Anyone seen this?

I think its very good. Thought it would be crap but surprisingly good. Its a show about an ex-con(s) and the main character who was released from prison somehow becomes a sheriff of a town called Banshee.

Its on Cinemax so has the full treatment of violence and nudity. Sky Atlantic have picked it up in the UK I believe.

Worth watching for her alone! Good show as well...

Yep, she's quality. Still prefer the female cop a bit more though.

Love this show now! Only started watching it after I saw this thread but I've watched 3 episodes and they've all been really good.
I think it got better for me after the 4th/5th episode. As long as people accept some stupid stuff will happen on the show its fine (happens on every show), for me there is more than enough good stuff in the show to account for some poor things.

Finished the season yesterday and it was a good finale. Set things up very well for season 2.

Rabbit is a great character, want him to stick around for as long as possible. Like having 2 villains on the show. Though Kai's decision making seemed a bit odd, why would he blow up a building when the FBI are hanging around? It was OK when he had the sheriff in his pocket but with FBI checking everything in detail thats just stupid.

The whole fighter and Hood video thing still bugs me. How did that not make the news? Surely a successful pro fighters career getting ended would make the news and you'd expect the real Hood's son and one of Rabbit's men to have seen it a lot earlier.

Some really great things in the show but some really annoying and very hard to believe things as well. I'm a couple episodes behind now too.

Well the whole premise is silly, a convict who has just been released from prison steals a sheriff's identity! But it's entertaining, has tits and some good violence and actually characters that you like/dislike.

I like it.

Watched the whole season, enjoyed that a lot. I like the fact that there are two villains, Kai and Rabbit (terrible name), that are both excellent characters. One thing confused me in the finale though

Why was the Mayor in that building at the end? Did Kai know he was going to be there and killed him or was it a pure coincidence? If it was a coincidence then it makes no fecking sense and that is some lazy writing. No mention of the Mayor for a few episodes and then he is randomly sitting in an unfinished Casino building and it explodes? WUT.

Also, anyone else picking up incestuous vibes from Kai and Rebecca or is my mind fecked?

The two villains was good. Makes it less boring.

It was incredibly random. They tried to link to it with him saying he's been trying to get the casino up and running but Kai got his fingers into that too.

The episode long fight scene between Olek (who was a good character, shame he's gone) and Ana was just over the top. The fight between Lucas and Kai next episode was much more realistic.

The whole fight scene with the fighter still bugs me. How in the world does nobody (from Rabbit's side or the real Lucas' kid) see that video before the finale? Surely a successful fighter's career getting ended is news worthy.

Also as for Kai and his niece, they've been hinting at that from the second episode or something when we realise they know each other. Hope they don't really go there

Watched the first two episodes last night, it's good so far. They take a silly premise and make it (sort of) convincing, it's well polished and well written, and I can see it continuously improving.

And The Amish bird, oh the Amish bird, my fecking GOD!

Just finished it. Loved the first season. Sure there's some utter tripe and unrealistic garbage in it, and I still can't decide which of the actors are crap because all of them have crap moments but then redeem themselves. There's some amazing woman in it, Rebecca, Siobhan and the Indian bird being the picks of them and the naughty scenes are pretty well done. I've recommended it to a few people and I'm glad S2 is being made.

I have never seen so many plot twists before and look forward to watching season 2. I suggest anyone that likes bloody action scenes to watch every episode immediately. I have to thank eboue for recommending it.

I'm not usually into gross bloody shit but they got the balance OK with this. A lot of the fight scenes were really well done and actually exciting to watch.

I really enjoyed it, but the fight scenes were so over the top, not the violence bit, I love me a bit of violence, but at times it felt like half of the episode was being taken up by a single fight (Carrie and the foreign guy, Lucas and the UFC guys (which was retarded), Lucas and the Albino, Lucas and Kai etc etc), they just took so damn long that by around the third fight I was bored senseless.

it's an insanely brutal show though, for shock factor probably even more so than Spartacus, cause in Spartacus it's all very CGI and stuff, but in this, not so much. I mean the bit with the Albino was crazy!

The fight scenes are some of the most stupid things I have seen but its balanced out with good stuff elsewhere. The fight with the MMA guy and the fight between Carrie and Olek was beyond stupid. Only fight I can remember seeming realistic was the fight between Lucas and Kai.

I hope they can keep the balance right next season without going too far to top the first season

Starts on Sky Atlantic on Monday. Nice to see the show get a decent channel in the UK, I should imagine it will become quite popular.

I've watched the first two episodes and I am baffled as to why you guys like this. The obvious comparison is Justified: lawman who doesn't play things by the book deals with criminals in a backwater town. Except where Justified has Olyphant, Goggins and tons of great character actors from Deadwood, Banshee has a bunch of nobodies and the police chief from The Wire. The source material for Justified is Elmore Leonard, whereas Banshee seems to take its inspiration from one of the worst films of all time, Roadhouse. The ex-Amish criminal guy is ridiculously cartoonish and the rest of the cops are just basic stock characters. I'll watch another episode or two but it's not very good so far. It's pretty obvious which one is an FX show and which one is a Cinemax show.

Please don't compare it to that muck, Justified. And since when was Elephant a good actor? He's fecking shit. You're in love with him, aren't you? You're blinded by love.
The comparison is obvious. I'm starting to think that you've never actually watched Justified and you are just winding me up.* I don't think Olyphant is great by any means. He certainly lacks range to play more than a couple of basic character types but he is a million times better than Random Tough Guy who Cinemax hired when Jason Statham turned them down.

*If this is wrong, don't correct me because the other option is that you are a moron with horrible taste.

Fixed.

Whatever floats your boat, Eboue. I'm not judging you, I just think that rating tv shows based on how sexy you find the lead male character is a flawed system.

I'm sure Justified is a great show once season two hits, but season one bored me to death, there was barely any continuous plot and the episode-per-episode plots were a borefest. I couldn't make it as far as season two. At least Banshee has a recurring plot, and it doesn't take itself too seriously.

It's just a decent show but I wouldn't say it's anything special. I watched the full season and enjoyed it for what it is, I think they did well with what is obviously a low budget for the show. I'v never seen Justified but I hate shows without a recurring story so it's probably not for me.

Justified does have a recurring storyline. The first half of season one is more setting the scene but even in season 1, there is a overarching storyline that starts about halfway through. Seasons 2-4 are all definitely serialized as well.

I don't want to make this another Justified thread though, it just surprises me how Cina and Phil like this show and not Justified when they have the same basic premise but Justified is more of a B+ show and this is a C show.
