The narrative that Bruno has a lot of off days is nonsense, it has been discussed and disproved in this thread.

If there is anyone at MU who knows what needs to be done transfer wise to improve next season, it is Bruno. He‘ll know who doesn‘t have the right attitude or who isn‘t good enough period.

I feel like he has been disappointed more often than not. We have had a lot of transfer windows where we‘ve failed to get obvious upgrades.

That has been my number one criticism since he came to us. He has moments where he does something outrageous in tight space like the assist to Mainoo against City in the FA Cup final or the pass to Goncalo Ramos for Portugal a few weeks ago, but generally I think he struggles against low blocks and in tight space. Not as much as before, he has improved his use of space massively in my opinion. But with time I've learned to appreciate him for the player he is and the strengths he has rather than the player I wanted him to be. Obviously being a David Silva player outside the opposition box would be ideal and crucial if you want to score against low blocks, but that's not who he is, and I have accepted that (as if he needed my acceptance ;) )

It seems like a significant limitation in my view, one that we will need to remove to become a dominant team again.

We sign too many players with this problem in my opinion which leads to scenarios where we can't even draw against teams when we have a one man advantage.

Can you two stop hall monitoring the thread as if there’s one absolute opinion?

There are plenty who share that poster’s view; whether you agree or not, discuss/debate it, but don’t act as if it is to be shut down because you don’t agree with it.

It isn't nonsense. If we're strictly talking about this season, then it would be false, but during his career here, he has had plenty of off days. His game against Spurs in the Europa League final for starters..

Isn't there a rule ala "you can criticize the post, but not the poster"?

I will stop hall monitoring, but I'm curious where the line goes when it comes to exasperation? Exaggerated example, but if I went into a thread and claimed that Sancho is a better player than Messi, then I would fully expect a bunch of exasperated reponses and green laughing emojis.

For me, claiming that Bruno is so problematic that he cannot even feature in a title winning team is a solid 9/10 in terms of wild football takes. But maybe that is a perfectly reasonable take and I'm the odd one out.

The point where you can’t be bothered to engage either way and leave it alone, which is par for the course across the boards regardless of topic.

Fair enough. I'm using the ignore function to avoid these situations, but I can definitely be better at that as well.

Back to the post that sparked all this: I find it reasonable that Bruno demands that the club have high ambitions. We must start challenging for titles soon.

He very rarely scores a 4 or lower on player ratings. That is not ‚plenty of off days‘.

Basically he is one of our most consistent players, who doesn‘t get enough credit (until this season).
 
Why would we extend the deal of a player with 2 years left on his contract, who's 32 in September? Unless of course it was to Maguire him and extend on reduced terms.

The persistence on both sides becomes tiresome. It’s more passable during international breaks, but that’s over now.

FYI the poster I believe you’re referring to has been reprimanded and won’t be around for a couple of days. What I am saying isn’t one-sided and only aimed at you.

My two pence, for as little as it’s worth. I think asking people if they’re related to Bruno is far less constructive than being critical of a post. But I’ll leave it there as it’s not up to me how the forum is moderated, of course.

Wow. He’s just sensational. I’ve run out of words. I think this is his best season for us. His best version. Better than 20/21.

He’s improved as a player. He’s amazing.

He should be a front runner for PFA Player of the Year. No one comes close at the moment.

We are the biggest one man team since the days of Cantona and Robson.
 
He's actually doing everything he humanly can to take over the PR juggernaut that is Rice for that POTY award.... odds are really shifting too. Says it all how good he's been since Carrick moved him straight back into his position.
 
Just immaculate technique this guy has. And it never fails him. He can make any pass anywhere on the pitch.
 
Funny that mccoist midway through comms said 'you know, he has to be in the conversation for player of the year' like it was a thought that had just occurred to him.

Best player in the league this year in my opinion.
