I like the way he played today with taking care of the ball and not being sloppy. He'd been so wasteful throughout this pre season but this game he's shown he can actually take care of the ball and be opportunistic in his risky passes. This is the version I want to see if he is to play as a CM.

Absolutely agree

Despite not scoring I thought today was his best pre season performance. Looked after the ball, tracked back and still created some chances for us and looked very good

Still baffles me how people wanted to sell him, top player.

He's so frustrating. A player of his caliber needs to stop losing the ball in sensitive areas. Happens so frequently with him and it's always costly.

We will never be a top side with him in CM. One midfielder alone won't be able to fix the holes we have due to him. Case did all he could but with Bruno in midfield he is gassed after 60 mins

We doing lots of exciting interplay and then suddenly Bruno opts for the hero ball. Not fit for this system at all, especially against top sides

Not taking that £100m offer will dangle over our heads like the sword of Damocles all season

Sell him and buy Belaba and Wharton

He is not a central midfielder and never will be one. Ever. I do not understand how anyone can look at him and think the opposite. It's asking for trouble trying to make it work.

At least 3 or 4 times he has done that and taken the sting out of the game when we were well on top.

He is and will always be a mid table superstar, his 5 mins of fantastic hides the 85 mins of rubbish only when we are complete crap for 85 mins. When others play at a great level, it is clear he is a very inconsistent player who doesn't deserve to be this important for any team wanting to win trophies and compete for the league.

People can pretend it's him being asked to play cm that is the problem, but his inability to make 5 yard passes with consistency or his habit of coughing up the ball under absolutely no pressure has nothing to do with where he plays, he does that consistently in and around opposition's penalty box just as much as in and around our penalty box.

Silly corner to concede when he knows that’s the only way Arsenal can score. Teammates keep passing him the ball when he’s demanding it, even though there are players in better positions.

For as long as we continue to play this formation, he will haunt us every single time this season.

That goal was on him. He is not a CM but we all know Amorim will play him no matter what. We have better players now so there’s no excuse. If he keeps playing him CM then Amorim deserves the sack.

What to say? Shocking, absolutely shocking. Led to the possesion loss for the corner, relieved pressure by giving the ball away at the worse possible time, he was every negative stereotype of himself today and our worst player.

Some good stuff but he's just brainless playing the Hollywood ball and ruining all our momentum.

Insane how so many were against selling. In fact, I got some pelters for saying it was a no-brainer.

We'll do this shit all season, then have the odd game were one of his quarterback hail-mary's pays off and you'll be hearing stuff like "world class"

So hot and cold. Does something brilliant and then does two or three terrible things.

His attempted Hollywood balls killed numerous good passages of play today. Also why he decided to lump the ball long when we showed more promise with shorter sharper passing in the final third at the very end.

Yeah it's early still but we've seen this story with him at CM. There will be the moments he does something but long term just not great

To turn down 100m from Saudi for a player who's 30 and doesn't even fit the system is mind boggling

Hes got the patience of a toddler.

And here I thought having someone else like Mbeumo and Cunha to relief him of the creative pressure would make him focus on doing centre midfield things, focus and cut out stupid mistakes in his game.

Physicality, press resistance, ball carrying ability. In a contested midfield battle in PL at least 2 out of 3 are must for a midfielder in PL. Bruno lacks all 3. Great if he gets space but otherwise ineffective. The club and the player both have to move on.

Somehow every manager seems to think its mandatory to give him 90 minutes. Made terrible mistakes at the worst times with no real postive contribution to remember.

At the time, I said we would be mad to turn the money down. Posters said I was crazy. We will regret it.

Agree. I think we'll really regret it although did he really want to go to Saudi Arabia? Seemed to me he wasn't fully keen on it. But either way, I wanted him sold before the season and just don't think he's part of the vision under Amiron.

I said he wasn’t a central midfielder which upset many here. I prefer Mainoo there instead.

Ahh right, so Bruno is this season’s player to beat down because he didn’t want to move to Saudi fecking Arabia and fund the transfer of someone none of us knew the club even wanted at the time.

May be an early mute for me, this thread.

posted after last season ended, united will regret not selling a 31yo for 100m in the summer. He can't play in a midfield two. He is okay in number 10 but with so many quality 10s signed, why not move him during the summer? First goal was his sloppy passed forcing a corner. What annoy me is he taking all the setpieces, come on, gave chance to cunha or mbeumo. His corner was terrible. amorim will lose his job if he keep playing bruno in midfield two, mark this post.

After every match there's going to be someone who reminds us that we should have accepted 100million.

It's not new news.

It didn't happen, it was a bad decision we didn't accept but we don't need constant reminders.

Bruno Fernandes isn't asking to play as a CM, it's Amorim who is playing him as a CM.

If Amorim wants to fit him in then play him instead of Mount in our first half formation.

Bruno is going to be the main target this season. Ugarte has already lost the fanbase.

He has a main character syndrome. We had at least 3 better set-piece takers than him and took all of them bar one.

With two AMs added, this was the perfect time to sell him and move on
