How do we all feel about these? Are they the epitome of everything that's wrong with our club? Or are they a healthy interest outside of football?

JLINGZ

Jesse Lingard's clothing line. Launched in December of 2018 after we battered Fulham at home and just before the game against Liverpool. Did he time the launch to get maximum exposure? Knowing United vs Liverpool is world wide news? Should he have been focused on the game instead of having a clothing line distraction going on in the background? Let's see what Gary Neville and Roy Keane think:

My burning question is who is the target audience? It's not rival fans, it's not United fans and no school kid is running around a play ground wanting to be the next Jesse Lingard...

https://jlingz.com/

UPDATE June 2020:

Company financials

JJO

Alexis Sanchez clothing brand. Launched after the 3-2 away defeat to Brighton, a game in which Sanchez himself did not play due to injury. Sanchez later deleted the Tweets promoting the brand after a huge fan backlash questioning his commitment to the team and the timing of the launch.

UPDATE June 2020: JJO brand no longer in operation

Fierce

Romelu Lukaku's limited edition cologne, available at Abercrombie and Fitch. Released April 29th after the 4-0 away defeat to Everton and draw to Chelsea, effectively ending United's chance for a top 4 finish. Currently still advertised on his Twitter feed but has come in for a torrent of abuse from fans. Comments such as:

"Does each spray only last for 20 mins before running out of strength and fading completely??"

UPDATE June 2020: No longer associated with Lukaku but still sold in stores

AM9

Anthony Martial's brand name, release just before Zlatan arrived and he became AM11, which apparently upset him to no end. The brand was also released with a website that tracks all Martial's stats for club and country, a live CV if you will, very much focused on the Frenchman and his achievements.

You can also buy phone cases peripherals with AM9 branding on them.

UPDATE June 2020: Website taken down, no longer trading.

JM8

Perhaps more innocent than the rest, Juan Mata keeps a blog on his personal website about his trails and tribulations as a footballing millionaire. To be fair to Mata, he uses his position to try and change the world for good and shed awareness on important ventures. Mata also started a charity that gives up 1% of his (and other footballers who sign up) salary to people in need.

UPDATE June 2020: Still in operation but not selling anything

Paul Pogba Adidas Collection

One of many of Paul Pogba's promotional campaigns regarding one of his sponsors. Adidas now have a Pogba inspired clothing line, with more on the way. To be fair, a World Cup winner will always sell things, especially in France.

https://www.adidas.com/us/paul_pogba

I'm not sure how others feel but for me, we have a group of players who think they've made it and use United as a platform for their own personal interests. They're either poorly advised or they believe their own hype.

UPDATE June 2020: Now into Season 2 of the Paul Pogba collection on the ADIDAS store.

My own reply to Lukaku:

*Edit/Update --- Honourable mentions

#TC23

The man, the myth, the legend. Tom Cleverly set up the TC23 brand during an injury lay off after playing a mere 5 games for the United first team.

Tom came in for an abundance of stick which saw him leave Twitter and shut the brand down in the end.

Tom says he did it for charity and had no desire to pursue the branding until later in his career, a career that never developed into what it promised to be at the beginning.

Interestingly, the TC23 website is now gone and redirects to a Japanese porn site when you try to visit it. You've been warned but I have no doubt some of you will still try...

Here's an article regarding the branding and how it was received back in 2012: http://therepublikofmancunia.com/tom-cleverley-the-brand/

To be honest I wouldn't care what they did off the pitch if they are performing on it.

The fact that they are not makes them look like entitled dickheads when you see all this. Mata excluded of course.

What’s wrong with players having business ventures outside of football? It’s a short career and you hear of countless ex players who are potless. Sick of people saying they aren’t interested because they have other things going on, I presume they focus on nothing in life other than their jobs, if everything was rosy on the pitch, no one cares, Fairly sure Neymar, Ronaldo etc all have brands as well,

It's a question of focus. Ronaldo has all of this, but his main and ultimate focus is to be the best.

Yeah I've got a problem with it when they're playing like shit and using this club as a platform to boost their already ridiculous bank accounts.

And how do you know that other players aren’t as focused? Just because they’re not the best doesn’t mean they don’t want to be

Well you could argue that these ventures will cost them more money than they make. Lingard's clothing line won't last more than 2 years before going bust. Zlatan recently closed down his because no one wants to buy his branded clothes, and he's Zlatan! At what point does this become an unnecessary distraction instead of just a side interest?

Plus normal Joes like us don't have thousands of people watching us work and paying us to do so every week. I don't think I've ever clapped around the room when I've finished my shift or dived on the floor when I've solved a problem.

And you definitely don't want to see me try to breakdance.

You could also argue that it won’t? Rios has done well and he’s not a big a name as Zlatan?

Most of them seem like complete twats, but I'd be perfectly prepared to forgive that if they were any good on the pitch - they're not.

Personally I feel like its partly the club that encorages these things. It cannot be a coincidence that these players started these lines whilst at this club.

Pogba, Lukaku and Sanchez specifically.

But that's the problem, we haven't been successful! This is where fans get frustrated, they lose a game some don't seem too bothered, they head to Instagram and do a stupid dance in the dressing room.
SAF saw that Beckham's head was turned by media life and was more interested in becoming a global brand so got rid.
Now we have a team of Beckham's! How many clothing lines did you see players come out with in the last 15years? Ronaldo is 1 but could you blame him or say his head is turned? No because you know by the way he plays he wants to win every match! Our lot don't.

Well when your Twitter and Instagram followers go from a few thousand to millions over night it's kind of hard not to believe that people want to buy the things you're selling.

Look at the performances, that should say it all.
You can argue about this till you blue in your face but the fact is, and this is in all walks of life not only football, if you do not have focus in what you do you will never be a good as you can be.
Not everybody is a Ronaldo or Messi, but you can try to be the best you can be. From what I'm witnessing, nobody is bloody trying.

I pointed out to this matter before and was rebuffed and criticized for it. Imagine the mindset of some of this average turd of shits. I mean Jesse fecking Lingard promoting a brand? Complacency has crept in on so many levels in this club. Ashley Young coming out yesterday and speaking shit about "can't fault the effort and attitude" is just a part of all this shit.

Players are always going to have outside interests and look to make money from their image rights. What exactly are people proposing? You do your training and that sit on your hands all day? Good on them for doing something other than drinking and gambling for vast sums.

Let's not forget the legendary TM23 brand as well. The height of self indulgence.

Don’t care.

It doesn’t effect them on the pitch. Lukakus lack of a first touch isn’t because he’s selling aftershave.

Obertans #1 fan.
If the rumours are true that Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford skipped free kick training last month to personally knit JLingz clothing range I have to admit that is a worrying trend.

It’s bollocks, symptomatic of their lack of focus- they think they’ve got nothing left to prove cause they’re playing for united. I agree with what Keano said about it being a sign of a week dressing room with nobody keeping egos in check.

Mata does not deserve to be mentioned amongst those others.

What muppets actually buy these things? I wouldn’t even make my cat wear anything with JLingz printed on it or the other cats in the neighbourhood would laugh at her.

Anthony Martial's brand name AM9, released just before Zlatan arrived and he became AM11
That’s funny. It just shows exactly how this club is run.

None of us would give a shit if they played for a successful football team. And plenty of players that play for successful football teams have similar business ventures. So yeah, this is a complete non-issue.
So are we giving average players a platform to promote themselves as they know they won't be at United for long, or are we allowing talented footballers to pursue other interests outside of football as we know they're capable of winning trophies in the long run?

Most should take a long hard look at why they are able to launch all these lines, it's because they play for Man Utd, does Lingard think anyone would buy his crap if he played for Wolves? Same goes for the rest bar Pogba.

Fact of the matter is they need United more than they need them, but for some reason our board wants to throw money at cross like Lingard, we need to get our act together and stop letting crap players piggyback off our name and show them the door and make it known to them that if they dont perform on the pitch, watch their "JLingz" tat go down the drain as no one gives a rats ass about them.

Fully agree. These lot need to decide if they are footballers or models.

Also it seems there is a library of ready made quotes which maybe its just me but I seem to have heard after every defeat or setback this season:

"We will analyse where things went wrong and correct it"
"We will work on it on the training ground"
"We will dust ourselves down and put this behind us"
"Our focus now needs to be on the next game"
"We owe it to the fans to put things right"

Load of balls. Fed up hearing all this shit.

Well I've defended Lukaku many times on here, but that's not exactly true. We've seen Lukaku play very good in one half and than like an absolute amateur in the second. Almost like I did my job in the first and his focus drops. It can be attributed to a person with weak focus and shit like this is another sign of it.

This is true, however, non of these mamma's boys are playing for a successful team. Their contribution to this team is pretty much awful, I'm sure you will agree. Especially the likes of Jesse, Lukaku & Sanchez.
It's either you do what you do while being good at your core function or you just plain not good enough to be here and should feck off. Let's see how far their brands would take them when they don't have the commercial vehicle of UTD anymore.
