I saw that vid doing the rounds on FT and they unsurprisingly cut out the worldies he's scored

Rival fans are treating him like Barcelona fans treated Ronaldo in Madrid and I'm all the way here for their tears

Being hated is part of our football heritage as a club as Jose would say.

I missed it over the last few years when we were treated more as a banter club ala Arsenal and Liverpool before Klopp but you can slowly see rival fans getting back to fearing and hating us as we get closer to being back to where we should be.

The crying and complaining about VAR or the height of the grass on the pitch when we have the likes of Sancho running at defenses with Bruno will be glorious hehe
Yep, I would rather see Bruno get 20 goals and assists and get bantered rather than having Lingard or Perreira and not getting anywhere.

The last time I remember getting this bantered was when Ronaldo was being called a diver. Look how that turned out.

I know he likes to try things but those turnovers are way too high. He needs to be more certain and accurate next season. That crystal palace game was a horror show but he still found a way to assist which amazes me.

That turnover stat/chart has him as 88% percentile (as in one of the best at low turnovers... 1.5 per game is the best, 4.8 per game the worst). Though then again, this is a comparison of him to wingers/second striker types, not standard central midfielders.

Questioning the stats since whoscored and statsbomb, and then understat for xG related stuff have different values for pretty much all of them:
Understat xG for Bruno in the league - 0.44/90 mins
Statsbomb - 0.2

Whoscored shots per game - 3.1
Statsbomb - 2.82
Understat shots per 90 - 3.27

Whoscored pass % - 75.7%
Statsbomb - 72%

Understat XG assisted per 90 - 0.2
Statsbomb "open play xG assisted" - 0.15

Understat xG per shot - 0.14
Statsbomb xG per shot - 0.07

They might have just removed all set piece data from these numbers and kept it purely open play.
Anyway, Bruno is a quality midfielder, the underlying numbers will get better in time but his games also came in a very weird period for us where we had no creators but a solid base which enabled him to be pretty much a pure risk taker without holding back, and for the first half, a lot of injuries with and the 2nd half, crazy amount of games in a short space of time. Hard to judge things properly, but I have no doubt his overall play will improve more and he'll become more rounded next year (he's excellent technically and a very quick thinker, great vision and with an excellent engine). Would like to see him join Pogba as 2 roaming #8's more anyway, in front of a holding mid, and I think he'd adapt his game better as a result, but we'll see.

I think what I like most about him is his final ball. He tried things a lot and sometimes they don’t pan out but when they do we often score.

I think tactically he needs to drop deeper when we are trying to build from the back rather than playing as a second striker. There were times against Southampton when pogba was so isolated because matic would drop back to form a 3 with our defense. That’s when Bruno should drop back to form a 433 instead of 4231. Not placing the blame on him because it’s Oles job to tell these guys what to do tactically.

Bruno has more intent than most of most our midfield for the last 7 years. I couldn't care less about his turnover rate. I wouldn't compromise on this.

He just needs to find the fine balance that's all. Sometimes I've seen him go forward and lose the ball at a time where it wasn't needed, it felt a bit rushed. Hang onto it a tiny bit longer and let the space/run open up, or go to the wider option whos in more space and then get into the box or overlap yourself.

To be fair that decision making was mainly when he was tired so i'm going to attribute it to that. I do like his style of play but I think the point that sticks out the most was against Palace. We had a counter attack and he tried to force a through ball and they cut it out, immediately countered and scored (they were offside) in that situation he could have just been a little more careful and we still had a good chance to score.

Anyway, I think next season with a good rest we will see an even better Bruno!

As much as I appreciate his contributions I would love he reduces the turnover, way to high for a player of his quality. Some passes are just not on but he forces it. Lets see how he does in his first full season but the signs are very good.

Yeah hopefully this over forcing issue is due to fatigue. I also remember that moment against Palace. Greenwood was in acre of space and the right pass should have been Bruno to him and he'd have run in acre of space and that was always going to be a dangerous situation given we were on the counter. Bruno instead tried a low percentage pass to Martial which wasn't even on given how early he tried to release the through ball to him.

Hopefully with a rest he'd get back to his earlier form where he only lost balls attempting risky passes and not failing to even make the simpler ones like he'd done the last 5 or so games. His touch has also deserted him which could also be due to fatigue. Bruno being tired which led to him being sloppy combined with our back failing to play through a press which could also be due to fatigue(and factors like AWB being poor in building from the back and the other outlet in Shaw who is at least capable of building from the back being out) has led to us failing to keep control of the ball and games in our last 4-5 games.

Fingers crossed by the time we restart the Europa the team will have had a good rest and play closer to maximum level.

Yep this is he biggest sign for me, it's just a lapse of concentration through mental fatigue. His touch and short passing was usually always really crisp, sharp and fast.

The heavy touch he took in the 1st half against West Ham where Rashford played a ball over the top summed it up perfectly, he would normally kill that dead.

Anyways i'm not worried, we've seen his base level is usually much higher than this.

Yeah loving this. Especially compare to the laugh Lingard or Pereira usually get. I used to get clips or tweets sent from my friends about Lingard and Pereira ...

We cant go another season overplaying him. Yes, he is important and lead us to a the third place but we cant play him in every League and FA Cup game etc. Even better, we should learn how to win league games without him. One of my major concerns regarding Ole is that he overplays some players, like Rashford, AWB, Maguire and Bruno.

I think it is slightly unfair to point the finger at Ole.

He has given players a chance this season.

James, Dalot, Taunzebe, Jones, Lingard, Perriera etc.. and they have not really shown anything to show that they can play instead of the names you mentioned.

Maguire is our captain, the one game we played without him, we got opened up Vs City.
Without Bruno, we struggled for creativity all season.

Ole was fighting for his job, a tired Bruno and Maguire was better than the alternatives we had and it prived by the fact that we got top 4.

If some people on here are mad about Bruno's loss of posession (turnover stat), then I would kindly remind them of the football we played under LVG and more recently, under Mourinho. Not only did we play the most boring football ever, it seemed like our players were instructed to stick to their positions and play sideway passes until some safe passing lane opened up.

I remember many posters crying out for a player that would have the balls to take risky chances and create something. We had it initially from Pogba, but we all know how that situation panned out. Now we have Bruno who has rejuvenated our attacking options with those exact risky approaches. Yes, many of those passes end up with us losing posession, but as posters here previously stated, if the pass works, it often leads to a goal or an assist.

The only thing left to say here - ''...if only we have got him sooner''.

Yes the only thing is if we are 1 goal up with 15-20 mins to go, I would like him to try to retain the ball as he is good with it, rather than score with it every opportunity. That's the only balance I would like.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
It was this 1:49, Bruno's hop here is somewhat "weaker"?

So basically the keeper fake saving one way then make save the other. That's too common. Best used against penalty takers that like to try and read keepers, I don't think that's Bruno.

I'm not worried.
Bruno mixed it up. He doesn't always use the hop penalty kick technique (which is much better now than that vid in 2018). That hop rely on keeper to make the first move. He also have used immediate shots penalty kicks a lot already this season that is more shoot first, ask questions later.

Against Leicester he was trying and losing possession left and right. But when the moment presented itself he sent a magnificent perfectly weighed through ball to martial, resulting into pen. That's bruno.

I can see what other posters' concern is. But for now I wouldn't fix what works. Early on when he was fresh he had much fewer turnovers. That also needs to be considered.

If he's giving the ball away in non threatening positions because he's trying to make something happen, so be it. I'd rather have a player in that position focused on creating rather than worrying about their possession stats.

That doesn't mean I was happy with the amount he gave the ball away in the last few matches, but from all the evidence we've had that would seem to be the exception rather than the norm and coincided with him looking leggy after an intense run of games.

Absolutely not. I have no issue with him losing the ball because his risks pay off so often. Having him play safer will invariably mean he creates less. We've had enough safe passers in this team over the years to see the value of a risk taker.

United without Bruno = Top 6 contender

False! Pogba would have guided us to top 3 if he wasn’t injured. I think it’s important to realize that without Bruno we are still a top 3 club in the league. Injuries fecked is.

However I do think with Bruno we could push for the league. That’s the difference with his signing. A few quality additions to compensate for injuries and we can win it next year.

There is no comparison between the style of Pogba and Bruno. Pogba dictates the attacks from own half and Bruno dictates the final third. Even when Pogba not injured we struggled in final third without specialist no. 10. I really doubt we would have finished 3rd without both of them.

He was absolutely gassed in the last couple of weeks due to Solskjaer's refusal to rest him, he'll be back to being amazing for us next season especially if we sign cover so we aren't as reliant on him to carry us every game.

Hope he'll watch videos of Rui Costa to understand how a playmaker should view the game. Him going for passes that aren't on instead of the ones that are will hurt us in the long run. Decision making is very important for playmakers.
