Opposition fans are so salty. Just can’t stand his output and trying to undermine his achievements by bringing in weird stats that most of this assist are from set pieces and that doesn’t count. Absolutely garbage! Mans a beast!
I don't think they care that much to be honest United rightly or wrongly is still judged as a Big Club and our currency is big trophies and we have been complete non entity in that regard during Bruno''s time here .

Anyone else noticed how he is always coaching players on the court? I've seen him giving players instructions, pointers, guidelines etc, prior, during and after the game.

He loves the game, loves the club and by the looks of it, loves coaching. With his creative mind, he could be a good coach/manager one day.
I have always said one day he’ll be our manager.

I can see later on his career, he becomes a DLP. HE’d probably kill it in serie A or La Liga.

And no: I wont hear any argument ala "if Bruno was better then he'd play for a better team". That is not always how things work in football. It's not that simple.
Thank god, by that logic we should be able to throw the "his numbers would be even more insane in a better team" stuff out of the window as well.

That is not the same logic at all. The two things are not related.
Both are build on questionable logic though - the fact that Bruno wasn't chased by top clubs doesn't automatically mean, they didn't see the value in him. And the fact that Bruno racked up the numbers he did being the central hub of everything at United doesn't mean he'd have way better numbers in a team where he'd be one of multiple players to facilitate stuff. As the user put it: "it's not that simple".

Well one thing we know for certain is that United have struggled to find consistent goal scorers for several seasons. They’ve got some now, and he is on course to break the assist record. Are you saying that he wouldn’t have had more goal contributions with less impotent forwards like Hojlund and Garnacho?

If you're quoting who I think you're quoting, then yes :p

I can accept the argument that Bruno would have to do less carrying in a better team and because of that his numbers might drop. But at the same time, more of his chances would be converted, so that would probably make up for it.

In a better team this would probably be the outcome:

1. He'd create fewer chances, but more of them would be converted

2. He'd be less involved and important to the team, but also make fewer mistakes

On balance I think he'd be equally good, but with a huge potential upside. Even with a 20-30% reduction in chances created I can see him smash the 20 assists record in a better team.

But at the end of the day it's all speculation. I'm just happy that we have this legendary player on our team.

Bruno manages to record crazy numbers while working his ass off. It‘s not like he‘s out there focusing on creating alone. To me, it is scary to think what he could accomplish in a more settled top team.

But feck that, I want him to stay here and win the league with us next season. Let‘s go for it.

Absolutely. He's far more than just one of the greatest creators (ever?).

My point was just that in an elite team he wouldn't be given the sole responsibility to create. That task would be split among other players. This would benefit Bruno too, I think. For instance, I'm pretty sure that De Bruyne had far fewer touches and passes for City, even in his prime.

It‘s possible. It‘s also possible he‘s still the main creator in the top team, but gets more ‚uptime‘ due to the dominating tactics or weaker league.

No way to know how that would pan out, and I don‘t give a feck, I‘m happy we‘ve got him.

As good as Bruno is United have struggled most of the time against set defenses during his stint here with majority of play Going through him , I would pipe down on claim of hailing him as one of the greatest creators ever .

And still Bruno puts up good numbers year after year. Now that he has a good attack in front of him, the numbers are skyrocketing. Long may it continue.

Creator = someone who creates chances. Preferably through a multitude of passes, like crosses, through-balls, long-passes, flicks, one-twos and set pieces etc.

Bruno has been the best in the game at this in the 2020's. When it comes to chances created, this is where he's placed when compared to all players in the top 5 leagues (not just PL):

2020-21: 1st
2021-22: 8th (3rd best in the PL)
2022-23: 1st
2023-24: 1st
2024-25: 3rd (1st in the PL)
2025-26: 1st so far. Big gap down to 2nd.

You can be the best creator without being the best player, you know. Just like you can be the best dribbler, finisher, tackler, shot-stopper etc. In my opinion De Bruyne and Bruno are the best creators in the PL era. Does that mean that I necessarily would rate them more highly than Cantona, Rooney or Lampard? No.

The season where it really was a big problem was last season. The seasons before were relatively average I'd say. I mean, obviously it is always possible to add more and better strikers but even they won't slot every chance away.
They’ve got some now, and he is on course to break the assist record.
And I think he'd be able to maintain such numbers in a better team as well. My point is, his numbers won't automatically go up just because his team mates get better.

Maybe a few more yes, but it most likely wouldn't be a world of difference. during his time here, Bruno played a big chunk with Rashford, who is the perfect partner in crime when it comes to their strength. As I said, better strikers will probably have a different conversion rate - but with better team mates around, there is a chance that opponents would dare even less to have a go and make sure, to not leave any space in behind. And in the recent past, the more successful sides were characterised as rather risk averse. Also something, that certainly can't be said about United for quite some time. And thats my point - our attacking force wasn't great and better players would be expected to slot a few of the chances away that lesser players bottled. But better team mates will also mean that the opposition setups will change, most like towards something where Bruno doesn't thrive as much as with space to hit balls into for fast runners to chase.
It isn't a dig at Bruno. Just pointing out that it doesn't make sense to pick one little aspect in a makebelief scenario and draw conclusions from a small change while not considering which other implications that would have. Bruno would most likely still post good to very good numbers but they wouldn't just go up and up and up.

I feel like he can be a test for potential managers. If the manager says he will play him in any position other than AM under normal circumstances (no injury to other players that need their position to be filled) then we should skip him.

Bournemouth 2:2 Man Utd
Thought he had an excellent game, just seems to always know what to do these days and actually executes it to perfection.

He carried us at times tonight. Feels like he rarely makes the wrong decision on the ball anymore. Definitely matured a lot over the last 12 months.

Probably should have been subbed around 92 mins, not sure what was up but he clearly wasn’t right and lost the ball a few times because of it. Luckily it didn’t cost us.

Great up until then.

We need two cm starters brought in this summer so the new manager isn't even remotely tempted to put him back in a midfield 2 again

Did he get an assist for that?

Excellent again today but he was visibly tired at the end, should have been subbed off.

There is a sudden shift in him, he has become more of a coach to the other players this season. Even in the tunnel at half time could see him talk to Dalot and Cunha (i think). He is playing at his peak and very likely looking he might stay back if we make Champions League.

Also loved his corners today on the back post, they had a terrific dip

I'm going to eat some humble pie. He's played his best football under Carrick (bar maybe a brief spell under Ole when he was unstoppable). I've thought he's been overly praised in the last 2-3 years, been profligate in front of goal, tried too many risky passes within our own box, and just been too erratic to be some sort of main part of a team that is supposed to dominate matches (eventually). I also have numerously criticised the club's decision to extend his contract when he had 3 years running, just to give him the raise he publicly pressurised the club into. And I've also criticised pre-emptively the club doing so again at his age, when he's already earning 300K with plenty of time left on his deal.

That all being said, he's been sensational and he actually looks to have matured and I can only assume his relationship with Carrick is part of that.

I've also made patronising comments about people thinking he's the best player in the league, well, he probably is if this is his new level.

So there. I was, on recent evidence, totally wrong. Long may that continue.

Yeah im prob in that spot too. Think a lot as well is a manager finally realizing Bruno as a deep cm is just a stupid fecking idea

A small thing perhaps, it Bruno’s maturity on the pitch is is remarkable. He still whines over nothing, but when an important referee decision goes against us he handles the situation brilliantly.

PL player of the season should be done deal...but of course the narrative created around him of being 'petulant' and 'moaning' by the press will ensure they hand it to Rice or some other less deserving player.

I was slower than many to warm to him, but he's a magical player.
