When asked about the goal by the Norwegian journalist, Fjørtoft if anyone remembers him, Sesko said he always knew he would best the defender to the ball. I think he wasn’t even going at full pelt. He’s seriously rapid once gets into his stride.

Also, he came off as very humble.
 
Definitely needs to start on Sunday against a Palace side that have lost their best CB and will have had only 2 days rest before playing us
 
It's getting silly that he isn't starting. While he's obviously deadly off the bench, we could save ourselves the trouble of huffing and puffing for 60 odd minutes before he comes on and we look much more threatening, by starting him and looking threatening from the start.

This and If i might add we need to start putting some deliveries into the box against these low blocks with him on the pitch instead of trying to play through a crowded midfield.
He has a massive height advantage and surely would give defenders some cause for concern.

I've found we tend to ignore this route when the opportunity presents itself instead passing the ball back around from wide areas, which is highly frustrating and you just need to look at the West Ham game where he got on the end of one of these crosses.

We need to play to his strengths.

Mate, it's all great. That awesome pass to kickstart the move, Mbuemo's part to deliver the right ball at the right time, and then the run + finish from Sesko. It's so good. Actual quality football. Premium.
 
I believe that Højlund would get to that ball aswell.

But I don't think he would score as comfortably as Sesko did. You get the feeling that Sesko would score that 10/10 times - Højlund probably 6/10, and that is a huge difference.

This signing might actually work out.

Against the top teams Mbeumo made sense, but not against anyone else...Carrick needs to show a bit more with his team selections.

If United are going to have more than 50% of the ball then Sesko needs to be given a chance.

Mbeumo and Amad can fight over the RW spot.
 
Good goal, loved it for him and you can see he’s starting to be confident, which is great for us.

Not sure exactly that he needs to start games though as I think his being fresher than the defending players has been a huge advantage on this good run so far, but I guess we’ll see what happens when he does start a few games.

To be fair, some of the finishes like against Fulham and West Ham had nothing to do with being fresh. He’s always going to be faster than Tarkowski in a race.
 
Should have had two.

Really has an innate aversion to the scruffyness certain situations require.

hopefully it'll get better with age.

Really hope it continues. It would be nice to go into next season knowing we have a clear, first choice CF we're happy with.
 
Benjamin Sesko, the scorer of the match winner. All complaints about whatever else can take back seat for another day.
 
His pace for his size is pretty remarkable, Tarkowski stood absolutely no chance on that goal

 
We make him drop back too much. Just leave him up front like City do with Haaland, and we wouldn't be under anywhere near as much pressure and he'll kill the game off
 
Thought it since day one; he has massive potential. Technically he is as good as any striker. Add his size and speed and he can become a formidable forward.
 
Reached 36.96km/h according to ESPN's post-match coverage - which would put him at the 5th fastest speed recorded in the PL since 2020.

Looking back at it again, it doesn't even look like he's quite going full tilt. Might have a tiny bit more in the locker. He went through the gears so smooth.

Pace and leap for his size are nearly unheard of.

The rest of his game, his technique and especially his movement as a lone #9, for me the jury is very much out, but he's clearly special as an athlete, and he'll probably get a little stronger in the next few years.

Good sign that he likes to track back, that sort of hunger in the opposing box will be big for him, he's such a great target. Nice little back heel to ignite a counter attack.

Useful against high lines due to his speed over long distances (nothing special over short distance so far) and ability to win flick ons, and deep lines due to his height and sheer size as a target and occupier of CBs. Our other recent strikers mostly haven't been nearly as tactically versatile a piece.

Same. Very Ronaldo-esque
 
He's one of those players with average acceleration but very high top speed when he gets into it, that long stride is menacing and made Tarkowski look like a tractor but Maguire would probably be similar over that distance
 
Strangely that goal reminded me of Berbatov. Sesko started the move near our box and then completed it at the other end.

Yeah wonderful goal. From the outrageous pass by Cunha, over the calm and collected hold up and pass by Mbuemo to the absolute speeddemon and ice cold finish by Benji. Wonderful
 
Sesko played 1048 mins under Amorim, scored 2 goals.
Played 98 mins under Carrick, scored 3 goals
Played 180 mins under Fletcher, scored 3 goals.

Non Amorim mins - 278 mins, 6 goals. 46 mins per goal.

That's a great record, for sure not sustainable, skewed by sub appearances but its great to see CFs getting lot of chances again.
 
He has the technique, the physical tools and the right temperament. Barring horrific luck with injuries I think we got ourselves a good one.
 
Still haven’t changed my assessment since he was in Germany. He isn’t going to be world-class, and I think he will fall short when we start playing knockout Champions League games again, but he certainly has what it takes to be a reliable Premier League-level player. You need a durable striker to get goals against obdurate teams like Everton, Fulham, or West Ham, and I think he can be that guy for the next couple of seasons.

His overall game still needs developing, so he’s not a guaranteed starter yet. I think he’s earned a start next match, personally (we should be rewarding good performances), but I think he’ll be in and out of the starting line-up all season.
 
The only real reason not to start him would be that he is significantly worse at pressing than whoever he would replace. Still lacks some intensity in that. But beyond that, there are major upsides. Hope he gets the nod vs. Palace.

Regarding his finishing, he still doesn’t seem natural when he is alone with the keeper and has to take one or two touches. Mostly his goals come from situations where he can finish first time, which he does really well. His miss towards the end of the game gets a pass, but it really was not dissimilar to the one vs. Spurs. Hope he can improve on that.

Yep, I agree and also pointed that out a couple of games before. He looks completely detached from pressing formation, his moves look random and there's no intensity in it. Is it by design? I don't think so, but he is actually rapid so he could put some pressure on GK at least.

That said, he did win the ball middle of the park 2-3 times yesterday so not sure if this is valid criticism.
