Bryan Mbeumo | BBC: Brentford reject bid of 55 + 7.5m

Feeling like Brentford ain’t blinking and may dig in their heels with their start of preseason. I hope there’s a Plan B.
Yeah they are clearly hoping we are going to blink first, we have reached stalemate right now unfortunately. Not gonna allow myself to contemplate what @sjw2511 is suggesting

Yep. Can’t support a club that wanted to bring back Greenwood, even if they bowed to pressure and didn’t.

Oh come on that can't be the real reason you don't support United anymore, the guy never played for us again after the video came to light.

Look at Arsenal and Partey to see how we could have handled it.

Best just admitting you've lost a lot interest now we're crap, and that you're sick of cheating clubs being allowed to run riot, most on here can relate to that.

Let them feel like some kind of martyr if they need it

Do you think that De Ligt was the reason for the defensive record? I would imagine that Onana’s form and our overall lack of attacking threat was the primary driver for those stats. De Ligt was quite good last season to be honest.

I think for £38 million and one of the higher wages of our players that werent loaned out and signing him as a first team contender from Bayern, he was bought to stabalize the defence. And he didnt. He was as average as the other CBs so he was a bigger disappointments than the lower profile signings. I think Ugarte was clearly better despite his own flaws and Yoro was high profile because of the large fee but its quite reasonable for a young player his age to take a while before looking like an expensive player.

If he isn't on the plane for pre-season then the transfer team have fecked up, you can't start negotiating on 5th June and still be haggling a month later.

Hurry Up!

Guess he’ll be joining up with the squad a week after pre season starts

There will be no transfer action next week as MUTV will have articles and interviews about Leon.

The way we usually conduct transfer business shouldn't be the benchmark we measure against.

Not to mention, we finished 15th last season, so there would ideally be a little more urgency this summer.
And we've had an extra week window already.

This saga is making Woodward seem like a cat in a room full of pigeons.
Yeah, it would've been a done dealio by now, 90+15 in bonuses.

United know the price for which Brentford will sell. The question is why the delay in submitting the correctly structured bid? Are they hoping that Mbeumo will push?

Yeah and it seems even the most reliable journos can't find out anything on what's delaying things

Don’t forget the 250k p/w he’d be on

Thread is a trainwreck, might as well lock it until it’s done one way or the other.

The longer we refuse to do that the more deals Brentford can use as measuring stick for this one
Thay can use whatever they want because we have a 60mil+ package deal on the table and no other club is bidding for him.
He may have stated his preference is Utd but that does not mean Spurs or Newcastle could not table a bid and offer personal terms that better anything we have submitted.
We only have to look at Yoro and his preference to joining Madrid until we came in with the cash that his club wanted and personal terms that Yoro wanted and suddenly Madrid was soon forgotten.

Has this ever been stated/proven matter of factly? Because Crafton’s report only spoke of “plans” if I recall correctly - and at the time United - like any org - had several of those accounting for different variables. Nonetheless, the people in charge at the time - are no longer in charge - and United is comprised of more than those people, I’d think

Yeah and bottom line - he never did play for us again and those execs who wanted to being him back are all gone!

Also, when will a third bid go in or are they just planning on restructuring the second bid to something like 60 + 2,5 or 62,5 + 2,5.

There’s some long delays between bids, especially if we’re supposedly mostly just off on the structure but happy with the totals.

That's what I said I just don't understand why it's taking so long. It's not like we're starting from scratch on a different player is it?

We would have finished higher if we had stuck with EtH and not radically switched tactics. Probably still stuck in our 8th placed ways but no doubt done better. Switching tactics was a temporary detriment to our defense. Hopefully not permanent.
We switched tactics with ETH as well, but sure would not have finished 15th.

Yeah, one would’ve hoped that either party is aware of the conditions needing adjusting before the bid will be accepted. Alas, let’s hope it gets sorted out this week

Common sense will tell you that our second bid is short of what they actually want and Romano must have got some bad info.

In case it needs saying we were 13th when EtH left and had an expected league place the previous season of 12-13th IIRC. 8th place was flattery in the extreme

Edit: I actually did not recall correctly - it was even worse. Our expected position the prior season was (drum roll please) 15th!
That expected position nonsense. Over a whole season you deserve to finish where you do give or take a few points.

Yeah I want to see the partnership between him and Cunha become a reality which still feels a way off

I'm convinced there's more issues with this than just the structure of the bid but no idea what they are
