We played 3 days before, and Casemiro was on for 90'. We needed him more against Newcastle and he only lasted 60'.
Mazraoui looked a bit ropey because he never plays despite being available for a long time.
Mbuemo played 86' vs CP, and Amad coming for him was lively. They could've swapped for this game. Amad is also better defensively and Mbuemo was hardly putting any crosses in for Sesko anyway.

There were options. Not the best, but squad rotation isn't "necessary" thing, but I feel a good manager would utilize his squad a bit better than Carrick.
Carrick has lost just one game...with several late goals in the mix...seems to me like he's used the squad pretty well so far

I was saying a while ago that I suspect that both Mbeumo and Cunha will be out of our first choice XI within two years.

Cunha isn’t a winger, and now that Amorim ball is done, and us targeting left wingers - it is not an unimaginable scenario where an alternative option is quickly considered more suitable. He’s not exactly putting up extraordinary numbers, any winger who comes in and can provide width, take on full backs and get a few goals will quickly present a real challenge to his place.

As for Mbeumo, we already have Amad who offers many of the qualities we probably prefer, with Mbeumo only in the team due to superior goal output. Amad is only 23, and got 10 goals himself last season (a season in which he was injured for months too). If he can get his output into double figures, then I think he takes Mbeumo in a straight fight due to the rest of his game being better.

I don’t think it’s difficult to foresee a situation in the not too distant future where both players are regularly subs.

He has been hardly using his squad, he is trying to rotate as little as possible. He has not used the squad at all, even if it's fairly limited one. I don't see this approach working for a serious season, but he's an interim and doing what interim should be doing. It's not that much of a complain, just stating a fact he has refused to use the squad and there are angles where I can see it should be done differently (especially Casemiro and Mbuemo).

He's not a wide player. It's him or Sesko at 9.
He is 100% a wide player who should be competing for RW with Amad. He is a good backup for CF.
Mbuemo suits a transition team, he's got an erratic touch for an elite footballer and his end result is all over the ship but put him in a team that will break at speed and get him running between the FB/CB channel and he is genuinely almost impossible to stop if he gets into a footrace. He's basically a worse version technically of Rashford (when Rashford was good) but with good workrate, which makes him much better for the team overall.

I just do not see it with him honestly, he is a net negative for us, and frankly he has been this way throughout the season except Brighton at home which was his overall good performance. All other matches his goals have masked how poor he has been. He is physically outmuscled very easily and his touch is very off. He will not survive with any decent manager who wants to play possession football. He should be an option off the bench, ideally to stretch defenses and play as a striker, since his best attribute is runs off the ball and finishing. As a winger, he is nowhere near Amad.

While I think it's ridiculous to label him a disaster or bust signing, as one poster has repeatedly, there are some very concerning signs emerging. In my opinion, I don't think he offers enough to compensate for games when his finishing is off (ex. yesterday against Newcastle.) I think he should be backing up Amad, but then that brings into question the wisdom of having spent that much on him.

Some fans are far, far too quick to criticise. He has been, and is superb addition to the team (he was playing v well under Amorim remember). But he looks a little off-the-pace, right now, and needs to get back to that relaxed player... he is fine though, no need for any drastic debate. I wouldn't want him in any other squad in the Premiership.

A few days break will do him good.

I think he just, like Cunha, is an example of a lot of technically limited players we have. It's just too many.

he's just in the same boat that amad was in that it is obvious he needs a break from the starting lineup/subbed out earlier than carrick is doing. That is a big complaint i have from carrick is that there are obvious things we need to change in between games/during games that he is just too damn slow to do. We need to give mbuemo a rest a bit and let amad have rw spot for a game or two to start and give mbuemo that reset.

His touch in transition is good. Layoffs on the counter etc. Settled possession is a different story.
Which is strange. You’d think the former is the higher pressure situation. I guess more space on the counter makes a lot of difference. More margin for error.

Yes, he struggles in tight areas, basic passes, and even though he can do good touches, he does so many poor ones.
Odd take for me, literally what he's good at. Poor decision making and greedy, but technically a great player.

Wasn’t his best evening. Form seems to have fallen off a cliff. Earlier in the season his touch was incredible and now things just seem to bounce off of him and we rarely seem to get him in decent positions to run at someone who is isolated.

Put in a stinker of performance. But it is mostly on Carrick that he didn't hook him off at HT. Out of form, on a yellow. Was the perfect excuse to take him off. But Carrick waited and waited.

Man Utd 3:1 Aston Villa
Mbeumo played decently today actually. He wasnt great but wasnt bad either. His touches were better than previous games. At least he was involved in the first goal with that counter attack and shot that led to the corner. Evidently Carrick starts him to tire out the defence for Sesko

Well off it today but he worked hard and kept his head up, the sign of a proper professional footballer.

Not that he's a problem, but I think he's the most awkward fit for us. Still a quality player who is just off form a bit, but that's part of what having a proper attacking group looks like. Your star attackers will lose form and sometimes you gotta rotate him and leave him to be the impact sub. I think all 4 of the front 3 players we have are of similar quality, and it's just dependent on game, form, and you can always bring someone on to change the game. Add one more to this rotation and it's perfect blend for having more fixtures next season.

Did ok today though he is better on the right side. Closes down channels and works so hard. His one shot was quality from a difficult position.
Are two worst performances under Carrick have been Newcastle and Palace - Sesko started both those games. Todays starting forward line is the best choice, Sesko on as sub

- Food for thought.

It's because today's front 3 provide more help to our immobile midfield by keeping the ball better.

For playing out of position he's doing fine. Bit of a quiet came but when he gets on the ball makes the right decisions.

minor gripe but, I feel like he struggles with the refs giving him fouls at times....
