Association Football Club Bournemouth - nicknamed The Cherries, and Boscombe - are a professional football club based in Bournemouth, Dorset. The exact date of the club's foundation is not known, but there is proof that it was formed as Bascombe FC in the autumn of 1899 out of the remains of the older Boscombe St. John's Lads’ Institute FC. Nicknamed The Cherries (Dean Court was built adjacent to the Cooper-Dean estate, which encompassed numerous cherry orchards), the team traditionally played in red shirts with white sleeves until 1971, when the strip was changed to red and black stripes, similar to that of AC Milan. Bournemouth have spent 69 seasons in the second division of English football, and this is their second season of participation in the top tier of English football. Bournemouth's most prominent rivalries include Brighton & Hove Albion, Reading FC and Southampton FC; and they play their home games at Dean Court, Bournemouth.

Hope to see Mkhitaryan play but Jose will probably keep with Lingard and Rooney. I think we will win 1-0...Ibra penalty.

    Early Predicted Lineup:

    ________________________________________________________________

    1. de Gea

    25. Valencia 3. Bailly 17. Blind 23. Shaw

    6. Pogba 16. Carrick

    14. Lingard 10. Rooney 11. Martial

    9. Ibrahimovic
    _________________________________________________________________

    Bench:
    20. Romero, 5. Rojo, 21. Herrera, 27. Fellaini, 22. Mkhitaryan, 8. Mata, 19. Rashford

Bournemouth 0-4 Man Utd (Ibrahimovic X2, Rooney, Rashford)
Before the Leicester game I would have expected Pogba to come off the bench but the fact that Herrera didn't start tells me we're probably going to see Pogba start the game against Bournemouth. Mkhitaryan, Lingard, or Martial is a bit of a toss up imo but I think the lack of minutes Mkhi got against Leicester makes it unlikely he'll start against Bournemouth though I could be wrong. A bit harsh to drop Lingard after his wondergoal too. Looking forward to the game. Think Bournemouth could be relegation candidates this season and I don't see their defence being able to contain our attack. If they do score it will likely be through Callum Wilson.

Don't think Pogba will start. He's not going to be anywhere near match fit.

Same here. It was only a couple days ago he was partying in Vegas. Maybe a late appearance if we are lucky.

Suspect we'll play the same XI as today, not all bad as Fellaini did score on this ground last season (hopefully on the winning side this time around)

Exciting to finally start, especially after today. Lineup will probably be almost the same as today, maybe Herrera in midfield instead of Fellaini as Bournemouth don't normally play high balls or things like that. But I can see the same team playing. Mkhitaryan I hope starts, though it would be harsh to drop Lingard as I thought he was class today til the injury. Mkhitaryan instead of Rooney would be brilliant but Rooney isn't going to be dropped so you can forget that. Pogba likely only a sub, more likely debut against Southampton.

What I think our best 11 should be for the season (but no chance of it today):

    De Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
    ---------Carrick--------
    Pogba --------------------
    ------------------Mata
    Mkhitaryan - Ibrahimovic - Martial

A good old fashioned 0-3 win on the road would do nicely. Our away form under LVG was atrocious in these kind of games. Even Moyes did better.

He looks s naturally fit guy to be fair though. Also looked to have played one or two other sports on holidays. Doubt it'll take much to get him match fit.

I doubt Pogba will start. Would love to see a 4-4-2 with Rashford and Ibra upfront, Mkhitaryan on the right and Lingard on the left. IMO Martial seems a bit jaded and needs some rest, and therefore it might be better to let him come off the bench instead of Rashford.

We still look a little under-cooked for the start of the season. I don't think this match will be as easy as some seem to be expecting.
Also, I highly doubt Pogba will start.
It may be Tuesday before he even does a training session with the team.

I can't believe that people are discussing if Pogba starts :houllier:......he will not even be in the squad.

No injuries in training and i reckon the only change in the Starting XI will be Herrera or Schneiderlin for Fellaini.

Pogba won't even be on the bench and with Southampton 5 days later Friday I think there is a chance he might not be on the bench for that one either. If he is in the squad for that one will likely be as a sub and he'll have a 15-20 minute appearance.

His first start will be against Hull

Fitness wise, not sure if the team is up to scratch yet. Pillowsophy is still apparent, slowly but surely dissipating. We would be very lucky even if Pogba make the subs bench, let alone start. In season opener. Away.

Carrick didn't play well against Leicester. So Schneiderlin gets in for him. Would love it if Rooney is replaced by Mkhi in our starting 11 but I don't expect him to be dropped. I'm predicting us to win 2-0.

Don't think this match will be as easy as some may think. I think it will be a tight 2-1 win to United.

Pogba to come on for the last 20 mins

Would be stunned if Pogba was even in the squad for the first game. More than likely he'll be given a week or so in training before making his return against Southampton.

I'm looking forward to the Bournemouth game but I've really got my eye on the game against Southampton.

Old Trafford. On a Friday night under the lights. Mourinho taking his bow. Pogo returning. A galvanised Stretford End.

    Hello Manchester United.

I reckon that midfield is a bit too attacking for the first premier league game of the season, especially an away game.

Swap Herrera with Carrick and Lingard with Mkhi - I reckon that will be the team. Pretty harsh to drop Lingard after that cracking goal yesterday. Mkhi will get half an hour off the bench.

Just look at that team. Just what on earth was LVG thinking - that we're Ajax and it's 1994??????? just a few quality changes and we're back in the game again. YOU WAISTED VALUABLE TIME FOR US.

There is no way Pogba starts. Hopefully he makes the bench. I want Mkhitaryan to start but I can't see that happening at the moment.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Bailly--Blind--Shaw
    Carrick--Schneiderlin
    Lingard--Rooney--Martial
    Ibrahimovic

subs: Romero, Rojo, Herrera, Pogba, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford

I also want Herrera to start but maybe he will think that's a bit too offensive for an away game.

Would like to see the following:

    < Rooney & Fellaini
    > Herrera & Mkhitaryan

Unlikely as it is. Swap Schneiderlin for Carrick if the plan is to limit Carrick's minutes this season.

I honestly have not the foggiest notion of what the score will be. Four years ago, I'd have said about 3-0 to United. Last season, I predicted they would win 2-1. This season? I guess it's down to whether an LVG-type United take the field or whether Jose has managed to shake them up enough already. I do think Bournemouth will suffer from those second-season-in-the-PL blues but it's a question of when that will kick in. More excited at the beginning of a season than for ages though
