Then how come Casemiro gets on several each game. Sesko is better of the bench. His hold up play isn’t good enough to be a starter for us yet.
Several times our wingers and full backs refused to cross the ball. Just Case got on one doesn't change the fact that we should be using his strength.

His holdup play, while not as bad as Hojlund, needs work. But he should continue starting, better than Amad at this point. I've been waiting for Mbeumo to whip some crosses into him for the entire season. It almost worked tonight, we need to keep trying.

Didn't play well, but it's generally a good sign when you see your CF getting chances even when not playing well.

Yeah, agreed. He was miles off it and came extremely close to scoring a brace. He has a knack of sniffing out chances. Which is invaluable and the exact opposite of the player he replaced. All round game needs a hell of a lot of work though.

I see it’s gone down hill quick for the lad on here after a great run of form.

When the whole team was as bad as that for 70mins CF has to the hardest position to get yourself into the game.

He should have done better with his chances and scored one but some comments are very harsh.

Because its Bruno crossing. He has set up his last 6 goals I think

One of the reasons why Casemiro has a better chance of getting a header is because we have a 6'5 striker in the middle that needs attention from the defending team. Casemiro is able to pull to the back post, while a striker will generally want to be in the middle trying to get on the end of a cross. Because Sesko is a threat, Casemiro is a bit more free and hes our best at making use of it.

Baby and bathwater. He looks like he might be a cracking player, tonight doesn't change that. It only underlines how we need more real options alongside him. Raúl Jiménez on a free is a no-brainer.

There really is a dearth of talented forward players out there. Mbappe, Haaland, Alvarez.. aaaand that's it.

Not that I disagree but Sesko has more league goals for United this season than Alvarez has for Atletico

Go into every player thread and we need to get rid of every player bar Bruno.

He’s done great this season, 3rd or 4th highest goals per minute I think in the PL but he’s useless apparently.

We should and we tried several times but he didn’t get on the end of it. That having been said he has been better than Amad and Mbuemo and Cunha seem to be our best wingers, so for that reason alone he probably should continue to start. Still maintain his basic playing skills need work. Especially the hold up play.

This is close to what people said about Højlund and McT, when in reality Mc T was just better at sniffing out the positions to be in. Maybe Case is just better at being in the right spot, and Sesko should learn from him. Him and Maguire really.

I’m torn on him. He’s poor when back to goal but dangerous when running onto the ball or attacking crosses in the box. Problem is our players, bar Bruno and maybe Dalot, seem really resistant to putting balls into the box.

It's a shame but in my opinion I don't think he's the answer.
He's another athlete that happens to be a football player, as opposed to a football player that happens to be athletic.
I would be so happy to be proven wrong though.

What? Hojlund scored 1 header for us in a post season game. Thats it. Nobody suggested that other players are getting headers because hes being marked. You're more likely to find posts complaining that he doesnt have to be marked in the air

Another factor is Maguire was not playing. You tell me then, you're the opposition manager, we have Mbeumo up front isntead of Sesko - why is Casemiro winning a header? We have nobody else to be concerned with. They could put 2 players on Casemiro and be fine. But because Sesko is a threat in the air as well, Casemiro has more space at the back post

He’s the stereotype of a striker who is good when playing off instinct - but when he has time to think and decide what he’s going to do, he balls it up 9/10 times.

Watch the game again, there were several good crosses that he simply wasn’t ready for. The talent is clearly there but he is not the finished article yet.

He was poor tonight but the point remains, he IS a focal point and occupies defenders (both mentally and physically). Was still close to scoring a goal, and if some players were more switched on they could get at the end of things that Sesko couldn't reach.

Because of how compact Leeds were, we could barely get enough space and time to get a proper cross in.

I can't decide if he's good or bad back to goal. Was dispossessed easily a few times but also played a few good balls and won some headers. So I'd lean towards decent.

Weghorst levels with the ball at times today, but I felt it was right to keep him on.

Feels like he always has a goal in him and obviously came close today.

I think he is very good at the quick one-two passing and moving. But holding up the ball or running at defenders he is really not good. Yet.

There was 1 to him from Mbeumo. The rest were not good

I see people mentioning Weghorst. They must not have watched because when he was playing he was charging around in midfield trying to win the ball and never in a goalscoring position up front. Sesko is the opposite. He's always getting into a few goalscoring positions, never charging around midfield as a ball winner but sometimes he doesnt finish his chances.

Sounds about right. He is easily put off balance. He could use some shithousery coaching from DCL.

Found some great form around Amorim's sacking, seems to have lost it but we are also playing terribly recently.

There wasn't. Plus, anytime one of our wingers or fullbacks got into a crossing position they failed to even attempt one. Infuriating is the least I can say.

Pretty much this. Last couple of games he’s started we don’t seem to put it in early, we pass it back from the wingers to the full back, wait for the defence to reset then cut inside.

Leeds showed tonight what happens when you get a cross in, early, when you have a good arial threat.

He will get benched next week and we will start crossing it again.

Sometimes I watch him play and think he just lacks a strikers instinct at times. He’s probably a scorer of great goals but not a great goal scorer. Today you could visibly see Bruno get frustrated with him for not making the runs a natural goal scorer does.

There’s was sequence of play in the first half where we broke with Amad. Amad cut in off the right and hit shot low to the keepers right. If you watch the sequence of play, Sesko is beside him and doesn’t make any effort to burst into the box so Amad could play an easy through ball, where he would have been through in goal, so ends up taking the shop.

Yeah, he reminds me of a less agile Darwin Nunez, which isn't ideal for a starting striker...which is probably why he doesn't start much. A lot of money for a bench option.

I don't even know what he was doing for that chance on 16 minutes.
A quality striker would have dragged the ball away from the defender onto his left foot and shot at target with no chance of the defender making a challenge.
It looked like he didn't fancy taking it on his left so he brought it back inside onto his right into the defender and fluffed the shot.

I would say Nunez has better off the ball movement than Sesko. Nunez's issue is, and it's a major one, his composure in front of goal is hilariously erratic.

Backup striker level, there is a reaspn why we've chosen to play a right winger up top instead of him.
He abslutely should be benched for the next season until he ups his fitness levels, his touch is poor at times, very averag hold up play. yes he nicked some goals but he's quite poor in the interplay and very bad at pressing. But a young player can be given some leeway. But a new manager can work wonders for him.

You say nicked some goals but a lot of them were very high quality for a new young striker in the Premier League.

My concern with this transfer was his penchant for pulling off the audacious, highlight reel-worthy stuff while having a tendency to cock up basic things you expect from a CF, hence RBL playing him in the hole quite often. He’s very talented but sometimes you simply need a striker to be instinctual and head a ball down or slide it past the keeper 1v1 and he just doesn’t do those things with any consistency.

If he can't press properly then he should just go and stand directly on top of one of the centre backs to at least make it a bit easier for those who can press

Wasn’t great tonight, like most of the team. We do need more from him but you can see he’s desperate to do well. Maybe forces it a bit too much when he starts games.

I don't even know what he was doing for that chance on 16 minutes.

Did you not watch it? He was trying to set hismelf for an instep shot, but the defender pinched in reading it and the defender's contact made Sesko's shot extremely weak. He probably should have tried to shift the ball more and not make it so obvious he was looking to bend one. But it was pretty obvious what he was trying to do, its the same thing Rooney used to do
