Benjamin Šeško | 2026/27 Performances

He is our biggest potential upside this season in my view - the player that is most likely to drive a significant improvement in United's overall performance relative to last season.

I think we're likely to finish somewhere between 4th and 7th, with 5th probably being about par for our squad - if that happens, it will be in part because Sesko has had a decent 15-goal Premier League season. But there is a chance that Sesko absolutely explodes and drags us into a genuine title race. Unlikely, perhaps, but definitely possible.

I mean it’s not like there’s been games every week the last 4 months
What does that matter, it's not like he would've been back quicker if there was. He's still not back for the start of the season. 4 months out injured is not a light knock

While you're right, I think many players are rushed back from injuries that could be long-term if not given the chance to properly heal. Back injuries, what Sesko seems to have had etc. The fact that there hasn't been football for him to play in that period means that we've been able to take our time and rehabilitate properly. Without having all the facts, I feel this type of injury in many cases would put him out for 6-8 weeks during the season and clubs/players would take more risk when there are games to be played and league positions at stake.

Considering the ramp in amount of games and intensity as the season goes on, we're going to need everybody at as close to peak fitness as we can get when the schedule gets congested. With that in mind it wouldn't make much sense to rush him back to intense contact-training for the first few matches that we should win anyway. I once had an inflammation in my shin due to overload. That fecker was persistant, and just wouldn't go away. It flared up again everytime I laced my boots, but I was too stubborn to step away for an extended period of time. I wasn't really close to the top level or anything, but that injury and lack of proper rehabilitation essentially ended my career as a footballer, limited though it was.

Good.
Had not seen any such pics or videos since the Leeds game. I guess this means there is no setback.

We need a player like him in the xi or on the bench. If not hull, hope he can be on the bench vs Ipswich.

I believe in his talent but I'm also concerned that he'll be spending as much time on the treatment table as Mount. He needs to stay fit.

Was a vague answer. Minutes against Hull or minutes in the matches to come hmm.
Carrick is unlikely to want to show his hand to the Hull manager but I think everyone could pick the Manchester United team for tomorrow plus the subs and the times that they are made.

As passive as ever. You’ve either got that natural strikers instinct or you haven’t, and he hasn’t. He’s a 6ft 5 striker who is jumping for headers and completely missing the ball. He wants 15 touches when the balls into his feet in the box. Someone like Cavani would have had a hattrick today.

Rooney did a number on me with his comments about how big his runs are and I genuinely can't not see it. Not great, but obviously not ready as well.

He had no preseason whatsoever. Jesus give the guy a minute. You'd think last season would have shut people up after the nonsense that was posted about him within the first 10 games when he had no preseason then either. Actually you wouldnt... Its completely expected that people never learn.

There weren't enough chances for the best strikers of all time to get a hat trick today.

He scored 10 goals in his last 15 appearances.

He then gets injured for 3 months, returns in his first game back plays the last 20 minutes in one of the worst team performances ever seen, and he's not got "strikers instinct".

Sounds perfectly rational.

I can think of 3 off the top of my head without watching it back. There were 2 headers which were fairly good chances where he completely missed the ball and there was the chance into his feet which a proper striker would have just lashed in that he took far too many chances and it came to nothing.

That looks good on paper but in reality, did he perform as those stats would suggest? I'd say not really. He certainly doesn't pass the eye test.

It helps when you have players that can cross a ball. I think shaw put a couple of decent crosses in but then there was a load that didn’t get past their first defender.

Yeah, he did have one golden chance though, I'd expect him to hit the target when sharper. In general the crossing is so pants.

For him to be getting stick after yesterday is absurd quite frankly. Pretty embarrassing stuff.

The forum sometimes…. The guy hasn’t played an ounce of football for 3 months - there’s a reason he was on the bench and nothing more.

Get a grip and move on… I’m sure he’ll score 20 plus this season.

We need him to stay fit. I think Mbeumo is a suitable backup. That makes Amad being on it very important.

I am a big fan of Sesko and think he has real potential but his injury record is starting to be a concern. Over three months out with a shin injury on top of a number of issues last season. It means he is now starting the season behind where he needs to be. He really needs a run without any issues. Hopefully we can have a few league cup games to help get lads up to speed quicker.

A conversation needs to be had here? Why can't he start a football match?
Why can’t the player who missed all of preseason with injury start the first two games of the season? It’s a head scratcher.

Really poor pass btw for that chance to put Mbeumo in. But again... No preseason, we should be expecting him to be very rusty and he looked it.

Looks way off it, but it is mad that we don't cross the ball at all when he comes on.

There’s rusty and there’s plain shite. That ‘pass’ falls firmly in the latter category.
