Benjamin Šeško | 2026/27 Performances

I’m sure he’ll be fit for the first game of the season. Club probably being extra careful considering how important he will be to our season.

Also, have to say we got him at the right time last year. Can you imagine what he would have cost this summer? There’s such a lack of top quality strikers right now that you can argue that he’s one of the best young strikers in the world easily. He had a better season than people give him credit for; quick, tall, strong. I think he’s going to have a great career at United.

I think he's going to have a great career. We need to be competitive for it to be at united. In a couple of years, if hes performing and we are still just a cl qualifying side not competing for the league pl/cl, he will be off to a top side who are. Most top players aren't going to waste their careers not winning things

At least as good as the 2nd best goals to mins in the league last season?

Cunha with Mbeumo making runs beyond should be fine as our backup option

Maybe but we need a out and out striker option if Seskos injury keeps him sidelined. It’s becoming a real worry

One issue we have with Rashford, Cunha, Mbeumo, Amad, Dorgu + Lacey/Thompson being part of the squad, we realistically have too many wide attackers to give them all games.

I can see a world where they say Rashford, Cunha and Mbeumo have to share striker duties alongside Sesko, on the basis there won't be enough game time in the wide positions for everyone to share.

This won't satisfy a lot of fans as they don't consider Mbeumo/Cunha/Rashford as centre forwards but the truth is, if we did sign a striker, it's probably not going to be an impressive profile at this point and will just end up another body to fill a gap. A body that will have the fans asking "is he actually a better option than Mbeumo/Cunha/Rashford?"

My preference however is still to get rid of Zirkzee and Rashford and sign a striker. But I just have no faith in Rashford leaving now, and it leaves our squad horribly unbalanced with an excess of wide attackers.

Going to Ireland training camp with the squad and hopeful to get minutes against AC Milan per Ty Marshall MEN

Read that as Haland camping. I need glasses
Grest news!

His injury record is the biggest worry for me now. It feels like he's been unavailable 30% of the time for us. Or not fully fit at least.

We have the starting striker for the Brazil national team in the squad.
Although I consider him a fallback scenario, this imo is the biggest reason we never see Dorgu playing left back - as he will be the only LW start of the season.

I wonder if he will even be fit for the first league game.
He will have to be training with the full team at least a week before the first game to be considered as a bench option so I would not be too confident.
Konate should be extradited back to the UK and made to pay for his football brutality!

we’ll always have that purple patch when he scored in like 3 consecutive games. they can’t take that away from us.

How can a player be fit to start the season when the player has not had a pre-season?

Annoying if his injury recovery tips the balance of Rashford and Zirkzee staying. I don't see a good particularly good fit for us on the market though...so maybe a high profile Striker on loan with an option...then Mbuemo/Cunha would be joint 3rd option as ST...possibly Chido Obi if we don't find him a loan as 4th.

Fernández-Pardo would be a great addition in my opinion. Similar type but also capable of playing on the wings. Could share the load with Sesko.

He can no longer have an injury and be ready to play
Really? You clearly conclude that being injury-free means a player is 'fit' to play Premier League football.

Sorry, but I disagree, absolutely.

Pre-season is important for a reason. Why do you think clubs have pre-season training? Club tours, matches.

Sesko has not been involved in pre-season and therefore I think it fanciful that he will be fit in two weeks. And Sesko needs these games, to score goals, miss chances, get sharp.

Basics.

Okay dude. Nobody is making the argument that preseason isn't important. But a healthy player that is available for selection can reasonably be defined as fit. All OP was saying is that he'll probably be there for the start of the season.

Well if he ever becomes good enough to attract interest from the big hitters then the team will also grow with him. We have a good group and they are primed to fulfill their potential soon so if he does the same then we will be competing for the big titles with him.

How far off being fit is he?

Really wanted him firing on all cylinders from the off this season.

Reports of De Ligt training with squad.
Sesko has traveled to Ireland too. Is he still training separately or is he training with the squad too?

We really need a carrick presser

The reports have said that they are targeting minutes against Milan yet every friendly before that he doesn't play people start to panic.

Probably because if he's only back in the squad for the last game of pre season, he isn't going to be starting the first game few games of the season, or will be hopelessly off the pace if he does.

Which maybe wouldn't cause as much concern if we didn't have a load of other players who are also yet to play, or if we actually had decent squad depth.

I mean I also thought Mount came off in the last game as a "precaution" yet apparently can't play or even train since. Although I suppose a precaution by Mount's standards is 2 months out.

Why do so many fans want our players rushed back for games that mean feck all?

I don't think anyone wants to rush him back. The radio silence for months is concerning, particularly when we really only have one viable striker. People want to know if we're playing a winger up top until October. Mystery injury with a long term absence coupled with no clarity over the injury creates nerves.

Personally I'm also still scarred by the De Ligt December "back in a week or two" followed by him dropping off the face of the earth.

I get that but Sesko is in training. De Ligt wasn’t seen anywhere for months.

There was a training session with players who dint play the leeds game, on the day after the game(reported on manutd.com). Sesko was not in that group.

Carrick named late comers due to the world cup and mentioned they will be involved vs Milan. The names he took were kobbie, licha and rashford.

Sesko has clearly been on grass for a while. He also has joined sessions with the squad in Ireland.

I am certain he will not start on sat or vs hull. But, is he on track to be on the bench at least? Getting impossible to get a read on the actual situation.

Btw - mount was not in that training session either.

Looks like he's not in the squad for Milan game. So there's your answer. I would assume he won't be on the bench for Hull game.

Dint know the squad was announced. Honestly, I would have been super worried if I did not see the video of him training with the squad. Now, I am just confused.
Anyway - hope someone asks this in the hull pre match presser and we get some clarity.
