Bruno Fernandes | 2026/27 Performances

Bruno’s natural role is Second Striker. He is not classic 10: doesn’t like tight spaces, no outstanding dribbling, doesn’t like to keep the ball. Whenever he drops closer to MF he plays worse. As a Second Striker he is one of the best players in the world.

Bruno is the problem!
He's good today as he produced at a home game against championship side.

Needs to produce in away games too this season, let's see how close to midfield he will play next.

Also I am too lazy to do that but someone should create a thread: "We need to buy the next Bruno".

Seriously we need to get one of those gems from lower leagues who is a captain and of his ability as PL became too expensive and hire in his position. There will be a momnet when he gets injured or out of form or start to age like Rooney did, he's played so many games that this is inevitable. Maybe at some point he will drop deeper who knows but we need someone like that more than anyone else.

1. Ipswich are a Premier League side.
2. He is good because he won very f*cking domestic players award he was nominated for this summer!

Thanks for reminding me. They will get relegated though, the point is there still.

Not sure what the second point means. I never said he aint good.

Last week‘s takes:

But honest to god I can’t stand another season of Bruno. His game management is so shit.

He is antithetical to modern football. Nobody successful plays with a player like him. Like you said the top teams play as a collective. They can keep the ball for fun. He can't keep the ball if his life depended on it.

When the chips are down, he’s consistently one of the worst players in the pitch.

Last summer, I said we cannot do a proper midfield rebuild with Bruno around and I was called all sorts.

If we want to evolve as a team with an actual deliberate style of play, then unfortunately it’s hard to see exactly how Bruno fits in the longer term

I really think we need to sell him immediately, he could have a great pay day and we can start trying to become a top team again- might be waiting a while but this Bruno centric approach just won’t get us there.

He was alright today wasn‘t he? Oh let me guess, it was at home against a championship side.

That first goal was class. Amazing to place it that well moving full speed.

It was at home against a relegation favorite and he was shite last week. 1/10 last week and 10/10 this week. Let's not pretend we haven't seen the guy put in horrific performances followed by great ones before.

World class players do world class things.

Football writers agree.
Opposition footballers agree.
Utd Teammates agree.
Sensible Utd fans agree.

Any person debating it now is just desperately clinging onto a narrative to feel unique and special. It's boring and not worth addressing.

Doesn't excuse the fact that your take was shite... antithetical to modern football, the premier league's highest assist record holder and most likely our best player post Fergie error.
Give you heads a wobble...

I mean not that he has not been proving in the past 5 years that he is a class player for us. Not like we just signed him this season while he was a key player in teams like Brighton or Nottingham Forest F.C. And he usually starts slow.

Its wasnt despite it being an unpopular take, you wont find a single successful team with Bruno Like player as pivotal member .
In fact I posted Stats dissecting Bruno impact by comparing our PL results pre and post Bruno's arrival Post Sir Alex's Retirement it really didnt paint a great picture .

Come back when he actually leads a team to a big trophy and I'll admit I was wrong.

He's been crap for plenty of games during those 5 years as well, sometimes for months in a row.

Yeah KdB wasn't Bruno like player at all and we all know City were shit with him playing.

Hard to find 2 similar players than Kdb and Bruno.

Muller was very successful with Bayern.

Teams success doesn't depend on whether team plays Bruno like player, it depends on manager and quality of squad

So we had shit teams all across Bruno's tenure . Below is my earlier post in this thread not many replied to it may be you can try explaining it my conclusion was Bruno numbers may be great but it hardly moved needle for us while creating lack of balance which we simply cant overcome.

This is post Sir Alex's Retirement our goal tally with and without Bruno is more or less same at 60 goals average in PL ,while our defense which conceded on average 37 goals a season rocketed upto 48 goals on average with Bruno in the side .

While our Average points total seasons preceding his arrival was around 69 it dropped by almost 10% to 63 in PL .

Well every players have had plenty of crap games even if they are key players for their teams. But the difference is that you won't notice much if you have a quality team as other players will carry on. He does not usually have that kind of luxury here for the past few seasons so the team performing badly is more visible.

So teams won shit loads with Bruno like player in their team.

I don't know what any of that stat supposed to tell, completely ignoring the shit managers we hired and how poor our squad was.

Use the same logic for Robson and see how silly the argument is.

So no response resorting to whataboutery absolving Bruno of any blame got it typical Bruno fans behavior . And no Kdb and Muller arent similar players to Bruno .

If you think Kdb isn't similar to Bruno then you should give up football, going by your posts you probably did and follow some x account to form an opinion.

Dumb stupid comment as usual , I am not someone who goes looking for posters post history but If I do I am certain I can come up with your post coming to same conclusion more or less unless you have deleted it , I distinctly remember you did post something to same effect .

What nonsense is this

Somehow i remember you posting only nonsense and stupid takes consistently, which is not surprising tbh, if that's the post you think is a jewel, and that you uncovered some magical shit. Same post which falls flat with simple question, which makes you lose your shit and calling Bruno "fanboys".

Oh look, before Bruno it was this PPG, after Bruno it's XYZ PPG, completely ignoring the quality of managers for both ManUtd and rivals, quality of league before and after. Somehow you champion yourself as some analytical poster with hot takes

Edit: no 2 players can be 100% similar but KdB and Bruno are as similar as 2 players can be in play style, only reason to deny it is to defend the dumb point made to have a go at Bruno.

Cant argue with proper reasoning so resort to Personal insults so no point in continuing this , but just one question do you believe we now have a good team and coach , what are your expectations for PL and CL . How Many Goals we would concede in PL .

Just put it out here and Let's revisit it at the end of the season and we would find out how good judge of football and footballer you are .
Maybe my takes are completely stupid and i don't understand football at all , but you seem to to so sure of yourself and knowledgble make a prediction .

That finish on the first goal with his left foot was fantastic.
A true striker's move.

When your go-to argument is "typical Bruno fans" then expect others to respond in similar way.

How is "how many goals we concede" related to Bruno, who is playing closer to striker? Are you expecting him to clean up and clear the ball from defensive third?

Is Bruno responsible for Shaw losing the winger, Licha losing possession which lead to goal or us conceding twice from Set piece against hull. That's 4 goals in 2 games, as per your stats, this means Bruno makes team defensively shit because that 2 goals per game, 76 goals conceded per season.

Predicting how many goals we score or how many we concede has nothing to do with understanding football, how many we concede depends on how we will set up, whether we play deeper defensive line to give up attacking potent or go higher line to give away defensive solidity to gain attacking advantage.

First time I'm seeing someone using goals conceded to have a go at attacking player, new levels unlocked to play down Bruno's quality.

Just wanted to check, did you spend even a min to consider that we went from peak De Gea before Bruno to washed up De Gea followed by Onana which lead to lot of goals conceded? Or was it unnecessary as that might give context to stats which makes entire thing fall flat and we can just call it was excuse to defend Bruno

Its about the balance which we seem to lack with only Constant being Bruno , we can keep ignoring it and continue to blame everything and everyone else absolving Bruno of any blame or maybe we can Start looking past numbers and evolve into a team that eventually competes and wins bigger prizes .

All theory, nothing close to reality. Again, use Robson example but that will be whataboutery, lets ignore what changed, how much as a club and playing squad declined, lets blame the best player in PL because he was the constant, blame him for the things he is not even responsible for.

Yeah RvP great obviously but was really a one season thing.

De Gea maybe but I thought his last few years were absolutely awful for us. So many mistakes.

To me you have to go back to Vidic/Evra era for a real contender to the best signing award.
Yeah, I agree with this. Saw Tevez mentioned above, but clearly not. Evra and Vidic are probably still ahead because of how many titles they both secured. Vidic also won POTY, and Evra was regarded as the best LB in the world for a couple of seasons, and there were a few good left backs around at the time.

RvP for his one season, but Bruno is ahead as a player, almost even for his top level and certainly for consistency over time.

He will most likely never go down the Rooney route as their physiques are so different. He's more of a Modric type, so he can most likely go deep into his 30s and still be world class if he takes care of himself and avoids major injuries. Rooney was completely done at his age.

He’s a fantastic player but we have to ask ourselves serious questions about his limitations and how we move forward considering those limitations.
Chips were down yesterday..

Decent enough. Certainly better than anything he showed in his last full year with us.

Just needs to cut the sloppy play out. Unnecessary give aways from such an experienced player.

Didn't the breakaway with Enciso come from Rashford playing a silly sort of pass?
