Interesting read. I agree with most of it tbf. He has the profile to be starter in a year or two.

I'd wouldn't mind seeing him play the odd game at left back, couldn't do him any harm, he's got the athleticism and technical ability for it. Would benefit him in the long run too.

It’s quite common for centre backs to play as full back. With his experience as growing up as a midfielder, it feels like he should at least be tried there. Shaw is basically a non entity going forward these days, so we aren’t losing from that perspective.

I’ll join the band calling for him to get games at full back too. I actually said this in the potential centre back singings thread a while back. His good with moving forward with the ball and has the speed to go outside and the composure to step inside.
Similar to Yoro on the right at the min I could see them getting games in the wide positions to add solidity in certain matches and to get them game time.

I think his best position may be as a holding midfielder. Casemiro replacement

I’m a fan of players being adaptable and he has played there before for Arsenal youth teams I believe. However I’d like someone maybe a bit more mobile for the role and having Heaven’s composure at the back is definitely an asset.

Last season, he’s not playing regularly. But when he’s been called, he’s generally always up to the task. It’s pretty impressive, actually.

Really like his style also. He’s aggressive and skillful. Really have a high hope for him.

Still a bit too clumsy for my liking losing concentration to make up for it with a last ditch tackle. But plenty of time on his side. More agressive than Yoro which gives him edge though.

Will probably see some action with others injury prone and hope he gets a run of games.

It is so important for him to stay injury free. I have been burnt before with Axel Tuanzebe and his performance against PSG, so I am trying not to hype him up in my mind. So many things can go wrong with young players, but let's keep our fingers crossed!

Really think he’s going to have a big season. Came from a better team to get playing time, which I think shows a good mentality and a good head on his shoulders. Has impressed me a lot more than Yoro.

Class again, showed a range of passing we haven't seen too much of previously. I think he's benefitting from having Maguire as a partner though...for all Harry's limitations you can see he's great at talking a more junior partner through games.

Impressed with his passing. Shames he's not right footed, as him and Martinez in the same side would be amazing for playing out from the back.

Needs to get as many minutes as we can give him.

Still has lapses of concentration and his judgement of the flight of the ball but he's such a promising talent.

You need to back a youngster at some point. When Martinez is unavailable, the position should be his automatically. He should be in the conversation too even when Martinez is available.

Have the player battling it out. I hope Carrick instills some competition in if one does not play well, replaced right away

It helps with the extra games this season. If Carrick wants to be successful he needs to rotate his squad making competition for places easier as players get to stake their claim in competitive games and not just cameos and in training.

Rotating successfully is difficult though. Fingers crossed. I'm excited to see how it plays out.

Was really dissapointed when Martinez displaced him as soon as he returned from... was it injury or suspension? Hope he gets more opportunities this season. That LCB role should be his for the taking.

He should get opportunity to stake his claim at the start of the season, he was very unlucky and shouldn’t have been dropped for Martinez at the end of last season.

In an ideal world he makes that LCB his own this season.

This guy on the ball is a joke. Wand of a left foot. Seriously has potential to be Licha esque. Some of those balls fired into Dorgu in the first half today vs. Leti were top top quality.

It’s obvious he used to be a midfielder.

To be honest, he already looks a completely different level to anything Tuanzebe ever showed.

Think he's a massive talent, he has a habit of being a little rash but nothing alarming and still very impressive for such a young defender.

If we don’t sign a left back I imagine he’ll get a lot of minutes there as well.

Him and Yoro really need to play more this year.

Wasn’t as good as he has been yesterday, but some of his long range passes were a joy to watch.

Still can't believe we managed to nick him from Arsenal for peanuts. At the very least, he looks like he could develop into a solid squad member for a number of years.

A glaring weakness so far is how he deals with crosses, both in the ground and in the air.

Young & learnin and all that…

Great shout. I hadn't thought of that but he would make a very useful left back.

As he always been a player that passes forward and breaks lines? Or is this Carrick developing his game? We know that Carrick is opting for his players to pass forward and play vertical passing. We’ve seen this a lot in pre season and with the signings he’s made
