Surprised nobody has mentioned There Will be Blood yet.

The opening to Scream was fun at the time too.

The Social Network had a great opening as I recall.

Oh and Baby Driver's was amazing and arguably the best scene of the whole film and one of the best car chases I've seen

I love the opening scene from Scarface when he's being interviewed by ICE or whatever they were called in the 80s.

I want my fecking human rights, just like your president Jimmy Carter says!

The opening scene from the latest Mortal Kombat flick is also very good, especially compared to the dumpster fire that is the rest of it.

Love the opening to Rear Window, sets the film so well.

For a less highbrow choice, the start of Scream is great too.
Scream is an excellent shout, very fresh back then too.
Casino royale had a very cool opening action scene with the chase across the building site, jumping off the crane and ending in the embassy with a huge explosion.
Wasn't the opening scene the one in black and white where he has to kill a guy to acquire his 00 status? Which was a very nice scene in itself, in fact.

Yeah There will be blood's was mesmerizing. Social Network's was nice, with the White Stripes' Ball and Biscuit music playing I think.

It was very cool. Edgar Wright is usually quite amazing at kicking off his films, high tempo, great editing...
Once Upon a Time in the West.
Probably the all time best, with my favourite being...

"I believe in America"

It's flawless. It just sets out everything so masterfully, and... well, Brando.

Minor nitpick, but I wouldn’t call that the Deep South. Texas could be considered Southern in general, but only the eastern portions border the core of the ‘Deep’ South. It needs to look more like True Detective S1 to be called that.
Thanks bro. You must be fun at parties.

How could I forget Children of Men?

In fairness you could pick any single shot sequence from that film.

That has to be right up there. Such a lovely performance to start the film.

One of my favourite films Repo Man.

Motorcycle Cop "Whatcha got in the trunk ? "
Frank Parnell "Oh... You don't wanna look in there."

This doesn't work without videos
Exactly, and we've done this before because i definitely remember posting this.

Without the video, it simply would have been "man climbing on rocks nearly gets hit by rocket. receieves top secret mission and nearly gets killed again by exploding sunglasses".

A few superhero nominations, so I’ll throw Superman into the mix. Incredible effects and a stunning score that highlights the majesty of planet Krypton. Gives me goosebumps to this day.
