Good joke, ticket revenue is nothing these days when you look at transfer spending
Right, they are going to pay everything off within a season. They need to keep ticket revenue going and over a certain period that will suffice.

@crossy1686 I meant to say they are NOT going to pay everything off within a season. And that’s fine, they just need to keep revenue up and they should with all the new signings to pay off the debt eventually

In 2018/2019 Barcelona made just over €200m in revenue at the stadium. They also made a record €990m in revenue that year across all channels, yet their pre tax profit was €17m…

They need to fill the stadium every single day for the next year to balance those books.

Despicable fans, booing and whistling their own players for not accepting the club's punishing terms.

I hope someone like Braithwaite sues the club until they pay him every penny they owe him.

For what reason exactly? He also gets his salary like every other player. Hilarious that people still think barca doesn't pay their players.
And on the booing:
First of all it's a minority. Only because a minority a loud, it doesn't mean they speak for all culers so stop generalizing. Also it's partly his own fault with his behaviour. Barca received some okay offers for him during last season and this summer. He blocks them all, because he wants his letter of freedom to receive a signing fee. By the way Dursun is also his agent and it's a reason, why Dursun plays hard with Frenkie's deferred wage case right now, because Barca doesn't help him making more money with Braithwaite.
I can't wait for the day, when finally all Barto's mistakes leave the club and peace will settle in. €15m yearly Masa Salarial for a player like Braithwaite, who never should have been in the club in the first place.

Bold of you to think there will be peace.

Your club is and will continue to be a circus for a very long time. Getting a few high payed players out won't magically make your club financially healthy so expect sagas like these to be a recurring occurrence.

What a load of bollocks..if you would have signed a huge contract with any club in the world and they would be trying to break the agreement of that contract would you just say OK?..Barcelona are acting in a manner not befitting the idea that was Barcelona and surely are heading for a financial meltdown.

Barcelona are not trying to break any agreement. Where did you get that information?
Barcelona have told the player that he will have few opportunities to play and that the best thing for him is to look for a team.

The player has received offers from other clubs where he would earn more than in Barcelona and has not accepted them. He wants to collect the 2 years of contract he has left and the letter of freedom (free transfer) to leave this summer.

And he's in his right to do so legally speaking.

Which clubs have offered him more than he would earn in Barcelona?

So their deal isn’t as good as it was reported to be? It was an even shittier deal?!
Looks like it gets even worse. The money Barca injected won't be counted by La Liga but since it's accounted as capital gain, there will be some tax on that. If the report is correct then they will have to pay 37 million as tax.

It's a technicality but for legal purposes, Barça includes 150 million in financial investments in the Assets of its balance sheet that it will amortize over the 25 years, but manages to have extraordinary income of 150 million in the two seasons so as not to make losses .

This move to Barça is going to cost a significant bill fiscally. Let us remember that in corporate tax, 25% is paid to the Tax Agency for profits. Barça will say that these 37.5 million taxes will be compensated with losses from other years (tax credit), but the reality is that they will always have 37.5 million more taxes to pay.

Yeah, what a shite to reject playing in the middle-east and insist on staying at one of your dream clubs, despite them having major PR-campaigns slamming you for staying at the club.

Barca surely have an entire team of tax experts who would have thought this through?!
I believe Grant Thornton are providing accountancy / tax advice for this ... they will be advising what is legal ... not necessarily what the Spanish league will accept

For example Barca could decide the wanted to buy player X... Grant Thorton can advise that they have the financial headroom to do so but that is not the same as complying with La Liga Rules

A club in absolute financial crisis has invested 10x better than we have this summer. That really stings..

They're proper dodgy, aren't they? They're also genuinely run worse than us, and that is saying something. Although they do appear to be run as a football club first.

For sure. There's the other little issue that a consultancy firm tends to tell its client what it wants to hear, when pushed hard enough - just leaving enough wiggle room in its disclaimers of memos to say "we told you it wasn't 100%, there's no liability" for when it comes crashing down, but making the client feel comfy when pushing its plan.

Which again would show massive short sightedness on Barça's part if that's the advice that they're basing their plan around.

Let's wait and see how their actual registered squad will look. At the moment they have a lot of players signed who are not yet allowed to play and as they still might have to sell some players to register the new signings it is far from sure that their squad improved.

Sure, l understand the tax guys will advice the club on the financial and legal aspects, specifically surrounding taxation. My point was for LaLiga to accept/reject something, that would be in adherence to the prevailing rules and not some random decision. To that effect, surely the club had experts think of this as a possibility and prepared their advice accordingly?

The issue here though sounds like Barca paid some of their money, possibly to inflate the deal and that money will now be subject to tax. Surely they (the club) knew before agreeing to this about the tax implications? Was this the of a calculated risk gone wrong? If it was, then the new admin isn’t really as competent as people seem to be giving them credit for.

Who's giving them credit for that? You mainly have Barça supporters in here regurgitating the PR of the club, and the rest of us looking in amazement at a burning house, highlighting it's a burning house, only for those fans to answer "the next lever will extinguish the fire".

Primarily the Barca supporters, with some of our supporters also appreciating their recruitment approach.
