It's a wonderful life for me. it expresses that Christmas can be a time of hope, but also can be a difficult time for others. It has real depth and soul and is actually quite a dark film about the battle between trying to be positive or giving into fear and isolation... that sometimes all you have to keep you going are zu zu's petals.

People have become blase about watching it on TV, but a few years ago I watched it in the Cornerhouse Cinema in Manchester. The opening scenes of starlight and peoples prayers for George had people crying within seconds.

Die Hard, there's no doubt about it.

Hercule Poirot's Christmas.

Poirot movies seem to be the only films I can sit through nowadays.

Its a wonderful life. I must have watched it over 15 times and consecutively for the last 5 years

I promised myself I would not watch it this year but Im already longing for it now so may not be able to resist

There are a few films that I'll try and watch every christmas period. I seldom manage to cram them all in, but the list is as follows.

Die Hard

It's A Wonderful Life
Scrooged
Elf
Ho Malone
Christmas Vacation
Bad Santa
Santa Claus The Movie

I'm gonna pick 3

Muppets Christmas Carol 'cause it's an absolute classic.

Die Hard 2 because it's obviously the best one

And an underrated one i'm going to go for would be The Polar Express. I really like that film. Didn't get the best reception upon release, but i think it's great.

Are you high? While I do agree it's underrated it's still second to the first one.
I can assure you i'm not high (too early in the day for that), and Die Hard 2 is indeed better than the first one. You just need to accept it.

Can't narrow it down to just one but I like these ones..
Gremlins
Die Hard
Elf
Bad Santa
Scrooged
Nightmare Before Christmas
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
A Christmas Horror Story
Batman Returns
Santa Claus The Movie (Dudley Moore)
Silent Night Deadly Night

Don't think I've ever watched a full Muppets film

Rarely mentioned and the book is perfect for the 'young at heart'.

Eyes Wide Shut easily. From newer stuff probably Krampus.

Die Hard's too obvious... Batman Returns had a great cast for a Christmas movie. Underrated sequel.

Ghostbusters II and Lethal Weapon were decent too.

Gremlins.

And I always think about the shining as a Christmas movie too.
Great shout.

At Christmas, I will always watch at least one of these films.

Home Alone and Gremlins as the classics, Krampus as the newcomer.

It's a Wonderful Life
The Sound of Music (though this is more of a New Year tradition)

Edit: I forgot The Shop Around the Corner

Muppets and Home Alone are great too. It's a Wonderful Life is good but there is something odd to me about it's messages. The benevolent banker lending more than people can afford to pay back and the way in which love and community manifests as cold hard lucre - the true christmas spirit and saviour -being just two examples.
