I can not even with this BS today.
No surprise that @MoneyMay has his knickers in a twist again over something as simple as a party costume.
Oh look, some more posts that show a lack of knowledge. (No surprise it's @Mister_Stubbs with the nonsensical posts again.)
Stop being such an arse. People may not be aware of what you say, does that make them stupid? How are people here so stupid, do you know the history of blackface and what it represents, stop acting like there is nothing wrong with this
Does it go just for actors then? Or does this apply to people dressing up for a fancy dress party? When white actors would paint their faces black to resemble black people. Accompanied by a performance stereotyping them as buffoons.
Ok, thanks.White people mocked us heavily doing this type of thing. It's a REAL big issue, especially here in the states.
It applies to everyone and it takes one second to google blackface so yes they are stupid. You can't tell POC what they can and can't be offended by. This has a dark history and is highly offensive. Just as someone would take offense to stamping on a Poppy or something. Just a wrong thing to doStop being such an arse. People may not be aware of what you say, does that make them stupid?
Also I have just googles it.

It does take one second to google blackface, but in order to know the term blackface means you have the knowledge of it already doesn't it? If yoyu have never heard of blackface, how the feck are you meant to know to google blackface? It applies to everyone and it takes one second to google blackface so yes they are stupid. About as racist as that film white chicks.
Is he dressed as a specific person/character or just a generic black basketball player? If it’s the first then it’s daft but not in any way racism or bigotry.
Ah lads, c'mon now..It's not even remotely racist, anyone who thinks it is or takes offence needs to get a life.
Well according to @space that makes you stupid for not knowing the term and to google it.I've been on this planet 30 odd years and never heard of black face before, after researching it can see why people might be offended.
Is correct. It's a massive deal in the USA but I doubt the majority of the European population realizes how serious of an issue it is. Could be a simple case of cultural ignorance.
Yup.Is correct.
wow man are you really upset that I called people stupid for not being able to google blackface before commenting about it. It doesn't take a genius to know my comments are aimed at the people saying it is not offensive. Who gives a feck about the term can we talk about the act??Well according to @space that makes you stupid for not knowing the term and to google it.
No idea what you’re talking about...big L..?Educate yourself, please, before you hold a big L.
People are saying it isn't offensive not because they are racist, it is because they are uneducated in the term blackface. I have never heard the term before tonight, yet you think people should have googled the term to educate themselves. All I was asking is how do we google a term we know nothing about?wow man are you really upset that I called people stupid for not being able to google blackface before commenting about it. It doesn't take a genius to know my comments are aimed at the people saying it is not offensive. Who gives a feck about the term can we talk about the act??
Correct. However, now I think about it, Griezmann had to be familiar with it somehow, or how else would he know to put it on? He probably thought it was a fashion accessory or something Honestly, footballers nowadays. It does take one second to google blackface, but in order to know the term blackface means you have the knowledge of it already doesn't it? If yoyu have never heard of blackface, how the feck are you meant to know to google blackface?
Maybe mainland Europe, but the black and white minstrel show was taken off air in the 60s because it was seen as racist (and then bought back for 10 years) at the time. People in the UK can hardly act like there's been no controversy with blackface in our recent history. Is correct.
The Netherlands still have the "Black Pete" Christmas tradition and the German national team had a picture in blackface like last year. It's a massive deal in the USA but I doubt the majority of the European population realizes how serious of an issue it is. Could be a simple case of cultural ignorance.
by typing it into google??People are saying it isn't offensive not because they are racist, it is because they are uneducated in the term blackface. I have never heard the term before tonight, yet you think people should have googled the term to educate themselves. All I was asking is how do we google a term we know nothing about?
By typing what into google?by typing it into google??
The Netherlands faced severe backlash last year, if I remember correctly. They've toned it down to a more socially accepted version of that particular tradition now. Dunno enough about the German NT pic to comment. The Netherlands still have the "Black Pete" Christmas tradition and the German national team had a picture in blackface like last year.
Or go as 90’s Jackson and white up.The Harlem Globetrotters aren’t even a particularly 80s thing. I mean, if you MUST black up, at least go with Michael Jackson, give yourself some leeway.
This is the worst argument in the history of the world btw. Have you used google before?By typing what into google?
Not knowing the term, means you don't know how to research it.

Right let me put it this way ffs. If someone isn't aware of the term blackface (like myself), and thinks dressing up as a black basketball star isn't racist, then what exactly am I googling? This is the worst argument in the history of the world btw. Have you used google before?
Huge mistake on my part it was Deinster SV.The Netherlands faced severe backlash last year, if I remember correctly. They've toned it down to a more socially accepted version of that particular tradition now. Dunno enough about the German NT pic to comment.

'Why is dressing up as a black person racist?'Right let me put it this way ffs. If someone isn't aware of the term blackface (like myself), and thinks dressing up as a black basketball star isn't racist, then what exactly am I googling?
I'm confused. Educate me before we go any further. Him dressing up as a black basketball player says what to you?'Why is dressing up as a black person racist?'
Dressing up as a black person is not racist. Using blackface to dress up as a black person is racist.'Why is dressing up as a black person racist?'
No we don’t.We just need to stop fancy dress parties.
