Things like this are precisely why he is an excellent captain of the club. Hopefully he's still here for years to come.

I found another freak stat (I haven't fact-checked it):

If we set the cut-off at 100 G+A to avoid short-term superstars, then Bruno has the 2nd best G+A ratio of all time in Manchester United. And that's regardless of whether we divide by apps or minutes played. Only Van Nistelrooy is in front of him.

Of course, the ratio for Giggs, Scholes and Charlton suffer because they stayed for so many seasons. But even if we just go by total numbers then Bruno is already 8th. And if he stays for another season he definitely makes 7th and has a good chance at 6th. But 5th (George Best) is probably out of reach, unless he retires here and keeps up the good work for minimum 2-3 more years before slowing down.

I haven't looked at all the ratio's but here are the G/A stats of Best, Law and Charlton. I have taken only their United careers and not internationals or other clubs.

I don't know how they compare to other United players as I haven't seen the overall table.

Denis Law - 101 goals/assists in 92 games
Bobby Charlton - 101 goals/assists in 114 games
George Best - 100 goals/assists in 156 games (19 years old)

In terms of best seasons:

Denis Law had 60 G/A's in 1963/64 in 42 games
Bobby Charlton had 40 G/A's in 1958/59 in 39 games
George Best had 47 G/A's in 1967/68 in 53 games

In terms of just assists:

Denis Law had 18 in 1971/72
Bobby Charlton had 23 in 1963/64
George Best had 23 in 1964/65

Seasons with double figure assists:

Denis Law - 5/11 with 4 consecutive
Bobby Charlton - 13/17 with 11 consecutive
George Best - 8/11 with 8 consecutive

Still to be confirmed but total goals/assists:

Denis Law - 238/100
Bobby Charlton - 249/203
George Best - 180/139 - he reached 100 goals AND 100 assists in less than 307 games.

Some reports leave out assists so these three players will be missing a handful of assists over their United careers.

Finally, I think Bruno Fernandes is clearly the best player we have had for some time and his statistics are outstanding. The above data is purely as a comparison.

Pretty much home for his children too, that factor always made the Saudi option highly unlikely to me even during the links last summer.

Just hope we manage to get the remainder of his best years with us, would love to finally win the highest honors again with him around. Nobody post-Fergie deserves it more
