Arsenal will take some stopping. If he remains fit, he will be their best player and will be the first name on that teamsheet. He will bring some character to a nervous squad. Arsenal never replaced the Xhaka type leader. They have now.

We should have gone for him, and given them Rashford who doesn't even want to be at Manchester United.

What makes you think Rashford would've even considered Newcastle?
 
When it comes into football transfers surely all agreements must be total.....

Had to look who they bought. It's a bunch of potential talent further down the line. Very different Newcastle team from 2 years ago.

Bruno is an excellent midfielder, one of the best in the league and probably bordering on world-class. Not only that, but he’s joining the best side in the league surrounded by a superb midfield. I’d be shocked if this isn’t a big hit for Arsenal.

In this market, this signing represents far better value for money than Rogers, Anderson, Fernandes, Tonali, etc, irrespective of age.

It’s still an absurd fee for a player who turns 29 in November. You don't see many deals like this for someone with only two years left on his contract. It's a very high price. I don't know why Chelsea is being brought into this—we're talking about Bruno, Newcastle, and Arsenal.
 
Lyon will get £6-£7m, Newcastle will receive £68-£69m

Newcastle getting something around 57m after the sell on clause makes this transfer a huge L for them.

This comments always make me chuckle. Just because it’s not being reported, doesn’t mean no other teams showed interest. I’d say it’s almost a certainty Arsenal weren’t the only ones in for him, that’s simply logical.
 
Good signing for Arsenal, but I'm cool with it, because I dont think he would have chosen us over reigning title holders.

I dont think his age is a problem either, because one of our targets is Sander Berge, around the same age group. Tielemans is about there too. Probably more to do with price than age for INEOS. Pretty sure the whole "wont buy anyone over 26" thing was just media bs
 
Good price in the current market, improves and already very good side reeks of an old school SAF signing, grabbing a rival clubs best player.
 
It's a good deal for everyone involved. Arsenals window to win the CL is in the next 2-3 seasons, so the fact that he's 29 should be irrelevant to them.
 
Decent fee for all involved I think. Newcastle get a decent chunk of money and we're paying for a very good player in their prime years. People want to mention his age but this isn't a signing for the future, this is a signing for now and the next 2/3 years. Very happy with it.
 
Decent fee on both sides, the sell on Newcastle lose to Lyon is a bit of a killer though.

Been inevitable for about a month so not going to whinge.

Considerung Andersons inflated fee, I´d say that is the most impactful transfer of the window so far.
 
Big money for a player of that age, but Arsenal are the team it makes most sense for.

All they care about is the short term, because the short-term for them means winning PLs/CLs with the relatively young PL-winning, CL-finalists squad they already have.

For Newcastle though, losing all of Gordon, Tonali, Howe and now Bruno G in one transfer window is pretty massive. Especially when they've so badly struggled to sign their main targets in recent times. If you were a Newcastle fan, you wouldn't exactly be feeling optimistic.

We have a few we're trying to get rid of. Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson, Gabriel Jesus and possibly Ethan Nwaneri (although I hope we do give him another chance).

Tielemans fee was half of what he’s cost Arsenal though, paying 75 million for a near 29 year old is a risky transfer.
 
Funny how every Newcastle journos had no clue about what was happening the whole time.
Spent weeks saying there was no contact, no bid or it will be 90M minimum. The no bonuses part is weird since we're buying him to win stuff now, you'd think this would be easy money on top.

If he performs well for 3-4 years wins them a few more league titles and gets them over the line in the Champions League then it’s money well spent.

I like Tielemens but Bruno G is a much better player than him imo.
 
Good player and good signing. Hopefully they don’t sign a top tier attacker too.

Only thing that would prevent them from being far and away favourites for next season I think is depending on how crocked Saliba/Saka/Rice are. That, and whether City retain Rodri

They'll be perfect signings for the INEOS led Manchester United. They must come for the right price of course.

Weren’t they a laughing stock for over two decades up until winning the title last season? And even then rival fans were laughing at them.

Rashford wouldn't want to go to Newcastle, and Bruno G specifically forced the move because he wants to spend the last years of his prime competing for the top titles. We're not at that stage yet. His move to Arsenal is basically the same as when RVP left them to join us.

It's almost certain that other teams (whether us or not I'm not so sure) did touch base with him and his agent, and the reason why no other team went further than that is because he saw Arsenal as his preferred option. Maybe if a Barca, Real, Bayern or PSG went for him that may have changed, but put yourself in his shoes and there's no reason to think he'd choose anyone else over the current PL champions and CL finalists. We would have just been wasting our time and making ourselves look silly when he publicly picks them over us.
