I agree with this. But I also feel the same way about Ekitike, who scored 2 more goals and had 3 more assists and is being lauded as prime Thierry Henry.
I think the striker market is such that the more established ones like Osimhen & Gykoraes (sp) are either too expensive or are wanting to join another club.
So I think the options are either Sesko or Ekitike. Two young strikers with high potential. I've always liked Sesko and wanted us to sign him when he was 17/18. I think if we could sign Sesko along with a quality midfield player, the transfer window would all of a sudden look far more exciting.

Yeah it's silly. I imagine Wirtz will end up a good player but he has it all to do.

No, we wont sign a striker this summer for 80m, that wont happen. Not after Cunha and Mbuemo.
Sesko is the wrong profile of striker for us.
People want someone with goals and suggest Sesko . I could see it earlier when he was very young, but he wasnt a great success at Leipzig. Paying 80m is just madness. Just because he is tall and quite elegant for his size. I think we need someone with mire goals right now

A more proven goalscorer
Someone that scores actual goals at a good rate. Right now Sesko is closer to being the next Moratta.
This, exactly this, however, depending on what the net income and wage differential comes out of it.
While Sesko is an enticing prospect, United is not in position to fail with the incoming striker. We have ways to climb too, and Watkins is more of a proven commodity in the PL.
In 3 years time or so we can either look for the established striker or hand it over to Zirkzee/Hojlund if they ever develop.
Wonder if INEOS would be open to allowing a release clause in his contract.
The Gyokeres / Delap mould is the prototype right? Good link up, can run the channels non stop, receive the ball and drag the team up through dribbling with the ball.
The box presence for headers, movement and the general striker skillset is all nice to have too.
I think we need a striker in the Gyökeres/Osimhen/Watkins mould. Someone who runs in behind and attacks the box. A player who generates (and delivers in line with) a high xG due to their movement, offensive positioning and finishing ability. A box crashing, high intensity/ high volume runner and finisher.
Agree 110% Watkins would suit so much better. He runs the channels so well and that is needed with 2 number 10s behind the striker.
And we really need a midfielder and keeper.
Hojlund and £40m?
The goals will flow if they raise the level in midfield. The likes of Bruno, Mbuemo, Amad and Cunha will score goals in advanced positions. The goal threat is high in attack imo but if your attack is constantly undermined by the midfield who are unable to vertically pass the ball forward and also help with containing the counter in a higher line, then it will be problematic again over the course of the season.
I think ideally I would've liked a striker who is aerially dominant. Someone like Osimhem would've been good in that regard but his wage demands are said to be a stumbling block.
I think with Sesko the asking price is too high if reports are to be believed. But he's a young striker who does have the attributes to potentially be elite unlike alot of the other players we're linked with imo. But for me the midfield is the most important area to strengthen. I'm yet to see United consistently dominate teams in a higher defensive line backing the high press. We're unable to execute the strategy because our first two lines have been weak. The first line has improved but the midfield needs players who not only can retain possession at a high level but also have the ability to vertically thread the lines whilst also controlling space in a higher line. Liverpool did that with Wijnaldum and Henderson.
Hojlund!
Højlund in his first season here, at least looked like the right profile of striker. Ideally, we just need a move experienced and refined version. What we saw from him last season, I cannot describe what sort of profile he was.
Sesko is more similar in style to Zirkzee, so it would make sense tactically for those to be our two striker options in terms of player profile with runners playing off either one of them. Mbeumo is a workhorse but I feel that Cunha prefers the ball at his feet.

There’s no chance of us signing him or any other expensive striker this transfer window. It’s going to be a late loan deal/free agent or we’ll just go with what we have.

Im actually in agreement with all of this. I just thing the price as you say is too high. For that kind of money I want better goalscoring pedigree.
Sesko has word class potential. Better than Gyökeres and Ekitike.
The price does seem excessive, especially for a team like ours who would probably be better off going for a marquee midfield signing and a central striker who fits into the value money signing category. Of course that all depends on how much the overall budget will be.

I’ve seen Sesko a few times and never seen a quality player. I can’t see how any deal happens if they want £80m. If we can sell Garnacho I’m expecting us to buy a CM or GK. Hojlund would have to leave.
