Benjamin Šeško | 2026/27 Performances

Are we absolutely sure that we as a fanbase are not collectively panicking enough about this Sesko injury stuff?

Maybe just a notch or two more panic?
Should we panic about this more than how hench he looks now? Hard to know these days

Benji still looks lean even with the extra muscle, definitely not like Big Rom who became quite brolic at one point

Based on these pics (which I'm guessing exaggerate the change) it looks much more like Ronaldo's bulk-up than Lukaku's. Lukaku was a relatively heavy-set guy for a footballer who randomly bulked up even more. Sesko, like Ronaldo, was quite a slim guy with a good frame who has now filled out that frame. Sesko certainly hasn't gone as far as Ronaldo did obviously, and he probably shouldn't try to.
Yeah Ronaldo was horrible after his bulk up

This is nothing like the Lukaku situation. He is lean and looks fantastic and its not like he suddenly is buffed like Traore or something.

I'm pretty concerned about him still being injured. No real signs of us signing another striker at this stage. We shouldn't be relying on playing Mbeumo up front again or maybe Cunha/Rashford in a pinch imo. Was hoping Sesko would benefit from missing the World Cup and go into the season super fit and prepared from the pre-season.

This worked so well when Lukaku did it...

Whatever the case - I really hope he's done that on the advice of the United management team rather than just because he wanted to get ripped, because that is some change from the player we signed.

Lukaku is a very different build to him, not the same situation at all I don't think. He also allegedly had some sort of medical condition that was related to the weight gain if I remember rightly.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing that Sesko is building muscle. He had a bit of a willowy look to him last season. Lukaku built muscle too but I don’t think a player like him really needed to build that much muscle because he was naturally bulky anyway.

On the contrary, Ronaldo was a beanpole in his first two years here then come 2006, he built up some noticeable muscle especially when he took his shirt off in the League Cup final after scoring against Wigan, and the rest is history etc

He's got great speed once he gets going. If that bulk impacts his speed and agility then I'm going to be so mad. We already lack pace across the team.

Looks mostly like his traps, shoulders and upper chest - thats going to help with hold up an strength. I dont see anything effecting his movement.

Yeah will be huge benefit if it improves his holdup play

The muscle gain should be fine …just don’t do the Lukaku thing where he looked like a rugby player and was knackered after twenty minutes running. THAT amount of muscle gain was just ridiculous.

Thinking about it, classic Premier League strikers like Shearer or Drogba or even Duncan Ferguson were tough as hell but they always seemed to be quite naturally lean and strong rather than looking like they really hit the gym. I wonder how it would have affected their style with more muscle gain?

Sounds like he's only putting it on for preseason

Interested to know what kind of shin injury keeps you out for 3 months (and counting). Feel like he could really benefit from a head of steam in pre season.

Is he still not in the squad? Very annoying - perhaps needs to suck it up

He isn't starting the season in out-field XI, that's for sure, and a major warning sign at this point.

I don't mind him gaining muscle but doubt it's going to help him with being "outmuscled" by defenders. It's mostly balance issue, he clearly isn't used to being pushed off the ball so often. Look at Martial, guy was small and was able to hold on to the ball easily as he had great balance.

Thing is I didn't even feel like he had a strength issue last season, he dealt with defenders just fine with his size and hold up. My main concern with him was when the ball was at his feet, being too indecisive and unselfish rather than having a killers instinct and a clear plan of what to do. He has the ability and the physical attributes already there. Needs to be more aggressive, more confident mentally and needs to stay fit. If he does those 2 things... He'll be brilliant.

I actually do recognize a weakness in this area for Sesko (maybe not so much a weakness - but he has potential to turn this into his strength). But I doubt this has much to do with his upper body muscles, it's more anticipation of contact (for lack of a better phrase?). See Harry Kane, he is elite in anticipating contact, he throws his body and arms in a way he can protect the ball. This is where Sesko is lacking imo. But that should also come with time and experience, so not worried at all. But I certainly remember him easily dispossesed a few times because he was not expecting (or prepared for) a heavy tackle or shoulder to shoulder fight.

How was Martial small? 6 foot and well built even when he arrived as a kid. There's a difference between not being massive and being small.

Fair enough, he wasn't big but he was easily holding of bigger defenders because he had great balance.

He did, a very natural footballer. One thing I would say is it's harder to have great balance when you're 6 foot 5 though, takes a bit of time to grow into your frame sometimes. There are exceptions like Zlatan but even he improved on his physicality and balance with age.

If he kept his pace with that build he will be a force
Yeah, I’d say “it should go without saying”, considering all the professionals and specialists we have around the club wrt nutrition, fitness, bulking, explosive power etc. but then I think about Lukaku and I think (if my vague memory recalls half correctly), he bulked and lost a bit of pace didn’t he? Not saying it’s the same scenario, but sometimes it does leave one wondering why.

I thought this was a fairly minor issue. Now we're celebrating him being 'back on grass'?
Just for clarity, that insta post is from over a week ago. I shared it because it's the same pic as the silly muscles edit.

I thought he was always likely to miss today and be back for PSG game based on reports.

As long as he's actually back next week I'm not too worried.

He's ahead in terms of pre-season preparation compared to Bruno, Cunha, Martinez, Mainoo, Rashford who aren't even training yet.

feck off - surely that’s a hard no for any price. He’s one of the most promising true 9’s in Europe

Edit: Just read the article in full and it says absolutely nothing really, thanks TheMod

Some stupid comments Christian Falk from Bild talking about Bayern and "if Sesko doesnt make his mark in premier league he could come here" when he had the 2nd best goals to mins in the premier league last season. With this summer's transfer inflation they can offer £150 million and see if Sesko has any interest, other than that they can dream on.

Twitter seems to think he is still not in training - any better sources on it?
