Alright you may have been right, fair enough. It was Bruno himself who rejected those offers, but Amorim made it clear that he doesn't want to sell him this season:" This is the kind of player that we want and he’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him!” https://thepeoplesperson.com/2025/0...r-sale-of-man-uniteds-bruno-fernandes-292478/

I thought that it was Man Utd itself who did it. It was probably like this. Bruno and Amorim were both against his departure from United and therefore INEOs didn't entertain the offer from the Saudis. They respected the wishes of Bruno and Amorim and fair enough. My problem is that Bruno is playing out of position and doesn't really fit the system. Amorim needs to find a solution for him because I don't really think that he's good as a number 6.

He usually thrives as a number 10 but we already bought two number tens in Cunha and Mbeumo. We desperately need to buy a central midfielder, possibly even two (Baleba or Wharton most likely).

My argument was that we could've sold Bruno for 120 million and used that money to buy someone like Baleba. Where do you see us playing Bruno if we buy someone like Baleba and Amorim stays. That's the biggest question mark. Where does Bruno actually play in Amorim's system?

Talksport article about Bruno's Saudi transfer bids that failed: https://talksport.com/football/prem...nsfer-cristiano-ronaldo-saudi-arabia-man-utd/

If the player doesn't want to go, what difference does it make? Did you remember FDJ? where our offer got accepted but the player didn't want to come? Clubs dont want to be in that scenario.

I agree on the principle though, 100m for Bruno would be amazing for us this summer, there are more question marks than answers with him.

There are various reasons Amorim says what he does in his press conferences, he backs his players, look at the players he has openly backed and let go? Garnacho, Onana, Hojlund ?

Whilst people say he is out of position, when Bruno came, his former manager stated he is a 8. I know its a poor example... Grimbsy game we were poor and Bruno came on and gave us control. We lack a 6.. which is important but Bruno with a 6 would be good in that position.

I know Baleba is on everyones lips but have you seen any of his games this season? he has been poor so far, being regularly substituted by Brighton.

Nah. Extension, babyyyyy!
I hope you're right. I can't imagine how joyless these past few years would have been had he not been here. He is our best player and he is showing no signs of declining, so why sell him?

I also think his behaviour as a captain off-the-pitch is underappreciated on the caf. We've had our fair share of bad apples over the years: spoilt brats with half the ability of Bruno and twice the ego with their outbursts on social media. Bruno, in comparison, leads by example. You never hear a peep out of him off the pitch.

He’d have a lot more assist if he was at city/liverpool.
He'd be the leader in Europe's top leagues and the Champions League if he had been on more serious sides.

That's why I wouldn't feel great if he were pushed out of the club beyond his own accord. He's been legitimately world class during his prime and really has stuck through quite a lot of shite in an age where stars can move whenever they feel like.

Even if he became deadwood eventually, I'd still rather let him leave on his own terms.

Absolutely. I agree. He’s bailed us out so many times and we’re lucky to have him. We all know he deserves better than we’ve give him the past few seasons. Luckily for us he loves the club and our fans. Rejected millions from saudi to stay and he wants to help us compete

Turns 31 today but the man is a machine and we are incredibly lucky to have him. There is a good chance that we would have been relegated without him, last season.

He is capable of playing deep into his 30s and can be absolutely elite around sesko, cunha and mbuemo, provided we don't burden him with midfield responsibility and running around

The best player in this team since SAF retired. Truly amazing he's still here. I hope he has at least two, or better yet 3 seasons in him.

He’s an amazing player, he needs to be played behind the striker with good midfielders behind him.

This cannot be stressed enough. He could've moved to any club in the world.

A class apart.

The graph using absolute numbers massively skews it towards availability/time on the pitch. Hence Salah having about as many ball recoveries as Casemiro despite never really doing any defending.

Bruno stats for both are going to be very impressive either way, though.

Man City 3:0 Man Utd
Atrocious. Let him ride out the next few games and Statman David will find some Opta facts about his chance creation stats in isolation that illustrate why we cannot critically assess him

How predictable is it that we'll regret not telling him to leave and pocketing £100m?

It wouldn't be like us to make the wrong decision would it

Bruno has made it the dumbest stat in football.

We would’ve been far better off taking the Saudi money and getting Baleba or a couple of top midfielders. Feels like the RVN moment, where we sold him to facilitate a new system with Rooney and Ronaldo. Only this time the sentimentality got the better of us, Fergie knew what to do.

Doesn't fit the 10s in this system and is a complete liability when played deeper

Looking forward to seeing this for the rest of the season because we all know he won't be dropped or subbed ever

He is a disaster at cm. Was so fecking painfully obvious after last season. Can't wait to see what key stat says don't worry about fecking playing your position properly

Braindead idea to have him as our main CM. Amorim shot himself in the foot with this one.

No shit. Was painfully obvious.

I said it when it was reported. So many people were supportive of it which was bizarre.

I have never hated a United player more than him. He is holding us back so so much. He's obviously not the worst player we've had recently, but why does he have to play EVERY game?!

Bruno being anonymous playing in a midfield 2 against a top PL team?

Boy who could have seen that coming.

I don't think anyone outside of the manager genuinely believed that Bruno is up to playing in a midfield two in this league consistently.

Fed up with him. I presume the Saudi transfer window is closed. The decision to keep him has cost us £100 million and almost certainly Europe, and Amorim’s job.

He is a terrible captain.
I love Bruno, but you are right. He has very little presence when things are not working out, and he is not able to create a siege mentality at all. His whining is an issue as well, especially as it tends to happen in games where he disappears.

He was atrocious on the ball, but that first goal, he was with Foden then just let him go. Stopped. Then when it was a goal, he threw his hands looking for somebody to blame. Pahhh
