This kind of shows why I was getting annoyed at people saying he doesn’t make runs. Amorim was definitely asking him to drop in and be the focal point. He did the same thing to Hojlund last season.

Yep, Bruno will always try to find you if you make the right movement at the right time.

Admittedly I was cursing him in the first half. It was a dire performance from him until that header he had near the end of the half. I think it was that chance which seemed to spark something in him. Fair play and the 2 goals were well taken. Hope he pushes on as he was looking bloody awful

Bruno just loves helping his ST score goals. He had the same relationship with Martial. Proper playmaker and team player he is

We will need to go back into the market for a 10 when Bruno leaves. Cunha doesn’t begin to touch this level of playmaking in form, function or intent.

I’m glad fans love the “runs” but we need someone that can pick a variety of passes from that position.

100% this. Even Mount was a considerable downgrade once Bruno went off. Cunha is just spastic and reckless in possession. In fact i would go on to say that just after we scored the 2nd goal against Burnley, Cunha, Casemiro and Lammens were mostly to blame for conceding the goal. The first two kept giving the ball away without pressure and poor touches, whereas Lammens just punted it up field without even trying to play defenders or build out from the back, resulting in us losing possession for no reason, when what we needed was to calm it down and keep the ball and try to get another goal to kill the game off.

Coming back to Sesko, was really pissed at him during first half, I felt he missed very good chances and was responsible for half time deficit, but fair play to him, he really turned it around in the second half, hopefully it gives him confidence to keep up the scoring, we badly need our striker to do well for the rest of the season.

What

Do you disagree that is clumsy or awkward on the ball, always feels like his touch is heavy and about to lose the ball and going down?
Just a stupid word to use no matter what you think of his touch. And no, I don’t feel like his touch is particularly bad, and he retains the ball really well when dribbling.

Love the effort and motor.

I’m going to get a bad rep constantly calling out Cunha but I see so many red flags.

Watch all the players that bust a gut to get in the box or support the play. Then watch Cunha

His fitness levels are improving. Great run that.

It depends on the set up long term. If most of the players fit 4-3-3 more than 4231, we need a midfielder and a wide play maker than a no 10.

There are many teams better defensively than Burnley. Even if Sesko makes good run, it doesn’t mean Bruno can still pick him after stopping the ball. A no 10 that can dribbling to unlock opposition defense while matching Bruno ability is rarer nowadays. Unless you already have that player in the team, you should build the team with just hope you can find that player at will.

Sure I saw something about KDB telling Hojlund not to drop deep because he will find him with a pass if he makes a forward run. Seems like old habits of previous tactics need breaking whether you are still at this club or not

Cunha is just spastic and reckless in possession.

Not sure if you're aware but that word is short for spasticity, which specifically refers to the involuntary spasms made by people who've had a stroke, have cerebral palsy, MS or some other types of neural disability.

To be fair its easy to be convinced that there is some involuntary shit going on otherwise why would a player keep running into so many cul-de-sacs and losing the ball by choice

Really good video, it's sort of stuff you miss when watching the match live. Hopefully Sesko starts trusting Bruno more and makes these runs every time Bruno has space. There is no better player in the world in these situations than Bruno, will be interesting to see the partnership grow.

I also think Sesko dropping deep so often was partly due to instructions to allow Mbeumo to make the final runs. Maybe Amorim wanted Mbeumo to be the guy at the end of these balls.

I really don't know what's going on with Cunha. I guess some players just take a while to settle in. I think he'll l get there. I thought he'd settle the quickest out of our summer signings with all the talent he has.

He looked like a striker second half. He didn't first half. Made two excellent runs to get his goals, and note that both came from players playing on their strong foot side. Fernandes with a ball down the channel, Dorgu with a cross from wide swinging out. Before this, he's usually had 2 WBs and 2 #10s playing on the inverted side that would cut inside for themselves instead of putting a ball over for him.

Perhaps Saint Darren has unlocked that. Two goals and eight shots can't just be coincidence, can it?
Maybe Mbeumo playing on the left will be an option. Hes the best crosser of the ball we have besides Bruno. Maybe him crossing on his stronger foot will be an asset in certain games

Saw a stat that last season, Hojlund had 13 shots on target in the whole season, while Sesko had 7 just from Wednesday. He also has more shots this season than Hojlund did in all of last season, and the same amount as Hojlund had in is whole first season. More of a stat to rip on Hojlund, but still .. nice to have a CF who isn't afraid of having a pop

I’ve seen some clips of the goals he’d scored at his previous club, they really were special. Strong shot, good movement on and off the ball. Even the 2 goals scored against Burnley were special. One showed his good runs when he can be spotted and the other was a fantastic cool touch to guide the ball to the goal.

Aggression is what is missing the most in his game. Berbatov is spot on there. I think it’s quite clear he needs to show more emotions and speak a little more (just a little); better communication will surely help.

He had a bad game but personally I think he’s been great overall. He’s been in a team with no back up last few weeks as far as creativity goes and expected to do it all. Not easy

I’m lowkey tempted to put sesko in my FPL because of the formation change and Bruno playing more up top to feed in more of those balls

The amount of grief this guy got compared to the likes of Wirtz, Isaac (prior to his injury) and Gyokeres is ridiculous.

Great videos of Bruno showing him what to do… Bruno is on another level in that 10 spot, and it’s good to have him back there rather than as a 6 or whatever he was asked to play under Amorim.

Saw a stat that Højlund has 14 goals for club and country while Sesko has 4 this season. Højlund had a shit second season, but Benjamin has still got miles to go to compare to Rasmus` first season with 16 goals in all competitions.

I like Sesko, and he should get more time to find his feet. He was great against Burnley and he has got more stick than he deserved in the Caf. He has´nt been great though, and he needs to score more regularly or he will soon get roasted by the fans again.

Unless I'm mistaken, Cunha had made himself a tonne of space by the end of the clip, looked like a good position to me?

Not convinced he was.

He had two great finishes, sure, but his first touch and hold up play in the first half were absolutely dreadful - very surprised he was awarded Player of the Week

Hopefully he'll grow in confidence after those goals and turn into a beast

Hojlund - 62 goals in 204 games, 13 in 31 for country
Sesko - 94 goals in 228 games for clubs, 16 in 45 for country

Wow! What is the point? Sesko has scored more goals overall in his career. That is no secret. It is also no secret that he played in a functioning team at Leipzig who created chances for their strikers as opposed to us in the last two miserable years. My point is that there is no need to be shitting on former strikers because Sesko finally hit the goal. Especially when said striker are outscoring Sesko 14-4 so far this season.

...but if you want to look at first seasons statistics for both players at United, Rasmus had a 159 minutes per goal ratio in the PL. Seskos is at 260 minutes per goal as of right now.

That said I really hope that Ben gets going under a new coach. It is great for any number 9 to get rid of the Amorim system that has suffocated both Rasmus and Benjamin. I have no interest in putting Sesko down. On the contrary. I have been advocating for him to get more time to get going as he is a great talent.

How can he compete with goal tally in “all competitions” when he isn’t playing in “all competitions”?
