No ... We didn't!!
No ... We didn't!!
Maguire isn't even a better PL-CB. He's feckin rubbish. I'd much rather see Heaven, I liked what I saw last year, especially against LeicesterFor sure. Wasn't aware that he didn't feature in U21 games either but I guess he is considered a sub for the 1st team and depending on the schedule, they might not want to risk the sub. But you are right, they have to give him playing time, especially in this age, it is so important to play on a regular basis.
100%... Which is one of the reasons I considered Maguire staying such a pointless move. We don't get anything playing him - of course he is a more experienced and surely better PL-CB at this point in time but his moment has long gone. Heavens still in front of him. So if the routiniers don't even get you results - just play the younger players. Heaven at least is more suited to a higher line approach.
What's a 'Grimsby'?What are you talking about? We never played Grimsby.
Yeah I don't understand why Maguire even deserves time right now, he's been horrible when given minutes. Same with ShawNo idea why he’s not getting any minutes. We looked extremely slow at the back once Yoro went off and Harry came on. Ruben needs to stop making the same silly moves and invest in the players for the future.
We don't know what's happening in training, it might not be a good time.No idea why he’s not getting any minutes. We looked extremely slow at the back once Yoro went off and Harry came on. Ruben needs to stop making the same silly moves and invest in the players for the future.
We don't have enough backup. This one was very predictable, said before the season that Heaven, Zirkzee and Mainoo likely wouldn't play much. Not a huge deal with Heaven, we should loan him out though. You don't need a 20 man squad when you aren't in Europe. It's why Shaw has actually managed to stay fit for 2 months.
For CB we have De ligt, yoro, Shaw, Maguire, mazraoui and Martinez will be back soon. We also have Heaven and Fredricson as young players. You don't need that many options when you play 1 game a week. This isn't a season where you have European football - or even carabao Cup football. We will have 6 senior options for CB when Martinez returns not including Heaven or Fredricson. Just way too many.We don't have enough backup.
Considering how often they get injured, I would say it's better to keep him. Also they don't all fit this style of play, so he might not be as far away from game time as you think. For CB we have De ligt, yoro, Shaw, Maguire, mazraoui and Martinez will be back soon. I definitely think we'll loan loan him in January but the club wanted 2 players per position in the meantimeConsidering how often they get injured, I would say it's better to keep him. Also they don't all fit this style of play, so he might not be as far away from game time as you think.
Yea that's fair, I think it would be good for him, but I understand holding onto him while we had injuries.I definitely think we'll loan loan him in January but the club wanted 2 players per position in the meantime
Yeah for him I get it as he's not at a point where minutes are that important yet. Just was predictable he wouldn't play much.Yea that's fair, I think it would be good for him, but I understand holding onto him while we had injuries.
Maybe if we were still in the cup...Yeah for him I get it as he's not at a point where minutes are that important yet. Just was predictable he wouldn't play much.
He’d not make the bench if he wasn’t doing it in training. Lad is physically a far better fit than Shaw or Martinez for the left sided role. Then he should 100% be the one coming off the bench late in games, over someone whose contract is done at the end of the season and won’t be here anymore. Players don’t develop if they’re not given opportunities.Shaw is terrible. Maguire looks slower than ever. Heaven has shown fine promise. Unless he is stinking it up in training, he should be getting some playing time as the lad is clearly one for the future.
I really do not understand Amorim with his selection at LCB. He entrusted Heaven last season, the lad did pretty well and now, he goes and gives Shaw a run of games?!?He’d not make the bench if he wasn’t doing it in training. His body does seem very fragile though at the moment, he seems to get subbed off with an injury every time he starts a game.
Played for the u20’s today went down injured after 2 mins but played on . Was substituted at half time .
Heaven was poor in preseason and the few minutes he's had this season. If that's also what he's shown in training, it'd be poor management to throw him in to continue his struggles in front of the eyes of millions and suffer the criticism and loss of confidence that would come from it.I really do not understand Amorim with his selection at LCB. As he is a coach who brought plenty of youngsters through at Sporting, developing some of them into really good players, then gave a few chances last season at his new job, it surprises me. Head scratcher to say the least...I hope he gets his chance soon, would be great if he and Yoro became the long term future at CB.
If we have Europe next year, and with Martinez a complete crock, extending Maguire is no bad option. Shaw will not be able to play two games a week.Maguire contract extension talks might say something about the clubs confidence in him being ready to start regularly in the next year

Yoro was brilliant. Probably the best defender this season after de Ligt.Starter for me, maybe even over Yoro.

Really, come on... Hes no where near Yoro's level. Heaven will be a quality player but he's no where near good enough to be starting. His aerial presence is just not there at minute.
