So we've seen Utd have targeted multifunctional midfielders who can play 6 and 8. Plus very good passers of the ball, with line breaking ability. £50mil or less. Also with PL experience, though that's not always a given.

Based on this, predict signing number three for central midfield.

Definitely a runner is needed now. So Baleba, Nmecha or Scott. Don’t really believe any of these Kone links.
 
Baleba. Physicality and ball winning is needed, we haven't replaced Casemiro's elite traits yet.

I don’t think we’ll be signing anyone else in midfield or any ‘big’ money signing. My expectation is that Tielemans was bought as a starter, and Mainoo and Santos to rotate with themselves.

The last spot for cover probably goes to an academy player or something but won’t be a big money signing.
 
Both signed players strengths are --"Composed under pressure and press-resistant, good at breaking lines with vertical passes" which we really need so the front 4 can take care of the rest.

Out of these 3(Baleba, Kone or Scott), Not sure who can bring the best out of Tielemans and Bruno
 
Someone with release clause maybe? joking aside, we should aiming player in baleba mould to completed the puzzling block
 
Carrick played in a midfield that didn't have an enforcer, so maybe that's not the direction he will want to go.
 
Given that Ineos seem hellbent on paying tribute to the midfield overhaul of 2015 with Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger I expect it to be somebody cheap or surplus to requirements elsewhere, or both if our business this summer is any indication.
 
No idea but not convinced it will be any of the suspects mentioned so far. Maybe a bid for Hinshelwood or something. Maybe noone if we can't get the player we want.

I think Nmecha is off the table with Dortmund asking for 100M+

I would like Kone but with Liverpool pushing for him now I just don't think we are making a move, I am concerned that it is going to be Gomes but I am more inclined to think we end up coming to some sort of compromise around Baleba in the belief Carrick can coach him out of last seasons slump and the upside is huge if he can.
 
Based on the Santos and Tielemans signings it might as well be another less talked about player that we’ve not been linked to much or at all in recent times.
Maybe someone like Nico Gonzalez from Atletico Madrid and Argentina?

What was Fletcher if not an enforcer? Not every game but in a lot of the big games that was his role. Wasn't it?
 
Well it won't be Alex Scott. If we wouldn't fork out £80m plus for Fernandes then we won't spend that on Scott either. Maybe Baleba late in the window if we can get the price down.

Or, maybe we are really struggling and think we can get away with an academy product for the other midfield spot.
 
Have we learnt nothing? We don't know who they will sign. Here we thinking Baleba or Kone and they go ahead and sign Bruno G or Camavinga
