I'd rather pluck a fan from the streets and give them a starting place at left back than see this man play for City ever again.

Obviously at this point he's a disaster of a player but I really think it should be noted that his knee problems (torn ACL in his right, torn cartilage in his left) really hampered his development at a critical time in his career.

Through his first 2 seasons at City before doing the other knee he managed 6 assists in 14 starts. He's definitely missing something physically at this point though and has shown no indication that he'll be able to adapt to the new reality that are his physical limitations (akin to Fernando Torres when he moved to Chelsea).

I can't remember why I joined this war.
Said it before the season, as mad as it is with all the money they spend on fullbacks they need an upgrade on the left fullback position. It's not just that Mendy is injured too much, he also isn't that good when he isn't going forward.

The guy is just utter shite. Offers nothing going forward and defensively he’s a liability

He is a scapegoat. City have 10 other players plying badly but I only see people calling him out. What did KdB, Jesus and Sterling do today? It's weird

Bit more considered a response than the ones below yours.
He started like an absolute train, but doesn't look anywhere near the threat now.

His injuries have ruined him, unfortunately. When he first signed he was such an explosive asset, liability defensively but he could power forward and whip in some stunning balls. You can count on one hand the amount of times he he has put in a good cross this season. I’d let him go cheap at the end of the season in all honesty.

One of the first things City will do when the window opens is sign a leftback - most likely Alaba. He wants a move to La Liga but can't see the big two wanting to sign him.

What's interesting is that I feel as though a direct line can be drawn between Mendy's early showings and Sane leaving - Pep had made it clear that he preferred Mendy staying wide with Sterling in the left channel as opposed to Sane wide with one of the CMs stepping up (especially at the beginning of last season, where Sane was distinctly second choice). Already looks like a colossal blunder in retrospect that's only likely to get worse with time I'd reckon.

City are such an odd team. When they turn it on they probably are still the best team, and they showed that recently, bashing a few teams.

But they seem to get upset fairly regularly this season, and lost more in the league than us.

Injuries have ruptured things too, and they just look like they're needing a rethink and some huge signings down the centre, as well as Sterling type player on the other flank.

Yeah, he started very well when they first signed him but now looks a shadow of the player he was at Monaco.

Left back feels an odd position for City.

You had Delph in the 100 point season who did a decent job filling in there but he was only ever a stopgap and lost confidence of Pep the next season when he got recklessly sent off in one game and hardly played again.

Zinchenko is alright but no world beater and seemingly out of favour now and perhaps could move on.

And Mendy who's not been good for a long time.

Laporte could play there no problem but you need him centrally otherwise that means John Stones starting lots of games. Perhaps Ake will play a bit there.

Ake plays there for Holland so I think he'll end up there for us.
I feel for Zinchenko dude is a no.10 whose been shoehorned into left back for the majority of his senior career. Part of me was hoping he's move to Wolves when they were interested last season to see how he got on.

Mendy simply has to go. He's probably not as bad as he's been showing but his confidence is shot (even more after the abuse our fans gave him on social media tonight), he's playing in an unforgiving system. I think a £20m move to some midtable team or high end Ligue 1 team, dutch team etc... would do him good and maybe refresh him.

We haven't had a left back I've been happy with since Kolarov. What I wouldn't give to have him back at his best, for all his lack of pace, he had an iron will and would add some much needed balls to our current team of cowards.

Were you surprised you just loaned out Angelino back to Leipzig for another year? He played pretty well there last season by all accounts so not sure the thinking on that unless he was desperate to go back.

He wasn't great defensively when he got the chance but didn't get enough chances. Should have held on to him for sure. He couldn't be any worse. Being homegrown too would have been a plus.

Delph and Zinchenko overperformed for one season but none of them is good enough. Mendy's been destroyed by those knee injuries. Quite ridiculous that since the takeover Clichy's been their best left-back and even him was only so-so who offered absolutely nothing in attack.

City need to wash their hands with him and get rid. Guy is an absolute clown! To think I was really pissed off when they signed him from Monaco, the guy has been a huge flop.

Is it just me or is there a chronic lack of discipline across the City squad?

Why are people not asking questions of City, Pep and the ownership in terms of their control of the dressing room?

Do our resident City fans have a view on this?

Wouldn't say he's a wanker, rather an immature child without any sense of responsibility.
He's 26, if he was 18-21 you could probably say that, but acting the way he does at his age moves him into the wanker category.

This is beyond immaturity. Mendy should have a look at the death statistics. His behaviour is endangering not just well compensated colleagues, but other rank and file people at City.

Wasn't meant as an excuse, of course he should have grown up by now. Think he's a selfish clown without any discipline.

Imagine having a party at your place and asking an escort agency to send you "big booty latina" girls and then getting COVID from one of them and derailing your teams title ambitions?

On reflection it could definitely be deemed a sackable offence. They’ve had a game postponed due to covid and the rules have been strenuously told to players and staff for months now. Plus it’s in a period where they’re debating cancelling football. He at least needs a big fine or lengthy ban from the authorities.

Without question.

I would also say it’s at the point where it’s impacting other teams.

City should have no recourse to further postponements.

If they can’t field a team, they should forfeit the fixture.

I think canceling football is off the table but he'll probably never play for City again. I'd isolate him from the group for the rest of the season now, he can't be trusted.

It‘s funny how they are sticking with a guy who’s extremely prone to injuries, incredibly undisciplined and honestly not good enough to justify his antics, while they sold Angeliño to Leipzig, who is looking worldclass.
