balls coming forward. I don't think there is question marks over him long term, he's going to be a quality player but I don't really think CB's are fully ready until 23-24 and he's still a bit away from then so mistakes are too be expected.

Not sure he is a CM either. Would like to see him in a similar role as Calafiori have at LB at Arsenal. Think it could be good for his development. And good for Man Utd as we need a backup or someone to challenge Luke Shaw.

I think Pep did the same with Gvardiol at first. Using him more out wide.

Are you the same user claiming it over and over again?

What does give you the impression he could cover the ground that well in midfield and being able to execute passes under way more pressure. Or is that the opening he saw and made the surging run forward which make you think that? It often happens to CBs because they are not marked as tightly as CMs. He's got perfect build and skillset for CB and should stay there.

He should try to be more aggressive ( already better than Yoro in that regard) and learn form mistakes. Still young player so we can expect that.

I was more pissed about that appalling header he took, which was a clear cut chance. Blimey that was a horrible miss.

He and Yoro have probably been the most affected negatively since the system change with Mainoo benefiting the most. Wonder if he might go on loan next season? We have Maguire (who I can see getting an extra year or two with Carrick) Martinez, De Ligt and Yoro probably being ahead in the pecking order.

He was doing pretty well under Amorim and clearly has talent.

I think it depends on what happens with Maguire, if he leaves the 4 we have left would all get game time assuming we’re in Europe.

Could Heaven cover in either full back spot?

He needs to make sure he can play LB as well. Like many CBs have done over the years, Wes Brown as an example.

All of our CBs are injury prone, and we are playing the least games as a club for more than 100 years. He will get plenty of time next season as long as we are in Europe.

Agreed with CBs playing FB, especially young ones.

Been reasonably promising, but getting Maguire back shows the tiers of quality. Especially when most of us recognise we probably need a better starter than Maguire fairly short term.

I wouldn't have him going on loan and I wouldn't have Yoro, who's been not performed well lately, ahead of him at all.

He's good enough to play now, hasn't done a lot wrong and there should be a lot more games next season so we'll need a bigger squad.
