Surprised to not see a thread about this show. Is no one watching it?

It's definitely one of the best shows I've seen this year and yet another top show from Apple.

For those that are watching it, just how good was Taron Egerton in the latest episode (5)?!

It’s absolutely brilliant. Apple are making a lot of great shows right now.

Episode 5 is one of the best tv episodes I’ve seen in quite some time.

I got annoyed by the subplot with sexual tension between the FBI agent and the protagonist. It felt like the premise for a porn film. I switched off when she told him that she'd pretend to be his girlfriend. Prior to that she was asking him what kind of women he prefers. It's hard to cheer on a good looking arms dealer who gets to shag whoever he wants.

For me it doesn't really serve any purpose and I wonder if its actually part of the true story.

I thought it was pretty obvious that the point of that scene was for her to find out if he’s actually empathetic towards women or just treats them as objects to bone. It turned out to be the former which proved to her that he would actually care about catching Larry because of what he’s done.

Mainly watched this based on the OP’s recommendation, and am glad I did. It’s superb. The antagonist is creepy as feck. Egerton also got seriously jacked for this role, but it is a little hard to take his big man persona seriously when you see him walking around. He’s a really small guy and you can see him wearing lifts in his boots.

It’s a really great series. The guy playing Larry also put in an excellent performance and his resemblance to the actual serial killer is uncanny. #burnsides

A brilliant & chilling watch. Performances were superb, especially the guy playing Larry. The music was really good too.

Great finale. What a quality show.

my only gripe was the guy being on vacation was a bit contrived to suit the story

Fantastic show. There was some stuff left unexplained and could probably have had an extra episode to wrap things up (like the guard) but from what I've read they did try to keep it as accurate to real events as possible with the real Keene being a producer on the show. So if the guard did exist (never read the book) I guess Keene would never have known what happened to him. Does feel like that bit of the show may have been created to add a bit more drama and suspense to things.

Yeah they could've developed the guard narrative a bit more (or at a minimum provided some closure on what happened with him). They may have felt constrained by a need to stick to the actual events and not have to invent any extra drama to ratchet up the tension for audiences.

Just finished this. It really scratched the itch Netflix scrapping Mindhunter left behind.

Some great performances, not only from the main two, but from Ray Liotta, the FBI girl and the cop as well.

I thought it was brilliant, some of the best acting, verbally and emotionally, I have seen on a TV series.
It is a bit slow sometimes, but it did suck me in. I would definitely recommend a watch.

Hauser was very obviously brilliant, although I've always thought that those types of histrionic characters are "easier" to get a striking performance out of. I was very impressed with Liotta, so fecking good until practically the day he died.
