Bryan Mbeumo | 2026/27 Performances

He always has a habit of looking dangerous or scoring even when he’s not playing very well, which can actually be quite often. I mean, it’s a good quality in a way

Good that he scores, but should not gloss over what was a poor display up until around 60 minutes. A poor player for two third of a game should not be starting or even playing much.

Got goals in him even when he's not playing that well, which is obviously a good trait to have (and something that a player like Salah has been dining on for many years past his prime).

Really should've buried that sitter that hit the crossbar and out though, typical that a much more difficult chip over the keeper went over the line.

Technically he's a mess, he seems to have a real lack of control at times in his play.

He's none stop though in fairness.

The feeling I have about Mbeumo is that he upgraded our attack when we brought him in, and for the first couple of months he was very good.

But ultimately I think he's mediocre. He'll get to a certain level but I don't think he's part of a team challenging for titles which is where we want to be.

I think we should be looking to upgrade on him next year but the way Ineos approach the transfer market, next year's priority will be defence so I think he'll be spared as they seem happy to keep "ok" players for as long as possible rather than open the chequebook!

The goal masked a poor performance - though it speaks to the fact that he is the type who can still get on the scoresheet even when playing badly. Still, I watched him a lot at Brentford and he looks like he has declined substantially from that level. Concerning.

Yeah, i feel the same. I think he is great when running into space, but in tight spaces, he struggles. If you look at his Brentford goals, a lot of them came that way.

Annoys that hell out of me that he wont go onto his right foot and drive the the byline. Getting a little predictable in what he does. Dare I say Antony-ish?

Still think he is a very good player, but there may be a ceiling due to technical abilities.

not at his full confidence now and so hesitating cut sharp deep and too slow to run byline.

I will be okay with him as long as he scores, that miss wasnt the best, also lucky to get that assist when he should have burry it.

We simply need to press higher so he gets more space in the final third, same for Dorgu, needs less time to dribble with the ball forward to have a lose touch here and there.

He has been better for us down the middle under Carrick than he has been out wide.

If Amad is fit i think he would play as the striker.

It’s looking like Mbeumo will be a good fit against teams that will come at us so give him plenty of space to run into and Amad against teams who low block us.

It’s a good mix and one were fortunate to have.

His best moments come when he attacks directly but he is not the right player to lead the line. He is better from the right. Bit of a mixed bag sometimes. Should not be blamed for the 'miss' today though - keeper got a hand on it right in front of him so his contact wasn't right. Had no way to react to that.

I'm really not convinced by him. He can be effective running in behind but so much of what he does lacks quality and he seems incapable of beating full backs. I was also very surprised to see him beaten for pace by Enciso in the first half.

Agree 100%.

He's definitely more of a forward than a winger. Amad is levels above technically. He can be effective when he's on it, simply because of his build and physicality. However, I think we've seen his ceiling.

He went through one helluva dry spell at the end of last season and there were moments today where he looked very heavy footed. Lets hope he can kick on from that goal. For me, he was lucky to be on the pitch to score it. I think Lacey can feel a little hard done by not to get a sniff in Amad's absence.

Mentioned it many times but the lack of pace is staggering, look at him chasing Enciso back he just can't keep up with a player that isn't even that quick and then for Bruno's equaliser look at him trying to keep up with play and get in front of his man but he doesn't get close. Not quick, not good on the ball, can't take on a man but a decent finisher. Maybe just let him come off the bench when Amad is back.

He looks short of match fitness to me, lacking some pace and acceleration, and struggling with the ball more than usual.

I don't understand how he lost so much pace. That sprint against Enciso is damning thing. He was outpaced by both Enciso AND Shaw.

Was in the top 10 2 seasons ago for fastest players in the league.

I wonder what his recorded top speed was for last season.

But he does look legged at times when sprinting.

Amad has a real chance to take his spot in the line up when he gets back.

He is very frustrating to watch.

He makes good runs. That's the only justification for him being in the team at the moment. His all-round game has sadly declined so much since his Brentford days for some reason.

To be honest, I don't think his all-around game was ever that great. Not sure it's much different than it is now. He had more open spaces at Brentford considering they had lesser possession.

He is a player that has good movement to get into goal scoring positions and he took advantage of it that 1 season where he overperformed his xG.

Ideally, he'd have a RB that overlaps and is a creative force to mask his weaknesses so he comes inwards more instead of being forced out wide to attack players from wider areas.

Scored a great goal with a superb run to take Brunos defence splitting pass. Hit the bar also getting on the end of a stinging cross.
I thought he had a decent game but he seems to be the one being picked on by all the armchair managers. Personally I like him a lot.

I’d sell him before the window closes. I don’t see what he offers. A winger who can’t beat his man, create chances, or consistently make things happen.

I don't think he is going anywhere this window or the next, but we really should be open to selling him next season and get a higher calibre of player in to compete with Amad if we want to level up as a team.

I actually think he had decent start to season.. he was very poor after afcon but looks a threat again.

He is one of those salah type (not as gd) but will have many poor to average games but still pick up goal/assist due to his great runs. Just technically looks messy alot of the times.

He has limited ceiling which is close to his stats last yr so hopefully around 15 goals all comps which gd enough for now if rashford, cunha & sesko getting similar numbers.

He's still a threat, similar to last season you can knock him but he will score or make things happen.

I do agree he doesn't look as sharp or fit as he could be, like he lapsed physically now he's here but you can bet if he was at Brentford or Forest he'd be in prime condition again.

Interested in his high intensity sprint stats per 90. Must be one of our highest since he's come in.

Don’t think he has the ability to beat a man… did he use to at Brentford? He always seems to slow it down and either pass back or run straight down and cross with his right foot

It's very hard to describe his performance. Rashford was better than him as winger. But Mbeumo scored and should easily have one more goal. His link up play was decent. He has the experience to pick a great pass and lethal in finishing, that's why I think he is still ahead of Amad as LW.

I think Mbeumo is exactly the kind of player that we need to sell for 50-60 Mn and get an upgrade for if we’re serious about challenging for titles.

He’s good but there seem to be too many technical deficiencies in his game to be a top player.

And looking at him he just seems to have lost a yard of pace / sharpness in his game.

Worried that the physical decline will come in quite sharp.

He doesn't have and won't have a natural position in regular 4231 system.
Whenever he plays wide, he looks like a striker asked to play winger role.

Whenever he plays up front, he looks like a winger asked to play striker.

I expect him the be sold down the road as we fix other issues and start thinking about what to do with him.

He will get lots of goals, he's very professional and works hard.

He has plenty of flaws and ultimately doesn't suit a possession dominant side but considering where the transfer market is now he's a fine signing at what he cost.

Amad is our best attacker (not counting Bruno) do you not agree? We look so much less creative going forward without him - aside from today's result.

I think it's hard to say any of our attackers outside of Bruno is best. Since we revamped our attack it's always been stretches of each of them being in form and scoring goals.

So far under Carrick 1 or 2 always seems to step up in any given match.

Amad is great but also had big stretches of being very ineffective last season.

I'm not sure either of them were actually going at full pelt. It looked like they were very close to Enciso and potentially being careful not to accidentally foul him

His movement and runs do make things happen and result in chances though. Bruno and the other more creative players need someone like him to actually make runs and get on the end of things. It’s no coincidence that he’s been one of our highest scorers since he arrived despite being out of form. He still needs to improve his all around game - he looked much sharper this time last year - but he still impacts games.

Which is kind of fine, I think at times we need someone that can play that 2nd striker role

Also his goal was reminiscent of JJ Gabriel's during the week, thought it was interesting he tried the same high looping shot
