This is the problem. You can't go into a CL campaign relying on 32 and 33 year olds as the spine of the team. This a a long-term failure of management.

I never understood why Barca let Thiago go as he represents what the club wants in a midfielder. This is just one example and I'm sure there are others.

They were always going to decline once Xaxi and Iniesta finished. The situation at Barca is not to dissimilar to the one we have gone through since SAF left. I think Barca should go back to basics and focus on bringing through the youth. They may suffer for a few seasons but in the longterm it will be beneficial

I'm just clarifying what Sid Lowe meant, he said after the Suarez window they didn't have a clear cut success transfer.
