Good comeback
I don’t think a right inside forward actually needs to be able to constantly ‘beat his man’ to be effective at the top level. He’s not that type of player, and that’s fine. It’s about overall balance in the team. He is fast, strong, technically sound, and a ruthless finisher. Salah was never a tricky winger and he has been the best wide attacker in the league for many a year.

Mbeumo was awful prior to AFCON. Since returning, he’s scored 3,goals and assisted twice.
Agreed that Mbuemo provides plenty despite not being the “tricky winger” type. However the comparison to Salah is not fair as Salah is actually very good and beating his FB with tricks and feints. You don’t become one of the best players in the world just by being fast and a good finisher.

Dont know why he didnt shoot when he had the chance on the edge of the box in the first half. Quiet game, our most quiet attacker and Amad probably did enough from the bench to warrant starting instead next game

Mbeumo should not start the next game. He offers nothing. Amad in +15mns created far more danger. Amad can take on players and at least tries to shoot on goal when he gets the chance. Cunha is the same. Mbeumo NEVER tries to beat the player in front of him and is unselfish to a fault. I have never seen him attempt a shot on goal. He is a liability for the team at the moment. I feel he has lost a lot of confidence from his Brentford days. I also notice his team mates dont look for him even when he makes those runs denoting a lack of trust. Front 3 next game should be Amad Sesko Cunha.

He's the type of player who needs to score to justify starting because his general play is so bad.

Quiet game for Mbeumo. Not even close to being poor, but neither did he be the menace we’ve seen him be since Carrick took the helm.

He's a dangerous player in transition, but don't think he offers enough when the play is in front of him.
Would drop him the next game to be honest. There's not a lot between our 4 front 3 options, so it's fair to rotate based on form and who fits in the game. Amad, Sesko and Cunha is a good trio for Newcastle IMO

His all-round game isn’t good. With Sesko and Bruno being played higher up the pitch, we could do with more of a creative wide forward / winger who is better at breaking down low blocks.

If it's a straight choice between Mbeumo and Amad then Amad wins hands down for me. He's just far more creative and his close control of the ball technically is on a different level.

Mbeumo was really poor and seemed slow and without energy. I still doubt he will be dropped though
I agree with the general consensus, he has been very poor lately and his goals have been masking his performances which were very ordinary. Amad just brings more to the table in terms of ability to run at opposition and create chances. Hope he is dropped against Newcastle as we would need the height of Sesko and trickery of Amad, Cunha also had a better game than him so deserves to continue.
He looks gassed out to me which I don’t get as we are playing, at max, one game per week. It might be a hangover from AFCON, but I’m not so sure.

He should not be an automatic starter. Great energy but his overall skillset just isn't enough if we want to compete. Struggles to open locked defenses and Amad is so much better against those.
He’s one of those players though that you kind of have to start because of his quality and ability to finish. Even though I’d agree he’s been a little out of form lately, he still did well to assist for Sesko’s goal vs Everton, and if he can pick it up and turn to face goal you know there’s a chance he could score
Sesko has to start from now on though. Whether that means Amad on the right or Mbeumo means a bit less to me now
Hasn't been good for a while now, odd exception aside. But he's kept on providing crucial goal contributions. Might need to be rotated out for Amad.

His first touch has gone off the boil in the last few months. Takes him ages to control the ball.

What the feck has happened to his touch. It was his standout quality in his first few months here. Every time he receives the ball and tries to go inside he loses the ball. Absolutely shocking finish as well that ended up costing us.
Did Amad even touch the ball?
He's basically Lukaku. A net negative on the pitch unless he gets a goal or assist.
Just not a top level player. Perfect for Brentford but just hasnt the composure for a top 4 team.
