tbh that was more down to piss poor keeping than a great free kick. Immediately from the off he centres his weight onto the wrong leg and then when he realises where the balls going, he then moves to the left hand side. Dont get me wrong, great to get it on target, but should have been saved by a competent keeper.

Beckham against Greece by a country mile. I dont think a more ridiculous free kick has been scored at an important time, considering the 98 world cup, the aftermath, beckhams performance that day. One of those "some things are just meant to be" moments. I dont care who anybody else says, I would take David Beckham over any other free kick taker to save my life with one free kick. The man rises to the occasion.

Beckham vs Greece, the time in the match, the pressure for the goal, his calmness - this is the most memorable freekick for me

Ronnies vs Portsmouth.

And Ill always love Hargreaves free vs Arsenal in 2008 at Old Trafford. Stunning free and even better that you knew he was going to score given he had done the exact same thing vs Fulham a few months earlier and no one noticed.

While it did take a slight (massive) deflection RvPs vs City is one of the all time greats as well.

And for a non Utd freekick, Koemans vs England in the 94 qualifiers was a great free kick.

Roberto Carlos admitted his bendy effort at the Tournoi was a fluke. But this was 100% intentional.

The one against Bayern ~2:00 :drool:
Lyon had a fantastic squad (without oil money) and were quite unlucky never to win an european title. They finished 1st in a group where they had Bayern, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Edmilson, Patrick Muller, Clément, Diarra, Essien, Juninho, Malouda, Élber, Govou, Lisandro López, Dhorasso as a luxury baclkup, etc

All of these guys made great careers at top clubs.

This is an amazing squad even for today's standars.

Think this one would get a lot more appreciation if it didn’t look like it was filmed on a Nokia 3310.

That Ronaldo one against Portsmouth is the stand-out free kick for me. It's the first one I think of when anyone brings up best free kicks. David James just stands there and without having to say a word know he's thinking "Well, what the feck was I supposed to do about that one lads?"
I was there that day, parallel to Ronaldo. TV doesn’t do justice to how hard he hit that free kick. It seemed to leave his foot and then hit the back of the net within a half second

Always enjoy seeing the Ronaldo one v Blackburn from the side of the pitch near the tunnel. Was stood about 3 rows back right behind him and said "this is never going in". Class.

The curve on this one is just beautiful, first replay's the best angle.

The one vs England 2014 would have been glorious if it went in, Joe Hart getting completely duped by the swerve.

Was supposed to be one of the best fk takers in the world during his time at Bayer. Transfers to Milan and he can't score from a fk to save his life
It already went downhill for him in his last season for us. He suddenly lost his mojo. Really weird, I was fully comvinced he was Juninho's heir back then. His technique was outstanding and he hself said that he tried to copy him.

Beckham vs Colombia has a nicer shape to it than the Greece goal, imo.

I like Irwins in the 3 all at Anfield too.

I remember Elano scoring one for City against Newcastle I think, around 10 years ago. It couldn’t have gone any more in the corner, and it was hard as feck.

The last angle of this shows how great it is.

The Dimitri Payet one in 2016 against CP.
Best one of the past 5 years. On the edge of breaking the laws of physics.

Beckham and Juninho deserve to be on this list, not Ronaldo or Roberto Carlos.

Beckham and Juninho were ultra precise, could place the ball anywhere they wanted, and had a supercomputer's ability to calculate curve and speed.

Ronaldo and Carlos scored some spectacular goals, don't get me wrong. Arguably even more spectacular than the first two. But their technique was to wallop it as hard as possible in the general direction of the goal, then hope the ball move in such a way that it stayed on target but the keeper couldn't save it.

The first two are artists. The second two were demolition experts.

Other good strikers of a ball Geovani, Hasselbaink, Riise, Fabio Rochemback, Alex. Even David Luiz has scored some crackers.

Great shouts in this thread. The Payet one vs Palace is just ridiculous.

There was one from an Aston Villa full back where a team mate flicked the ball up and he volleyed it in. That was special. Did see if replicated afterwards.

Beckhams forgotten/rarely seen freekick(4:26, not allowed to post media yet)

Even a lot of hardcore Beckham fans are not aware of/don't remember Beckhams freekick vs arsenal in the 99 charity shield.
It certainly crossed the line, it was confirmed in the post-match talk. but you can also see it on this video.
that amazing freekick resulted in a goal, no matter whoever eventually became credited, so I think it's strange you don't see it in Beckham compilations on yt, etc..

Oleksandr Aliyev's free kick. Search his name on youtube. That one is insane.
