Glad he got his goal. Deserved it for his consistently excellent off the ball runs if nothing else.

Hopefully he can start next season in better form generally than he's ended this one, though.

@Grande , the quotes are messed up so I'll just tag you!

It just comes down to preferences. Cunha is a lot better on the ball for me. He scores as much as Mbeumo, but he's also a better dribbler, better passer, better at keeping the ball under pressure. He's not great by any means himself - just better than Mbeumo.

I would be happy to have Mbeumo as a squad player, but I think we need a starting winger as urgently as we need new midfielders and defenders, and I think Mbeumo will bring in the most money to help fund it.

I think for the title-challenging side we're aiming to be, his level probably is that of a squad player rather than a nailed-on starter, but he could still be very valuable in that role and I wouldn't think about selling him.

He could easily make the kind of contribution that Trossard has done for Arsenal this year, or Jota did for Liverpool last year. A player who can come on against tired defences and sniff out goals with relentless, smart off-the-ball movement when plan A hasn't worked can be crucial. He's shown to be a very solid option to lead the line in big games where we're largely playing on the counter, too.

I'm definitely not going to argue against that. He could be a very a valuable squad player to a side challenging for titles, but I'm not sure we can compete for a full season with our first choices being him, Amad, Cunha and Dorgu. We need at least one winger who can consistently provide a threat from out wide with his dribbling and general ability. We can't expect another season of Bruno creating everything.

So, with other positions in need of strengthening, we may not have enough funds to bring in said winger, but if we could bring in some money to address the position, I don't think it's crazy to try and cash in on him (or Amad).

I like him as an alternative to Sesko and as a rotation option for rw. However, I don't like going into the new season with our rw being him and Amad. Its been the weakest part of our attack for the second part of the season.

Needs to rediscover his composure over the summer. There's no control to his game at the moment and he probably knows it too. Still an excellent signing and pivotal to our attack going forward. We just shouldn't jerk him around nonstop. Buy a decent striker for when Sesko's out and let him settle on the right wing again. He should only really play upfront in very specific circumstances.

Good thing about him is that he always gets chances. Bad thing is that his ability with the ball at feet is really poor. One of those players you want involved only in the final third.

Don't like him as a pseudo forward. He's an inside forward and damn good in his role. We need to get a proper back up striker and free him up a bit.

imagine we had a lethal finisher.
Funnily enough up until the last few months most people would have had Mbeumo as a great finisher.

Very clinical for Brentford and for us up until the Spurs game in February.

He's just lost confidence during a drought. It is incredibly frustrating how this happens to attackers where they just can't do anything right.

Glad he got to double figures for league goals in the end.

At least he got his goal. Hopefully it'll stop the bad finishing rather than carrying it forward to next season.

See I completely disagree and think for the way Carrick plays, he's a poacher and his best trait is his movement (as evidenced by the amount of chances he got today). Him and Sesko offer very different qualities but that's good. We need actual wingers who can dribble, create, run with the ball and be a constant threat to stretch the field like how Olise, Diaz, Vini, Yamal, Kvara and Doue etc.

We don't really use inside forwards anymore (all the better, they aren't worth it unless the inside forward is world class like Ronaldo, Salah etc).

Think he scored the hardest of the chances he had which is something I suppose but that was a rough watch. Needs to do better.

I'm much of the belief that it's a good thing to see a player who has shown he can finish get into scoring positions 5 times in a match.

My biggest concern with Hojlund for example was that he would go on runs where it looked impossible to score.

Bruno basically shoved that assist down his throat. It was, you're going to score from my assist, like it or not!

I thought he played very well. Making some great runs. It was unfortunate two sitters fell to his weaker foot. The one that fell to his strong side was duly converted.

Totally agree with this, will be a great squad option but until we get someone better for the first team he’ll do just fine.

Not a particularly clinical finisher (think he'll now have underperformed his xG in four of his last five seasons). But still one of our biggest goal threat, as him being our second highest goalscorer suggests.

I said when we signed Cunha & Mbeumo that I didn't think they were likely to be 2/3rds of a title winning front three, and I still think that's probably the case. But that's not particulary a problem for next season, and he's certainly been worth his place in this CL-qualifying side across the season.

I think he looked sharper overall. Quick, got into good positions and great work rate.
On the other hand awful finishing and not a good first touch.
But I am positive he will come good next season.

He played well. It´s madness thinking he should be traded although he´s the second highest scorer.

Here’s my hot take - do with it why you will:

Lukaku had a better first season for us and it’s not even close.

why the comparison with Lukaku ? Why not compare Sesko and Cunha with Lukaku too.

If you watch him live you can see how hard he works. Constantly pressing. He’s vital to how we play. Not been the best recently but his work ethic has constantly been top notch.

I've got no worries about Big Bry, he's been going through a rough patch but finally found the net today. His effort is always there and he you can see in his face after missing chances that he knows he's capable of better. Looking forward to seeing a hopefully refreshed version of him again next season like we saw at the beginning of this one.

Agree with this. Wondered if the misses today on top of a bit of a goal drought might affect his confidence so good for him to get his goal. The winner too in the end.

He’s an Amorim player. Amad was still doing half the shit we expect from a winger from his wing back position and it masked his weaknesses early in the season.

We went big on two Amorim specialists last summer and the inevitable transition was always going to bring problems. Cunha is currently coping better with it.

As a centre forward he is an option, but his most optimal position is in Amorim-ball. He’s a squad player at United level for me.

He’s solid, but there’s no magic in him (unlike say Cunha, Sesko or even Amad).

His first touch is awful. Realky struggles to bring a ball under control when it’s pinged into him

Great that he gets stuck in at least when going gets tough for him, and seems to put in a shift defensively too even as a forward. Is good for what we have right now, but will need to be, at the very least, reduced to back up in a year or two.

You say that at the same time as highlighting the problem for him next season - we don’t play with inside forwards anymore.

Id play him against Brighton if Sesko is still injured. He kept getting chances and got a goal which hopefully ended the shit performances, he should be more confident now.

Got his goal but it was a terrible display of finishing. Only thing worth mentioning was he did not stop trying. Not a good performance.

His form has fallen off a Cliff and looks short on confidence. Hopefully the goal gives him a little boost and gets another next week so can go in to next season hopefully in good form.

I miss the guy that at times made it seem like he had the first touch of Berba and the ass of J-lo. Just holding off people with the booty and killing balls like they insulted his grandmother. Add in ability to beat a man and decent finishing. Today seemed like his twin showed up.
