He is coming along nicely.
Great young acquisition for the club.

Good header.

Find it strange him playing in this sort of international when he’s involved in top flight premier league football.

You forget how young both he and Yoro are!

U20s is normally a good level. A really nice platform for promising players to start to stand out in ways that are important at first team levels but without quite the same spotlight as the U21s seems to bring.

With Heaven and Yoro, why is there talk of us signing another young CB? If Maguire comes back and in theory Licha and de Ligt get healthy is there a need? (maybe I answered my own question with the health...)

I really like Heaven, I bet he gets a lot of minutes next season.

I think that is the problem isn't it?

The fact that at any given time we are likely to be dependent on Maguire and the two young lads.

It's a bit of a tricky one to plan for. I said in another thread that a best case scenario would be a starting quality left back to take over from Shaw who can also cover at centre back. A left footed Timber.

I agree about Heaven, I think he's absolute class.

Good point in Shaw. In my humble opinion he should not be the go to starter at left back but would be great cover CB and LB.

Because theyve had a lot of games next to a senior CB where we were too weak defensively. They've also had a few good games. But they cant be relied on yet based on their performances. We've been good when we've had 2 senior CBs playing, after struggling with a senior CB + Heaven or Yoro. Now we've had a loss, a win and a draw with a senior CB + Yoro so our form can go either way.

Maguire is also end of contract and being paid way too much, has had fitness issues alongside De Ligt and Lisandro so we will have a space available to replace him as someone we can count on

I think that's a bit harsh on Heaven, indicating the poor matches outweigh the good. He did have a couple of poor games at the start of this season and Amorim then dropped him for a while (correctly), but he was good for his few games last season and he was playing well when getting back into the team again this season (other than his first game if I remember correctly). So overall I think the good performances comfortably outnumber the shaky ones for him. The only three times he played in a back four he was arguably MOM in the first (Newcastle) then was quite good against Wolves and Burnley (although scored an unfortunate own goal in the latter). It is a small sample size though.

I'd agree with you more with Yoro. He was mostly good last season (very good for a few months towards the end) but has been mostly shaky this season. It's why I'm a little disappointed in Carrick for installing him completely ahead of Heaven again, instead of letting them battle it out evenly since Heaven had been outperforming him before that. Unless Yoro has simply looked much better in training.

Looks like he will start our next game as Martinez and De Ligt are injured, plus Maguire is suspended. Unless Carrick opts to play Shaw at left centre back, but then who would he play as left back?

Leeds are one of the stronger teams on set pieces, so we will need some height. Hope he plays.

Massive shame for this guy with how far he’s fallen down the pecking order. Very surprised more isn’t being said about it, but maybe our fans have forgot how well he was playing under Amorim. Yoro has had a bit of an off season, I just find it bewildering that Carrick doesn’t give him a chance. If he’s still in charge next season then we need to send Heaven out on loan before his good progress is completely ruined.

Maguire-Heaven should start the next game.

Heaven has generally been more impressive than Yoro when he's played in my opinion. Keeps a nice balance with a left footer too, our best CB on the ball after Martinez.

He needs to be above Yoro in the pecking order, surely we’ve seen enough proof of that by now.
I don’t think Heaven gets bullied to anywhere near the same level as Yoro.

Completely agree but Carrick blind to it

I'm very disappointed he's had hardly any minutes, considering our back line. I can see why an interim wouldn't bother though.

Think it's fairly likely that Carrick will find a way to not play Heaven against Chelsea.

I think the only option other that Heaven / Yoro is Maz as the right CB. I can’t see Carrick wanting to start Ugarte is playing Casemiro at the back, and we have no other left back, so Shaw can’t play CB - although thinking out loud Shaw could play CB and Maz left back.

What a disaster.

Just play the two CBs in their correct positions. They need experience, they need to play big games.
