Imo he presses better than Cunha and certainly at more speed so I've never got the criticism. Mbeumo and Amad are better at it yeah but not all our attackers are.

It's funny how his finishing is so much better when he doesn't have time to think and just rely on instinct. The 2nd chance he got should've been buried, but he just over thought it.

He's an extremely rounded talent, all the physical tools and still got a nice touch, able to link and good ball striking
Out of possession needs work and sometimes isn't as proactive as you like but a lot to work with. Has all the potential if he puts it altogether

Mbeumo had a goal every 170.85 mins last season and that includes his 5 penalties. Non penalty goals it would be a goal every 227 mins

He’s class and I rate him, still has the brain farts of a 22 year old that’s been playing in a shite league. His decision making and off the ball work will only improve in time, then we’ve got a superstar

I did mention earlier in the thread that he has all the attributes to be an Elite Striker, he’s quick, strong two footed and technically very good. He’s just 22 so imagine him in a couple of years with wingers that cross the ball and a number 10 that can see his clever runs, we’ve only seen glimpses so far of his potential.
I dunno. He's not a high energy player, and sometimes he completely lacks awareness when defending. There was one instance where he was deep within his own half, the ball bounced towards him, but he looked as if he had no idea what just happened, and it took a second before he reacted - then he did well.
Not sure I think his pressing is good - Cunha works his socks off without the ball, which has really impressed me as I didn't think he was that kind of player.

That said, his lack of intensity in pressing is a bit of an issue. Thought there were two clear instances where his lack of conviction in pressing showed, and caused problems. First was a high clearance just outside our box, on Everton's right wing. The looped ball was Sesko's to claim, but he bumbled towards it in lackadaisical fashion, and instead Gueye got there first and it resulted in a corner. Second was Michael Keane's shot. Upon first watch (might be wrong, haven't watched it again) that if Sesko had been just slightly more aggressive, Keane wouldn't have gotten the space to fire off that shot as comfortably as he did.
Small things that can make a difference in the results column. And maybe I'm talking out of my ass, but these were two situations where I felt it really showed after he came on yesterday. Hopefully he can watch some clips of Osimhen and understand what a difference intensity in his pressing game can make.

Great run and finish, was delighted to see him leave Tarkowski in the mud, didn't even give that prick a chance to get near him to haul him down, which he probably would have got away with too.

Working would be him coming on to add to the goals and lead that our starting forwards have created for us. Needing him to come on so we can get any points from a game is not optimal situation at all.

His pace is ridiculous
It simply makes no sense to bench the lad for players who aren't performing themselves. We shouldn't tolerate wasting 60 minutes each game.

He’s definitely lacking, defensively, compared to the other three. Times his press badly and generally lacks intensity when we’re not on the ball. Not the end of the world though. He’s still a work in progress. Really exciting to see his potential as a goalscorer. Could go on to become properly world class.
I know we’ve been out of the competition for a while but the champions league knockouts aren’t scary these days. Sesko scored four goals in last years competition, against sporting, Atletico and Juve. All of whom are in the knockouts currently. He also scored twice against Bayern in the league last year.
I’m not sure Amad, Mbeumo and Cunha have four career champions league goals between them all, so there’s just as many question marks against them at the top level.
It's such a bizzare take. Comparing a young and inexperienced striker to an experienced guy who is playing for the best team in his prime.
Anyone with a footballing brain can see Sesko has so much more to his game than Gyokeres, and he has scored 5 in 6 now, 7 goals in the PL in total and when you look at the profile of goals scored they are all very different finishes which just proves the point that Sesko is a guy with a hell of a lot to his game and there's a lot more to come from him.

Yeah its quite clear Sesko is still very raw. His pressing is not that great but more importantly his all round play can't currently be relied on. He just has to keep developing his all round game and if he does he'll develop into a good player. Still should be on the bench for me.
Same, I was guilty of writing him off a bit too early as well. Happy to be proven wrong.
I think now he's confident he is really dangerous. The players are learning more about him as well and how he likes the ball supplied.

His hold up/link up play is inconsistent. But he has some lovely touches like that one that set up the counter when Cunha fell over fresh air.

It's about time he starts a game. And then we should at least once in a while try to find him with some crosses. Against Fulham we did it seconds after he came on, and he hit the post. Let's just have that as part of our attacking threat.

Looking back at it again, it doesn't even look like he's quite going full tilt. Might have a tiny bit more in the locker. He went through the gears so smooth.
He can be better at pressing but it's understandable. He's a fecking unit. Hope he improves that area as well as his holdup play.
A brilliant run and finish...just a pure striker's goal. Not a perfectly rounded player but still VERY early in his all round development and he is doing the most important thing. Pleased to see him net the winner, long may it continue.
I agree that he is still inconsistent, especially his first touch, which can be extremely smooth or haywire inside the same minute. However, with inconsistent playtime like this, it must be extremely difficult to instantly deliver on every aspect of the game for the 15 minutes he's called upon at the end of each match.

We are more threatening overall as well with him on the pitch in my opinion. At least in these kind of games against compact teams with high work rate where our forwards can't run in behind.

Won us a that point at Burnley with his 2 goals, won us 3 points vs Fulham, point at West Ham, 3 points at Everton last night.. Great start to the year and hopefully more to come.

His last two goals have been really impressive. At West Ham it was goal out of nothing to save a game, exceptional ability to steer that shot. At Everton it's a brilliant instinctive run from defence and first touch finish. He's showing lots more power and determination.

About the Sesko situation… don’t think they’re not starting him because they don’t rate him. Carrick is managing this super, super, super smartly. He’s building him up for the long term.
They’re not going to ruin him like they did with Hojlund, who wasn’t managed properly at all. Step by step, they’re giving him confidence and making him believe in himself and showing everyone that he’s worthy of being the No. 9 for this club.

I appreciate him a lot but I think it's best if comes off the bench for now, we need him hungry and ready to score when he comes on.
There are aspects to his game that require significant improvement, that 1v1 chance showed how his decision making is lacking at times if he has to think about it, the finish though for his goal was sublime, opened up his body perfectly and slotted it in very well.

You can tell he's up to speed now (excuse the pun). The way he took that finish showed he's full of confidence.
