Would love this player. Anyone reckon we will actually sign him?
I think there is obvious and real interest but I think United only go for him if Pogba leaves though I could be wrong.

Yeah this is the feeling I get, too.

You never know though, maybe we're wanting another creative midfielder to take the pressure off Pogba.

I'd hope so. If we keep Pogba he doesn't fit into the team, imo. We need a DM and a deep lying playmaker who can contribute in defense and take some of the creative burden off Pogba. Bruno doesn't excel at either of these roles so, hopefully, we're smart and aim for a couple of CMs who compliment Pogba (if we keep him).
Long range ability is all well and good. But is his close control/dribbling brilliant? Don't need more squad options who aren't excellent in this regard
He's not a Iniesta/Isco/D.Silva/Arthur type of CM who can resist pressing players with excellent shielding of the ball if that's what you mean. It's why I wouldn't opt for him either - we need a CM in that mould more than this guy. Unless Pogba leaves.

Sadly this guy just joined Milan but..United should have got Paqueta. That kid has world class potential and. his close control and touch is fantastic.

I agree. We don't need someone in that position who isn't brilliant in terms of close control and ability in tight spaces.

It seems a pretty obvious area we can improve on, the fall off when Pogba isn't in the team is huge. We need a proper attacking midfielder who can score.

There seems to be a lot of noise which was similar to the Lindelof transfer, but who knows? It looks like the sort of signing we should be making.

Yeah, I watch Milan here and there, and I have seen Paqueta quite a bit. He's quite the talent!

He has a problem similar to Pogba, though, in that - when he's shielding the ball - he lets the ball go too loose instead of keeping it under close control like the players above mention would, and, despite holding off the player with good strength, the opposition player can often nick it away. It'd be very risky having Pogba and Paqueta in midfield like that because they often keep hold of the ball too long and end up being dispossessed. I'd rather a Banega type who always keeps the ball close to him.

Seen a lot of comments that he can’t play Pogba on the team. I know this is just wishful thinking but my transfer wishlist which includes Bruno Rabiot and Neves will have these midfielders playing in a diamond

................................Neves...............................

....................Rabiot..................Pogba.................

..............................Fernandes.............................

What do you guys make of this midfield.....could this work

We need him to take some of the creativity pressure off Pogba, shouldn't have to sell Paul in order to sign him

I would replace Fernandes with Joao Felix.....

With the resurgence of McTominay and Fred who've "played well" against a poor Barcelona side will prevent us from buying 2 midfielders... let alone 3. Joao Felix would be good addition for the outgoing Mata. I don't see us getting Neves and Rabiot is probably Madrid bound. Fernandes could be possibly done.

I'm sorry but what was 'poor' about that Barca side? Their bench had more quality than our starting 11

I like Felix but we have a lot of holes to fill in the squad and so we can't afford to spend 60-100 million on this kid.

Great video and probably the best one on YouTube showcasing his ability (until Scout Nation inevitably does one).

His Goals and technical ability on full display.

He does look really impressive but my biggest take away from this video is jeez the defending in the Portuguese league looks laughable. If we had moments of defending like that at United lynch mobs would be out in the street.

That skip before the penalty though? And I love that goal against Benfica I think it is where he smashes it back across the goal. How is he in actual slower moments of the game? as all these videos only every really seem to show him when it’s at full tilt attacking.

He's so fond of the pirouette. Love it when midfielders have the confidence & ability to pull that stuff off.

Can't wait to see him try it against Kante, Gueye, Fernandinho, Capoue, Ndidi, etc

What's his penalty record because that technique is bonkers  it's like an exaggerated version of Hazards.

We should buy him just to get Rashford of free kicks, we will be getting at least another 5 goals a season right there.

What you see is what you get he is a player capable of making goal scoring opportunities both for his teammates and for himself. His technical ability is great and allows him to get out of tight situations as shown in the video.

Also about the defending part its worth noting we are a very defensive league and not many games have a lot of goals in them unlike say the dutch league for example.

I felt out of all the videos out there this one was the most well put together.

Didn’t even know he could do that. Looked like Jardel. Seems like everything he touches turns into goals at the moment.

Once a player goes on a goalscoring streak like this, the confidence in the finishing goes up and the goals increase too, it’s like a snowball rolling down a mountain. Needs to last until the cup final.

Im in, get the lad signed. He looks quality, he's done the moving abroad thing before so should be easier 2nd time round, scores all sorts of goals, creates goals, dead ball specialist, pretty 2 footed and from what people on here who'v seen more of him than me say, got a good workrate aswel.

So what if its just the Portugese league, some work out, some dont, which is the case for players from every league, even La Liga (DiMaria) and the Premier (Sanchez)

I don't believe we need to get rid of Pogba to bring in Fernandes. He could be the perfect fit for Pogba. We certainly need more creativity in our attacking midfield area.

I agree, just from yesterdays formation he could play Mata's role, offer loads more threat with the ball and loads more workrate without the ball. Obviously this would require a much more natural DM than Fred but Fernandes and Pogba in the same 11 can work imo.

From what I have seen he is a no brainer for us really. Good in tight spaces, great shot and passing and brilliant at set pieces. Could release Pogba and replace Mata. We should get him as he is available. Get Navas in for Matic and we could field a fantasticly skillful midfield with a out of this world passing and shooting range. Sell Matic, Rojo, Jones and Lingard. Even Martial should be on that list, that could get us around 150 millions. Get Alderweireld, Sancho, Fernandes, Navas and a RB.. Even adding another RW would be a nice window that would be in the region of 250m. Would love to see Ole go that direction. But that aint never going to happen.

How is his defensive work rate? Is he good at pressing? Is he a terrier type who will put in the yards out of possession to get it back?
Yes. He works his ass off for the team, will be the player to run the most on the team more often than not.

He's a midfielder more suited to a counterattacking style of play rather than being a Barcelona type player.

Why did he not leave the club like the others when the training pitch invasion happened?

If we do want Rice then this guy seems the almost perfect signing seeing as though he plays a kind of advanced RCM position. Rice sitting with Pogba playing the hybrid no 10 LCM position and this guy playing the hybrid no 10 RCM position like City do with Silva + De bruyne. It could be reminiscent to the great Chelsea Lampard (Fernandes) Essien (Pogba) Makelele (Rice) midfield given a year or two given their ages.

Throw in a RB and RW and those four Signings would see us fit to go for another season.

@PremLeaguePanel: Sporting Lisbon and Portugal’s Bruno Fernandes has tonight broken Frank Lampard's European midfielder goalscoring record with his 28th goal in all competitions (in 47 games). On top of that, he also has 15 assists

I've only seen youtube clips but most of his goals and assists didn't seem to be from counter attacks. Do you mean he is quite direct with his play, instead of keeping possession?

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. He's scored quite a few from counters though, more so when Jesus as manager.
