Buzzing to see him on the tour, him and Amad on the right is going to be a nightmare for defenders

I'll stand by my prediction that he will prove nowhere near good enough to justify the transfer fee.

I genuinely do hope I'm wrong. I have higher hopes for Cunha but what do I know.

4 replies for some negativity in s brand new players performance thread. Got to be a record

Reckon he will be a cracking signing. Don't think he will score as many as last year, but his effort and work rate will be a huge hit.

Really excited about having him. Think his pace and athleticism will definitely help our attack.

Question for everyone who’s watched him more than I have.

If we don’t sign a striker, is Mbeumo capable of playing up top? We know he has the pace to get in behind. And an eye for goal. Maybe something we want to experiment with?

It will also allow Amad / Bruno to play as the other 10. Probably Amad. As Bruno will end up in a midfield two (something that has me very worried about the next season as we havent managed to sign a high energy athletic defensive minded midfielder).

He has played 7 games last year centrally either as a CF or a shadow / second striker. Scored 4 goals I believe.
He has played probs 70-80 games as a forward throughout his career if transfermarkt is accurate. It’s not his natural position. He is 1.70 and I guess not ideal for that role as a lone striker.

Amad isn’t playing as a 10. Cunha, Bruno, Mbuemo, ZZ and Mount are our 10s. Bruno might play as a CM. ZZ and Cunha can play forwards. Have a feeling we will see Cunha at the front not Mbuemo but I could be wrong.

Can’t wait to see him tomorrow night, also Cunha having a little rest midweek means they could/should both be starting together.

Exciting times!

Same here! I went to the Chicago game, and would have loved to see them both, but I am very excited to see Mbeumo, hopefully Cunha too!

Definitely thought I saw somewhat of a pot belly when he was waiting to take that free kick.
That's just him. As one twitter user put it "his weight as never been a problem. But watch when he signs for United, they'll be writing articles about it."

He definitely doesn't look fully fit yet, which is to be expected given that he's missed half of preseason.

He'll be monstrous for us when he is fully fit, hopefully he'll be ready for the start of the season.

My first thought when we were linked to him : got an Eden Hazard physique, good for turning and changing direction quickly as he dribbles.

There are a lot of middle aged blokes reading this thread wishing they had a flabby pot belly like Mbeumo

Yeah he was alright, overcomplicated it a couple of times but his touch looked spot on and played a couple of slick passes.

Pros: Passing through the lines

Cons: Struggled to hold the ball

Still early days for him. He needs to get his fitness up

He looked good. Hopefully gets enough conditioning in to start vs Arsenal.

Hard to judge tonight as we played without a genuine striker and mostly struggled - and Mbeumo looked understandably short of match fitness and sharpness.

Good to see him get a half under his belt, and hopefully we'll get a better idea of the potential of him and Cunha linking up in the Fiorentina game.

I kinda thought he looked a bit robust prematch as well. But he was a real livewire. Exciting player.

Wonder if people would be talking about his weight if he’d scored a goal tonight? He banged in 20 goals last season with the same build. This fan base man…

He has visible abs in that photo ffs. And any United fan who has ever seen peak Wayne Rooney with his shirt off knows that a footballer does not necessarily need visible abs to be athletic.
