The only position that is suitable for him to play right now is LCB in a 3. I don't think he was helped by not having either MDL or Maguire today also as Yoro was poor.

He’s not a regular starter!

We have three players unavailable (MDL, Maguire and Maz), and another CB who his just coming off of a massive injury.

Squad players still play games!
He shouldn't start for us full stop then. Martinez is probably far from 100 % yet, but would still have preferred him at 85 % today.

Well we should be able to get our money back in january.

We definitely shouldn’t be pairing him up with Yoro. Both are too inexperienced and I don’t think they are in good form either.
The problem is, MDL, Maguire and now Mazraoui are unavailable. Unless we try a 4-3-3 with a CB pairing of Martinez and Shaw (or start Fredricson), we need to play at least either of them

Maybe Ruben believes in him. Got to give young players chances, right ? The United way.

I think you are wrong.

He clearly needs experience. Also you had two very young players and a converted left back. If we had MDL or Maguire in there, it would have improved that unit a great deal. There was no experience.

I thought it was very naive to persevere with both him and Yoro for so long in this game. He's very raw. Playing one youngster in a critical position is brave, but playing two is insanity.

With the ball he was pretty good but defensively he was awful, he just kept backing off and no idea what he was doing for their second goal.

This is the reality with a young player with limited experience though and if he is playing he needs to be at LCB.

Well, young or not, this was 1/10 performance. His decision making and positioning were simply awful.

He looks very natural on the ball, capable of making powerful runs. In that sense he suits the 3 at the back system quite well, definitely better than Yoro who looks like fish out of water.

Not great at defending but the CBs got too exposed too many times today by weak midfield.

He did the same thing Martinez did for their other goal. Stood off and didn't follow the run goal side.

Inexperienced player being let down by the more experienced players players around him.

He wasn't great but he needs help from the older players. Shaw was much worse and arguably the source of 3 goals for Bournemouth.

His defending (or non-defending) for the first goal is genuinely some of the worst you'd see at this level. Really inexplicable.

Although, Somewhere Victor Lindelof was watching on with immense pride @golden_blunder

Great on the ball but positionally suspect on a few of those goals. Hes shown much better promise as a LCB. He’ll learn. Great potential.

Lapses in concentration but is a good footballer. Could he not play in midfield?

It was a horror show from him tonight defensively, which is a real shame as he showed some brilliant composure on the ball early on.

The poor marking for the 2nd and 4th goals can be forgiven, young players are going to get caught out like that sometimes, but the first goal was inexplicable, there isn't a level at which defenders are expected to ignore opposition players and let them have the freedom of the box.

He even had Mount screaming at him to come across. Way too passive there, but he'll learn, for sure. I think he's going to the very top, something about him.

He is not starting material right now. Would benefit from a loan to another PL side or even the championship.

This will be a big learning experience for him, no doubt.

I was really impressed with him on the ball, he's got huge potential, but there's no hiding from him being probably the biggest reason for us dropping points tonight.

Looked every bit a young player learning on the job defensively tonight.

There’s something there but I think he’d benefit from half a season out on loan playing games and getting experience.

Obviously a very bad night for him, but not helped by who he had around him either. Just needed one of the older heads next to him to help guide him through the game. It’s hard to think of a worse combo of CB partners for such a young and inexperienced player.

Doesnt look ready. I'd only play him if we have 2 first choice CBs next to him, De Ligt+him+1

Obviously he was needed due to injuries but I think with 3 CBs starting each week we probably need another reliable player to fill in for others and he cant do that yet.

He's like Bailly. Decent on the ball but a liability in actually defending

I like the lid but he’s nowhere near ready, especially to play central pivot CB, crazy decision by Amorim in last two games and he’s been hung out to dry.

In the same way we went to pick up Mbeumo and Cunha from middle PL teams and taking their best players, it’s time to do the same in defence and midfield.

If we are seriously going to indulge this coach and allow him to learn on the job which is basically what he’s been doing in the EPL for the last 12 months. Then we need to be ruthless.

Aiden Heaven should be 7th choice CB and work his way up over the next couple of years, Lenny Yoro should be 4th or 5th.

MDL should be 2nd, a fit Martinez 3rd, Harry Maguire 4th and Shaw/Mazroui putting them under pressure however we need a number 1 CB whose quick, physical and read the game, we need to spend £60-70m to get an absolute beast

The fact that we’ve kept 8 clean sheets in his 59 matches that he’s overseen is a reason enough to sack him before the next game. However conceding 26 PL goals in 16 matches this season after his awful period last year should be the reason to sack him.

Last year under Ruben his United team in 27 PL matches conceded an average of 1.55 goals per match, this season he’s actually made the team worse defensively with 26 goals conceded from 16 PL matches at 1.63 that’s a sackable offence, fans will defend Ruben but he picks the players, sets the team up and makes more defensive subs than any other PL manager,!

Let’s this sink in, we are worse this season defensively and Onana is not playing!

If there’s a player who needs De Ligt back, it’s Heaven (and Yoro).

We looked disorganised and weak all night. It wasn’t their fault as such, but they needed someone to lead them through the difficult spell from 40th to the 50th minute.

That’s what happens when 2 of the 3 are teenagers in a confused mess of a defence
Yet the fanbase keep wanting to add more kids into the mix. Tonight is what happens (defensively) when there's not enough experience in key positions.
Heaven (19yo) was naive on more than one occasion tonight, so too was Yoro (20yo). Add to that Kobe (20yo) who comes on and does well offensively, but where was he when he should have been filling the gap in front of the back 3?

MDL and Harry are huge misses currently.
And we still have to play Dalot :(

Unfortunately whilst I think he is talented, its clear him and Yoro are suffering from a chronic lack of experience, and reality for me is that they don't currently play together if we can help it. And if they have to, that we have someone like MDL or Maguire in the backline. Otherwise it doesn't look great.

Ok but we have one of the best offenses in the league. Don’t bring that up while ignoring the other part. It’s disingenuous

Yeah, for sure, but I think you could say the same for every CB we had on the pitch last night. Unfortunately we had little choice in the CB department.

Bad performance. In reality though, this is expected. I remember Pique and Evans having similar awful games at this age. I think it is good he is included in the starting eleven or at least in the squad this year. However, next year a loan should be considered so he can get a full season as a starter. Really needs it.

Wasn't he originally a midfielder, he played like one who's been asked to play center back yesterday.
At the left of the back three it could work but at the middle not a chance he's not capable at all.
