early days, we need to give him time to adapt. The one thing though I've noticed so far, he's not particularly keen in getting stuck in. Maybe it's his size, we expect him to be a physical beast but he's definitely held back when he could have went in and challenged. Maybe it's getting up to speed with play, maybe he's still a yard of and feels he'll be too late if he commits. The card he got v Brighton, I didn't like. The defender challenging him for the ball in the air, had his eyes focused on the ball, whereas Sesko only had eyes for the defender and made a cheap foul on him. He made no attempt to win a ball that was there to be won, was happy to concede the foul. Be interesting how that aspect of his game develops in coming weeks, PL not a league for players perceived to not fancy a challenge. Could possibly be facing Romero at weekend, who'll not hold back re the physical part of the game.

Neither Sesko, Isak, Gyokeres nor Woltemade have impressed so fare, but it’s to early to judge.

Worth noting that Woltemade has went to a small club in the North East so has ridiculously less pressure to deal with than Gyokeres and Sesko.

Man United fans are the least demanding in the world though, all he has to do is flick on some headers and enable Cunha and Mbeumo to score.. as if they need Sesko to do that.

He'll get backing from the fans, but the level of scrutiny isn't anywhere near the same in the media etc. also worth Noting he's Scored more than Cunha this season. So feel like your attitude is a bit harsh.

Garnacho has also scored more than Cunha.

Sesko outscored and outplayed Woltemade in the last two Bundesliga campaigns, just because he's had a decent start at Newcastle I refuse to believe he's all of a sudden a better player putting pressure on Sesko. He'll come good

Has Woltemade actually been that good? I’ve watched him a few times and a bit like Sesko he struggles to get involved.

He needs to bully defenders, throw his weight around and show some personality is my only issue. He needs to become a physical presence that will be a nightmare for defenders.

Woltemade only became a thing the last 6 months in Germany. From there on, he's been much better than Sesko.

Still, it's a really short time, so nothing to interpret too much into

Last 5 games;
Goal, goal, came as sub, assist, bad game.

Perfect example how much power pundits have these days. Shame that only Marinakis had balls to hit back to them. Hero, not villain. :)

Sesko is understood to be spending huge amounts of time at United's Carrington training ground as he gets an understanding of the performance levels he is delivering compared to those he is required to meet.

He often arrives more than 90 minutes earlier than the normal meeting time of 09:45 and does not leave until 16:00, long after most of his team-mates.

United sources remain confident they made the right decision to sign Sesko, while at the same time sending Rasmus Hojlund on loan to Napoli, even though the Dane has scored four times in nine appearances for the Italian champions.

"Ben is a young kid, a control freak," said Amorim.

"He wants to control everything - and he's not going to control everything.

"He has more potential than I was thinking [but] we need to understand how he likes to play and also to put in our ideas.

"I'm quite relaxed with that. He is going to be our striker for the long term but he's going to have these struggles and these bumps during the ride. That is a normal thing in football."

From a BBC article.

Sesko is apparenty working extraordinarily hard in training. I guess that's a good thing? There's always an argument that you want your strikers to be relaxed not neurotic but I feel we hear a lot about players being calm about things not going well for them and usually what comes after is things continue not going well for them. So I say good on him and lets just cross our fingers the goals come before he has a nervous breakdown in the centre circle.

Moaner-in-chief Neville in particular. Only way he can stay relevant.

Amorim is taking the right approach by telling Sesko that he should expect to hear such moaning from club legends. Focus on his game, ignore the self-serving crap.

Amorim has stated in comments released tonight that what Neville said about Sesko is fact that he is currently is struggling , is he trying to stay relevant as well?

Neville has a job to do to analyse things as they are , he can't act be like a deluded fan and stick his head om the sand on matters when it comes to Utd.

If you think that's what Amorim was doing by saying that, I don't know what to tell ya.

It's difficult to say now because quite a few of the players you mentioned are pretty aggressive, and combative and Sesko isn't.
Disagree, he looks very strong on the ball and good with his back to goal. I'm not sure how much more aggressive and combative you want him to be

Plus they’re comparing a 22 year old in his first season in the premier league to seasoned veterans. How physical would a 22 year old Mandzukic have been right now, not sure because he was playing in the HNL at that age. That said, I do understand that we’ve paid a lot of money and so he will be judged in line with this.

But you’re right, I think that’s generally a good part of his game. I’m not sure what people are wanting from him. We know long ball football is low percentage, this isn’t 2010-2020 style Pep football, there will be lower pass completion and ball retention when playing direct.

It’s hard to say how high his ceiling is at the moment, but his physical and technical ability means his floor is higher than Hojlund’s.

He’s going to need time to develop and get used to the pace and physicality of the league, but the extra training work is encouraging; what so many great players have done. The most important thing for him at the moment is to keep scoring the odd goal here and there. If he does a Hojlund and has a long barren patch, the knives will be out for him. Personally, I think given our lack of games, if he can hit double figures this season, that’s a success.

That's not a show of aggression at all. He needs to fight for balls, if he isn't favoured to get the ball he never pushes through or really fights for it, and he doesn't push past defenders to make a run.

The Woltemade comparison is ridiculous. Newcastle play to his strength by throwing crosses into the box. Couldn’t tell you the last time I saw a targeted cross to Sesko’s head. Maybe we should try and cross the ball.

The BBC have an article on Sesko and his start to the season. I know he’s cost a lot of money but where is the same pressure on Gyokeres, Joao Pedro and Isak? Media put so much pressure on United players to perform instantly.

I didn’t want Sesko as I didn’t think he would be good enough for the price tag. He’s young, come to a new country and new league. Came in late in pre-season as well. I don’t think he’s been that bad. He has the same issue as Hojlund and it’s no coincidence the same position is struggling to score goals. Perhaps we should sort out our midfield.

His only issue so far has been putting chances away. He is getting into the right areas to score and coming deeper to create for others (who may even be better finishers).

He is in the areas of the pitch where he needs to be.

He really is not, and its why he gets so few chances. He doesn't break away from his defenders enough.

Why couldn't we have just bought somebody with a bit of speed and and skill to run off the shoulder. We keep going for these big lumps who require the team to play a very specific way.

Was expecting him to be benched, albeit in favour of Mount.

We have limited games, a lot of attackers, and we've already seen in games like the one versus Liverpool that big games in particular can see specific approaches.

Expect it to be horses for courses all season.

To be fair Sesko had a decent game against Brighton. He missed a chance but was involved in the build up, won a lot of duels and had a very nice assist for Mbuemo goal.

Neville criticizing him after that game was a low blow. You can see how it can shake the confidence of a young striker coming into the league.
Gary is a legend of the club and no doubt as big if not bigger fan of it outside the pitch than most people here, but his moronic views and random rants are doing more harm than good at this point.
