They still have a very good team, we can’t deny that.
If they had a competent manger in place at the start of next season, some good summer recruitment plus all players fully fit I see no reason why they can’t reclaim back La Liga.

ter Stegan

Roberto
Lenglet, Pique
Alba

De Jong - Pjanic (double pivot)
Puig

Dembele
Suárez
Messi

Plus a strong bench of Griez, Vidal, Busquets, Fati, Umiti.

Granted they need new blood in the team but let’s not kid ourselves, this Barça team still has heaps to offer.
The problem with that line up is that those players are physically declining/declined.

They need to freshen up, and I don't think it'll be an easy process...

Brilliant, now they will have segunda level Rakitić playing extended minutes. I can understand Arthur, he's been used as a makeweight in an utterly moronic deal whose sole purpose is balancing the books and then the club practically froze him out in the league. Unprofessional behavior it may be, but understandable.
Players are still human at the end of the day, and the way they've treated him has been disgraceful. If they're that aggrieved at him they can always just cancel his contract, as the headline states.

Barcelona finished their season with more goals than Real Madrid which shows they still have quality to turn things around. Their players are declining but they still have players to build with as their foundation, they just need to make sure their recruitment need to be spot on & have the right manager. Three signings could give them boost to win La Liga.

GK: Ter Stegan
Back Four: Semedo/Roberto - CB - Lenglet - LB
Midfield: De Jong, Puig, Busquets, Pjanic, Vidal
Attackers: Messi, Suarez's replacement, Griezmann, Dembele, Fati

Stop predicting they'll decline. We started to sounds like rawk.

Teams transitions every 5 year. We of all club should know that, transition isnt the end of the world for barcelona. They're still a south american talent magnet and their la massia will guarantee they have fresh blood year in year out.

Their golden era is over along with messi, doesnt mean they'll do a united.

The lower sides in England are absolutely horrific.

Newcastle, Brighton, West Ham, Villa, Bournemouth etc. Id fancy the bottom 10 clubs in Spain to compete and beat many of the bottom 10 in England.
Bottom 5 or bottom 8 could be 50:50 but the PL mid table is definitely much superior than La Liga's mid table. Ancelotti is managing team in 12th spot!

Coutinho scoring twice is like the icing on the cake. Paid 135M for him, only to let him play for another club and nail in the final humiliation.

This is the problem. You can't go into a CL campaign relying on 32 and 33 year olds as the spine of the team. This a a long-term failure of management.

I never understood why Barca let Thiago go as he represents what the club wants in a midfielder. This is just one example and I'm sure there are others.

Are you kidding? Pique offered to step down from the team last night, which is crazy. He's fully taking on the blame.
You're right. Thanks.

Just saw the full interview, and not only the quotes above, which are somewhat out of context

Clickbait bulls*it as usual from journalists looking for all kinds of attention. To say there have been no successes in the transfer market is an absolute lie. Suarez joined in 2014 - was sensational for the first few years. Ter Stegen joined 2014 been a top gk. Have they made mistakes in the transfer market- yes of course they have. They were always going to decline once Xaxi and Iniesta finished. The situation at Barca is not to dissimilar to the one we have gone through since SAF left. I think Barca should go back to basics and focus on bringing through the youth. They may suffer for a few seasons but in the longterm it will be beneficial

Im not saying they havent made mistakes, and a lot of them. They have, the situation is not too far away from ours. Look at the crap we bought Di Maria, Falcoa, Sanchez, BFS, Depay, Schneiderlien. They need a complete restructure, similar to what we are doing now. Bring the youth through and make 2-3 signings per year

I'm just clarifying what Sid Lowe meant, he said after the Suarez window they didn't have a clear cut success transfer.

Yeah, both clubs are managed terribly.

Messi is on €1.3m per week, Griezmann €850k per week, Suarez €450k per week, De Jong €300k per week, Busquets €300k per week, Coutinho, Rakitic, Pique, Dembele and Umtiti are on €250k per week each, Roberto €200k per week, Vidal €180k per week, Alba and Ter Stegen €165k per week... And most of them still have multiple years left in their contract!

Their wage bill is out of control, and their financials are dire. Their next board even if Bartomeu loses the election has a hell lot to deal with.
Da feck?

Crazy to think Paulinho would be considered one of the more successful signings
