It’s not knee jerk but my point is he’s not our biggest concern which some seem to think he is.

My point is Mbeumo isn’t a priority issue this season. He scores his share of goals and assists which is more than 85% of players in our squad. Is he the most technical no, is he a tricky winger that a lot of fans crave no, could we improve IF we had unlimited funds of course (as with all positions), but does he do a job we can rely on? Yes.

People are talking like they want a replacement this season, we should not be wasting money on that position when we have limited funds and a host of other positions in a much worse condition.

If they’re worried about Mbeumo then I’d hate to think how worried they are about the rest of the squad.

But each to their own, we all think differently.

Great penalty box movement and ability to get involved in those moments. General play is meh.

Considering we don't have many natural goal scorers in the team, I'm more than fine with his contribution. Surely something will click and we'll see more of that early last season form where his overall game was actually good.

He definitely needs to be scoring to justify a place in the team I think.
 
Mbeumo needs to deployed as far on the pitch as possible. Then his loose touches dont matter that much as he's a good finisher. Atm as a striker instead of Sesko.

Amad should start from the right, if he's out of form we can rotate him with Mbeumo or even throw Lacey in. Lastly Dorgu played well as a RW for national team, so might cover that spot too.
 
Mbuemo seems to get stick here because expectations are maybe unrealistic. He's never going to be an elite attacker, but he's super efficient. The sooner people accept his limitations the easier he'll be to appreciate.

Lacey has looked good and Mbeumo looks like he has goals in him but his overall play been poor this pre-season.

If Zirkzee goes and Rashford does stay, I could see him going to ST pretty much full-time:

That's a lot of tactical variety with Sesko a traditional 9, Mbeumo a poacher, Cunha a false 9 and on the wings too with Cunha coming inside and dropping deeper, Rashford a goal threat, Dorgu a 2-way worker and on the right Amad is our best defensive option and retainer in possession, Lacey has looked bright in the final 3rd and Mbeumo will score goals when played out there.

Lacking a star, but my guess it's unlikely we're gonna be able to afford one until we get Rashford off the books (and qualify for the CL) and in general we seem to be less in for that kind of ready made signing and it'll be a Sesko style signing at LW where we pay a ton for a winger, but he's on reasonable wages.
 
He's got in his locker and pre-season is no time to pretend your Pirlo, but I'd like to see more from Mbeumo.
 
When he joined us, you became understand more about his profile. He’s not a winger because he hasn’t got that trickery or ability to beat men like Amad. He is more a forward either wide forward or central forward. Even someone like Salah who is wide forward can also be considered as winger as he can beat men and has speed. Mbeumo is different. His movement, intelligence, and his positioning in the box are his assets. He also has good shooting technique, capable to play link-up play, and good first touch. He can also take set pieces. He has very good balance that he can hold the ball pretty well when defenders behind his back. He has some limitations but also has some very good assets in him.

Cheers, this was actually quite interesting to watch. Perhaps it's confirmation bias and obviously it's only a snapshot but I came away from this video thinking he trains like he plays, which is someone with fantastic physical fundamentals and final third instincts.
 
He's doing quite okay for pre-season work. If he translates that goalscoring into new season, we're good.
 
His finishing and shooting was sharp. Unlucky to not come away with 2 goals. But the rest of his general play can be better
 
he was not good, but he scores....That is what a striker needs to do. The passing was really annoying though.
 
People will be complaining about him all season, even as he'll justify his continued place in our first choice eleven by being our biggest or second biggest goal threat in any given game. That's just the profile of player he is.
 
People should also realize that he was the main pen taker for Brentford, he would have scored quite a few more if Bruno wasnt the main taker. Paradoxically he missed in the cup, hes a good goalscorer never the less.
